I’m sure there’s more to this than Durant trying to ‘scam’ the bombers... must be family issue

Why are you sure?Family issue or not he should have notified the Bombers 1st.  I gave my employers 3 or 4 months notice because I appreciated the fact that they gave me a job and other than my wife they were the 1st to know because it is just a common courtesy to do that.

Certainly this is a classless move by Durant, but the whole deal is still on Walters and I would hold him accountable for this incompetence if I were upper management. It was Walters who went so tight in the negotiations with Durant that he pissed him off, and here is the result.

And yet that money they spent in signing bonus is the difference in signing Muamba, Westerman, or some other impact Cdn talent.

When a few more of Walters missteps come to light, such as the decision to cheap out in key areas such as Oline and DB, Bombers could be in really rough shape this year, particularly when they play Nuefeld on the OLine and Nichols is seroiusly hurt by week 5.

Well at least Walters will be happy because now he can show management that he will operate the team way under the cap for the year. Should be the best year of all for savings under the cap for the Bombers which is extra money they can return to the BOD.

     Nasty Nate,is that you?

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt... you never know what might come up unexpectedly in someone's personal life that would affect this decision (maybe an unexpected family illness, etc)... but to not even inform the team is certainly suspect...

I was just thinking "I wonder if he planned this from the start?"

Its interesting that all the free agents signed since the end of the season have been on offence or special teams. Not one defensive player.

Does it mean anything?   Are the players waiting to see who the DC will be?  Hall or someone else?  or is the team looking to make wholesale changes on defence?

Or they need to see who the new DC wants

  5. Let's keep this in perspective. We are down our best D man and leader, our best Oline man and leader,Our lead RB,game breaker go to guy,our back up RB who changed our whole game plan,Our QB who is up their for league  MVP and drives this team. Are we in trouble? Yes!Was it to be expected we wouldn't  answer the bell in this game?Yes.If I'm BC I would be a tad sheepish at how close this game was.Best case scenario, is Calgary wins,we have 2 weeks to heal most of these loses and emerge a hungry  team in the playoffs.

They get 18 cheques.  One per game week.  Practice roster starts week 1 and ends once team is out of playoffs.  18x750 would be salary plus some allowances, so around $15,000 if someone spent the whole year on the PR.

But while they are here that is what they are making and I never included food.Do they get paid during the 2 bye Weeks? If so then it's 20 weeks+housing +food. If you are on a practice roster in the CFL you will need an off season job.The CFL is not a league rolling in $ .Gate $ is a more important figure than the NFL.The more players make, the more we are charged for tickets.Ive done alot more for alot less at times just for the love of it.Thorpe wanted off,the Bombers said OK.There are hundreds more willing to do it.

  7. Some old farmer math and figuring.

    There are more than 4 weeks in a monthso so-$750 x 52 weeks =39,0000/year ÷12=$3250/month

Housing or allowance $750,(?) +$3250=4000 /month or an equal of 48,000/year

For being on the practice roster (not quite cracking a pro lineup) that is not all that bad while pursuing  your dream job.
