Depending what happens over the next decade we could easily become the USA 's  " Ukraine. "

We all laugh at this, but I 100% guarantee politicians who have the power to do something like this have thought about it (in more ways than just simply taking over as well). Again it's going to be under the guise of "freedom" just like all their wars etc are. But it's about our resources. Canada HAS to be very careful moving forward. We have a lot of fresh water that the states want. And they WILL be pressing us to get it one way or another.  And THIS is exactly how they get these thoughts into the zeitgeist. 

The police have begun operations to clear downtown Ottawa. Let's hope for a peaceful resolution to this occupation.

David Cochrane   @DavidWCochrane · 1h   Convoy organizer Tamara Lich was arrested Thursday evening by Ottawa police and also remains in police custody. Both she and Chris Barber - who was arrested earlier - are expected to be charged criminally, according to sources.  

By the way, his disability is an amputated leg. He claimed he lost it when he served in Afghanistan. When a quick check revealed he’d never served, he quickly retracted his lie. As it turns out, he was working as a labourer and fell off a roof, breaking his leg. Rumours that he was drunk at the time have not been verified, but he did not properly care for the break, and after it became infected his leg was amputated. He now says he works as a health and safety officer but there is nothing g to show he ever completed the required training, and he himself says he does not work. Of course, he has been collecting disability cheques ever since from the very same government he so loudly decries as oppressive. 

The leaders of this occupation should be thrown in jail on charges of sedition & treason. But they won't because we're too polite.

Yet many on the right are sharing the hugging of protestors by the RCMP at Coutts as proof that there was never any violence and it has always been solely a peaceful movement.
No, it shows law enforcement is complicit and treats protestors differently based on political beliefs and skin colour.

I'll  add this , it's what the world gets to see of Canada now. I agree with your post %100.  Part of  " Law , order and good government  " is squashing these extremists before it emboldens those who quietly support their ideas. It was left far to long.

Everytime I hear " their version of " I think back to 20 years ago when my 10yr old son and I found a  " Spaderman " in a dollar store . It looked exactly like you would think a " Spaderman " would look like. So bad It was awesome. I so regret not buying it. It is very easy now to be come despondent and cynical about the social culture of Canada right now, but these idiots comprise probably less than a tenth of one percent. However they are very vocal and the media and some politicians and popular figures have given them a profile completely out of proportion  to their numbers and purported popularity. The politicians have been divided and hesitant in their responses as have been the police, and that has compounded the problem. The net message the protesters have taken out of this is that whenever they do not get what they want, even if illegal and outrageous, they can repeat these behaviours and escalate if they choose to with little or no consequence. Bullies rarely respond to negotiation- they see that as an admission of weakness and renew their demands.

Utterly disgusting. Wheres our common decency ? Where's our self- respect ?  Where's our leadership ? This needs to end now.

I think you are right in that there will be alot of regular Conservative voters that will be angry over this.  Will they move their vote ? Maybe. I have an extremely flexible vote that depends on the Leader and the issues of the time.  I have decided I can't vote Conservative Federally or Provincial again until they :
1- find proper leadership,
2- embrace the issues of the time, not the issues of the previous generation.
3-  can reflect the will of the general population ,
4- can convince me that they aren't willing to sell their soul ( and mine lol ) to just get elected.

Since many provinces have now announced the removal of restrictions in short order and the blockades and protests continue,  it's obvious that there were other reasons why they are there.  I think it's a desire of of many of them to be involved in a Trump/ Maga type movement. That includes all the ugliness and hate that is deeply imbeded in that movement. I find it shameful and embarrassing to have the world watching this. I hope that there are many people moving away from supporting any  political party that is not actively fighting and resisting that movement.
