  1. At the very least, it appears that they are doing everything in their power to make him expendable.
  2. We don't know that they didn't .... maybe he just chose the Eskies over us. He is from Edmonton originally, isn't he?
  3. So that means Miller & Walters are here to stay then. Miller, I'm okay with. Walters I'm not. I never said that ... it could be that both Miller & Walters are replaced in the offseason as well. I would be completely indifferent to that happening - whatever is the best for the future of the team. steps: a) Board either finds a new CEO or hire Miller full time. I don't know which is best, but I suspect unless something goes horribly wrong it will still be Miller time. 'b) CEO hires a full time GM. Whether that is Walters is up to him, but I hope they do a thorough search and hire the best guy available (hint: It's Higgins). c) Higgins new GM hires head coach of his choice, with no bias to whoever is left at the end of the year, interim or otherwise. d) New HC hires his staff. e) Plan Grey Cup parade route. I just hope that by the time we get to 'b) Walters hasn't traded away our little bit of talent for Russ Michna 2.0.
  4. From what I remember about Boltus in the limited playing time he got he seemed not too bad; he's still young (younger than Max Hall as a matter of fact). I don't have any problem with the Bombers bringing him in at all, he's got a pretty good arm IIRC.
  5. If you fire Burke and Crowton you have to replace them with someone. They are doing the right thing by having Burke coach out the year. Candidates will be much better in the off-season, and it should be the new GM that chooses a coach. Let's do it right this time FFS. Hiring a new HC for the remaining games would just cause more instability and also gives the 'interim' guy an automatic advantage for the full-time job. When was the last time you saw an interim coach not get the permanent gig? Let's start with a clean slate in the off-season and just have a beer and laugh through the rest of this one.
  6. There's no point in firing Burke now (although he certainly deserves it). Wait out the year and clean house. Walters is getting a tryout - let's see what players he can bring in.
  7. Seems like the right pick of the three to me, but honestly I don't think Hall is going to make a very good CFL quarterback at all. I don't think we have anyone at the moment who is. My guess is that he plays another game or two before the turnovers become unbearable. Here's hoping he proves me dead wrong!.
  8. Sorry, Hall isn't the guy. He may get another start or two, but it's not going to take long for him to become an interception machine. His throws are weak and often off target, and he made some piss-poor decisions (yes he made some good ones as well). Not a fan. Unfortunately we don't have a qb worth starting at this point. Goltz wins by default I guess, simply because I don't want to see Buck killed on the field.
  9. Other than a few glaring weaknesses, talent isn't the issue. At this point it's all about the coaches. The team is not playing for Burke, period. Fire Burke & Crowton, replace both with MB and whoever he wants for the remainder of the season. Instant upgrade. Sorry Burke, I thought you were the guy. You're still a great DC I'm sure, but you're gonna have to do it somewhere else.
  10. The thing with Elliot was that the errors he was making were largely coachable ones that could have been addressed with some competent guidance and a bit of maturity. But of course we aren't patient enough for that.
  11. Agreed his stats aren't amazing; however if we're bringing in kicking competition, I'd rather it be a young guy with some potential rather than old sandbagger whose stats are as bad and has a history of being difficult as well.
  12. Contract issues .... http://www2.canada.com/theprovince/news/sports/story.html?id=eb897a0a-672e-4fe4-ad56-f53f6b336724
  13. Good point BaconNBigBlue. Love the site, it keeps getting better and better. Thanks to all those involved.
  14. If we'd just kept Elliot and started him to this point he'd be well 'over the hump' by now. Instead we keep playing the carousel game and no one is actually progressing (in a positive direction). I say pick a guy and stick with him. I don't even care which guy they pick any more, just tie your can to someone and let's let's go.
  15. My prediction is none of our current qbs are on our roster for TC next year. We'll steal Glenn out from under Ottawa in FA, possibly also Collaros, and also bring in a couple fresh faces.
  16. I like these moves. Garret was expendable, and we freed up some roster and cap room. What's not to like?
  17. Calgary will protect BLM - leaving Tate unprotected. But there's certainly no guarantee that Ottawa would take Tate, especially if Glenn is a FA and they sign him. Ray will be protected of course, but again Collaros is a FA, so he is likely lost to the Argos regardless.
  18. I'm actually optimistic about what MB will bring to the Bombers. Go figure.
  19. I believe yesterday Burke mention that Walters was interim GM and it just hadn't been announced yet .... pretty much common knowledge I think ...
