  1. And he still blew a call yesterday that thankfully another ref caught. He needs to be fired.
  2. It's not though and here's why - As a play caller in that situation you're giving your QB a chance to make a play while trusting him not to make a poor decision. As a play caller you go into shotgun on second and inches with the thought that the WORST thing that's going to happen is you're going to be facing third and inches on the next play. If there's a play to be made on second down, make the throw. If not (which clearly there wasn't) you throw the ball away and take your sneak on third down and start over again. You do not under any circumstances take the sack, which was the result of Reilly hanging onto the ball to long. The play call was fine. The protection was good from the line. It was a very simple, basic football decision that Mike Reilly got wrong.
  3. As a QB, you're taught to have a mental clock as to when the ball has to be gone from the pocket. The time had long since expired.
  4. TITTIES!!!
  5. I wasn't really paying attention after Edmonton had their final turn over on downs - Was this shown on TSN, or talked about on local radio?
  6. Burke liked the knee at the end of the first half when EDM was trailing. Classic Burke maneuver. Actually considering the time left and where Edmonton was on the field, that was the right decision.
  7. At this point, Grigsby hasn't done anything that Cotton has already done himself at the position when we've seen him play. The same cannot be said for Grigsby.
  8. He had time but Mitchell has happy feet like Willy now has. Willy has an excuse as the Bomber OL isn't as good as Calgary but Mitchell? He rarely gets sacked or even touched. Tonight he looked like he was having trouble finding open receivers. To the comment of finding open receivers - The lines play a part but so do the receiving cores as well. Mitchell, like Willy is still very young in his career and both are without their #1 receivers right now. Price for Mitchell and Kelly for Willy (Not saying Kelly IS a number one receiver talent wise, but it's quite clear Willy has a comfort level with him that he doesn't in others) and not having that security as a quarterback is a significant thing to be without. Look no further than Durant sans Dressler, Ray minus Owens/Durie as well.
  9. You noticed that too. He's been demoted. He obviously needs to be demoted again. He should be fired actually.
  10. Mike Reilly's decision making in the final three minutes was especially bad.
  11. He's a **** but he's a great quarterback.
  12. I don't think it's Willy not having faith in his line. The difference is Mitchell has had time to go through his reads and progressions, and Willy did not.
  13. Of course their line is light years ahead. They've always had the depth and the picks to keep their line solid all the way across. We aren't there yet but we will be in time. It's a process that's going to take time. People need to accept that. This team was mismanaged for a long time. That's what happens.
  14. Nik Lewis' catch streak in serious jeopardy. The injury to Walter makes it next to impossible right now to get him in the lineup.
  15. For those watching - See on the replay Edmonton rushing three and a line of defenders at the first down marker? That's exactly why Drew Willy didn't run last week.
  16. I hate seeing teams get cute when trying to sneak the ball. Just get low behind the centre and follow. End of story.
  17. Hell, Tim Burke says that was a bad call.
  18. Higgins wouldn't have even called a fake there, and he called one from his own 25 in the playoffs in the snow.
  19. Sure seems like closing practice to the media and fans paid off for Edmonton....Wow, just stupid.
  20. It's a nice mismatch to have for sure. I expect our offence to look how it did a few weeks ago once Kelly is back in the lineup. It's a comforting thing to have for a QB.
  21. Yes. Calgary is rarely sending added pressure - typical of a Stubler defence. The linebackers are there waiting for him out of the picture. If you watch pre snap you can see most of the linebackers dropping back as soon as Reilly calls for the ball. It's the same reason why Willy didn't run when Edmonton sent three or four later in the game.
  22. And that pick is why Mike Reilly is not a great, or very good quarterback.
  23. I love how Murray Clarke was the closest official on the offensive pass interference call and didn't throw the flag. No wonder he's no longer a head ref. He shouldn't be reffing period.
  24. He's on the active non-football injury list - a tooth issue. http://espn.go.com/blog/cincinnati-bengals/post/_/id/9285/bengals-jermaine-gresham-back-pup-list-injury
  25. I really wish we had one of our bye weeks after this game.
