Bomber Game vs Toronto On Youtube
Mr. Perfect replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
For those wanting to save the video to their computer in case YouTube pulls it (copyright crap) here is a link I use that converts YouTube videos to MP4 files: http://www.youtubeinmp4.com/ -
The thing about Willy is that even with lots of time provided by our line, the ball in most cases was out pretty quick. Collaros on the other hand seemed (can't say for sure since you aren't him of course) to fail at making his pre snap reads when Sask was sending pressure. Ontop of that he held on to the ball way too long which magnified the problems. Had he gotten the ball out quickly like Willy, that at least would have made the problems seem not as bad. All that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the game against the Riders ends up being his worst of the season. While I'm not a Collaros fan he is better than what he showed today. The rain didn't help things (Durant's numbers were far from great as well). Collaros can make plays and he will perform better than he showed today, but in my opinion, Willy is and always has been the better quarterback. The mechanics you could turn into a novel on Collaros. There are a lot of flaws there. In a way his mechanics remind me of Byron Leftwich. For those that recall Leftwich had a solid career at Marshall and his mechanical flaws were in large part over looked because he had a solid line in front of him at the school. Leftwich had a long wind up delivery that took much longer in terms of releasing the ball and getting it to its target than the average QB. Leftwich played behind poor offensive lines in the pros and DB's always jumped his passes because they are obviously much more skilled in the NFL. The same thing to a degree plagues Collaros. His wind up and delivery takes a long time so that, coupled with hanging onto the ball too long and playing behind a much weaker O-Line than in Toronto, his play will continue to result in more sacks. The Rider DB's were also very good at jumping passes tonight. He gets happy feet against the blitz and really needs a coach that will help him remain focused on his fundamentals and settle down the happy feet under pressure.

That guy, I forget his name, that said back in the offseason that Collaros would struggle in Hamilton because of how he plays against the blitz and the quality of their offensive line, and that Willy would be the the QB to get in the offseason really knew what he was talking about. If only I could recall who that was....

Looking back at the Montreal Calgary game as painful as it was, I don't recall seeing one shot of Higgins wearing a coaches headset. Some of the assistants were but not Higgins. Does anyone recall if he wore a head set during his time in Edmonton or Calgary? It just makes me wonder what sort of command he has during a game with staff other players and staff he'd communicate with in a game.

Very well said. Fully agreed.

Traded a national player to get him, extended him to a new deal including a signing bonus... yes it's at least a moderate deal. It shows that our GM completely misjudged a player, that is a concern. Yeah from the standpoint of cutting a player who wasn't making the team better it's the right move, but the fact that they made the moves they did to get this guy only to have it not do anything for them, that raises questions about the management here. You bring in a guy with the hope he can contribute. If he doesn't fit what you thought you were getting you cut ties and move on. Welcome to pro sports. It's much better than previous regimes that would hang on to players for the course of a season (Hefney, Johnson, to name a couple, there's many more) when it was painfully obvious they were done.

Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Depth role. You don't take out any of our starting receivers for him. -
It's obvious O'Shea means business. You better buy in to the message, be able to produce on the field, or get out.
-
Took the Riders to win. They lost some big pieces but they can still get after the QB and Hamilton's line isn't that strong to begin with.
-
Great advice. If only we were all content with not wanting to improve our careers we'd really be onto something...
-
Both lines had very weak showings
-
Damn this inept management team not trading for Kevin Glenn. What were they thinking?!
-
Burris' signing was announced on February 2 and the trade and extension of Willy was announced on February 4. Proved wrong again. Ouch. I love how people skew facts in an effort to make themselves appear that they know what they are talking about. Minor correction though Jacquie, it was February 6. Most definitely not "at least a week, if not longer." http://www.bluebombers.com/article/blue-bomber-aquire-quarterback-drew-willy-from-riders-sign-him-to-extension

That's an ugly forced ball by Kevin Glenn. Needs to know better by now.
-
We're in for some real unnecessary delays and reviews if that's how the plan on doing things.
-
Good grief CFL get your crap together. Not even close. Should have been blown dead immediately.
-
And then he throws an interception. Which was more of an outstanding play by the lineman and not a forced ball into coverage considering it was Eddie Steele with the pick.
-
Amen for the crossover.
-
Troy Smith with numbers at halftime that Justin Goltz would be jealous of: 8/16 48 yards, 1 interception.
-
Awful read by Troy Smith. Saved by the penalty.
-
Take away Mitchell's 102 yard touchdown and he's 6/11 for 73 yards at this point. Dull game.
-
This one may be a stinker...
-
Unfortunate but not surprising.
