Just wanted to make note of the fact that we passed 10000 posts earlier this morning as a community.

Good job guys, we've slowly built ourselves a pretty awesome little place to talk Bombers in a really short period of time.

Also wanted to say thanks to everyone for making the moderator position here a really easy one. It's been great so far.

Awesome that the site has grown, and continues to grow as quickly as it has. A great place to discuss ball regardless of what our opinions may be.

You know, lots of players have to hang their helmets up before they're ready. Not may pro athletes walk away under on own terms. I was lucky enough to get to know Khari Jones when he lived here in Calgary. I can tell you he was so upset about having to retire because of his shoulder injury that he deliberately stayed away from football for 3 years until he felt he was ready to start a career as a coach. He needed to get the notion of still wanting to be a player totally out of his head before he could start a coaching career, he told me.  Buck is constantly hurt. He can't finish one game, let alone a season. The Bombers more than held up their end of the bargain for Buck. He can think what he wants but if he is to still be a part of the team then he has to STHU & get on with it or leave & come to terms that his playing days are essentially over. That simple. Maybe Buck needs to do what KJ did, leave the team, step back completely out of football for a time come to terms with things.

What Buck should have done was keep his feelings to himself with the media, play the good soldier as he is still being paid by the Bombers as an employee & say he'll do whatever he can to help them win. Then, in private... storm into Burke's office demanding an explanation. And if the answer isn't what he liked... retire. Or get in line, do the job asked of him & forever be quiet. Like I said, this team has more than proven their loyalty to Buck. Other teams (like BC) would have sent him packing a year ago.

I agree with you, but also why didn't Burke and Crowton talk to him before they made the announcement.

Everything gets turned into a circus it seems.

At least ISO can't complain we don't have a quarterback coach. We have an actual quarterback that will be coaching!

Makes no sense does it? You'd think he'd clue in there's a problem with Shankman. It's almost to the point of being good riddance the way things are going there. Ultimately, OB will go down or become a ghost town. However, at the same time, Colin doesn't listen so anything that does happen is on him. It's his fault.

I guess the question is how smart we're they really before they walked in....and then there r the dumbasses that hired them.

Look at the Toronto staff, they have Milanovich there & Marcus Brady. In Calgary Huff & Dickenson. In Sask they have Cortez. How can young qbs not thrive with guys like that coaching them? This organization has never put a lot of importance on hiring a qb coach. Yet, they constantly try to develop the next Tom Clements or Matt Dunigan with no success. They seem to feel it's more important to have a running back coach over a qb coach. Or a receivers coach over a qb coach & where have we failed in development? At the qb position over & over. Connect the dots & it's easy to see the problem. But I honestly think the people that run this team are clueless. Smart football people get hired & then walk thru the doors to their offices at Canad Inns or IGF & dumb right down.

Yeah, he said it on the Tim Burke Show on CJOB last night. I think it is good he is admitting that there's issues he can't solve. Could you imagine Cal Murphy ever admitting he needed outside help?

Lapo being fired wasn't the issue, the issue was when he was fired. Shoulda done it at the end of the season and shoulda done a proper coaching search after that.

This place is more relaxed. We have our discussions & arguments but I don't think anything has turned into a battle here with personal grudges. Definetly more leeway here & the mods are experienced which makes a huge difference. I know yesterday I was getting into it with some posters about Joe Mack. But, I'm not angry at anyone about it as we're all entitled to our opinions.
The key to a great website is being able to argue with someone on one thread & then completely agree with that same person on the next. Or at the very least, being civil with that same person discussing another subject. That's what this place is like now which is great

Because he's the CEO and the top dog for one. If the product sucks, and he's the leader of the ship of a community owned team, he shouldn't be shying away from tough questions. Sure Friesen has....questionable articles, but I think for the most part Penton does a solid job, so because "it's the Sun" I don't think is a just reason to turn down the interview request, if indeed that was the reason. As I said, would they be shy if the team's record was 4-1? Not likely.

small correction, Ritchie was hired before Bauer, which is why Bauer was so quick to fire him when things started slipping. He wasn't Bauers guy and there was a clash there. Ritchie wanted to be the guy in charge and so did Bauer. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Burke in his post game presser said if small guys can't tackle bigger guys then they have to go. Okay, all for that.

bolded part 1: for some posters here who know better, that comment will likely have made them chuckle. funny stories there.

bolded part 2: nailed it. it was always about the community... not the site. and most of the posters who defined that site's community are here (many of them exclusively).

WEC almost single handedly killed the Jets. How Barry Shenk managed to keep them here as long as he did is testament to his dedication.
WEC ran the arena. Jets had to pay rent and WEC got all revenue generated at true arena and parking. Plus concerts etc. it was a joke.
I don't believe TN contractually runs all concerts. I think it's just a business relationship where they choose to hold stadium concerts at the stadium and rent it or whatever.

17, it all starts on defence with pressuring the qb. Blitzing is big risk, big reward kinda stuff especially against a guy like Ray. But a rookie qb??? He'll be running for his life or throwing the ball into our defenders hands as inexperienced qbs can't make their reads as quickly as a veteran qb can. Plus inexperienced qbs hold onto the football longer making a blitz easier to get to him. So, to just sit back & let Mitchell throw rushing the DL?? That's no strategy as we do it game in & game out. No pressure means a qb has time to go thru his progressions & for the receiver to get separation. Disrupting the qbs timing & putting absolute fear into his head where he throws early or  inaccurately is what our D needs to do. Look at guys like Ray & Durant. They get rattled easily as they don't like to get hit... Yeah, they could kill us but what's the diff... we're getting killed anyway playing this defense. The stubborness of this coaching staff to stick with things that don't work is going to cost all of them their jobs as this is getting absolutely stupid.
