Sorry I came back after the weekend - but obviously you can't GUARANTEE that nothing will ever happen again.  There SO MANY people committing violent acts (murder, rape, etc) who are released "after doing their time". You cannot guarantee sexual predators will not reoffend - yet so many are released (as an example).  Murderers are released every day.  Karla Homolka assisted in violent serial killings, but was "abused" and as such was offered a plea bargain and was released after only 12 years. Comments like this - 'I don't trust Li.' - that's fine.  YOU are not a mental health professional in any way, shape, or form.   If you trust him or not - it does. not. matter.  I don't trust a single person who has raped, murdered, driven drunk, beat the **** out of someone on drugs, etc - doesn't mean our society will release them back into the general population.

The WFP article about NCR's was a good one.  It is very clear that if there was any strong history of violent crimes committed by those found NCR, it would not even exist.

You seem to be "offended" by the actual act - the beheading and "eating" -  when he was clearly very disturbed.  Would you be as disturbed if he'd instead, say, shot someone?  Someone is still dead.  The offender is still mentally disturbed.  Here are other cases where a legal system and PROFESSIONALS (not you, remember?) deemed them NCR.  Is this ok because they didn't behead someone and eat them?

As to people saying that he was right-****** in jail/remand center afterwards... how would you feel if you realized while you were completely unaware, you had brutally murdered someone?  That would absolutely mess you up (in addition to being mentally ill).

Our country's mental health system is very troubling, and as seen in the case of Li, serious illnesses often take years to properly diagnose, and doctors are overwhelmed - in MANY cases it takes drastic events to get help.  Patients check themselves in and out, there are extremely long wait lists, there is the inherent difficulty of getting the right medication - the issues go on and on.

From the Feb 27 Calgary Sun:
It’s been more than three months since the Saskatchewan Roughriders battled the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2013 Grey Cup.
The battle that takes place over the next three months, however, will be just as important.
With the current collective bargaining agreement set to expire the day before training camps open in May, the CFLPA and CFL owners are set to begin negotiations in earnest March 6-7 at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel.
The two sides exchanged initial proposals earlier this month.
“I don’t think it was pleasing to anyone,” said CFL veteran Keon Raymond, who is one of two Calgary Stampeders player reps, along with fullback Rob Cote.
When the two sides meet face to face next week, Raymond is expecting opinions to be aired.
“I think we expect it to be a little rowdy,” Raymond said.
“(The owners) are going to come with a lot of minimal, but it’s the beginning of the negotiations, and when you have a lot of money on the line and guys fighting for something, it’s going to be tough.
“We definitely have to stick together and be unified as one.”
The most contentious issue will be how the monetary pie is divvied up, as it’s expected the CFLPA will want to see the league’s $4.4-million salary cap increase significantly.
A new five-year TV rights deal with TSN and RDS worth a reported $43-million was signed last year, which is worth approximately 21/2 times more than the previous deal and is expected to more than double what CFL franchises pull in on the TV side to $4.3 million.
“It factors in a ton, knowing it’s almost two or three times more than what it was the last time,” Raymond said.
“We feel like the league is doing a great job and, obviously, there’s no league without the players, but the fans are the most important thing, as well. This is entertainment, and I think we’ve given them a great product to put on the field.
“You definitely want to be compensated for the things that you put your body into.
“I don’t know if the owners really understand the type of physical punishment we put our bodies through.”
New stadiums and increasing viewership and interest in the CFL around the country have the players asking, what about us?
“It just kind of seems like everybody is kind of reaping the benefits except for the guys that are putting in the work,” Raymond said.
The last time around, a new CBA was signed on the final day before training camps opened in 2010.
“We have a great amount of respect between our two organizations,” CFL commissioner Mark Cohon said at the annual state of the league address during Grey Cup in Regina back in November.
“We have a good working relationship, we’re very transparent in terms of them understanding our businesses, our challenges, the opportunities ... We must remain prudent and smart about our business.”

Jacquie reacted to JuranBoldenRules in New Bomber/CFL Blog I'm Working On
    Hey guys,

Had a brainstorm with a friend of mine who is also a football geek this weekend, and we decided to start a new blog on the Bombers and CFL.  We were actually talking with a couple other friends about all the NHL and Jets blogs that we look at, and that there's not much on the Bombers or CFL.  It will be long-form analysis, and will be really good during the season if we stay motivated.  We were talking about it and we think there is a real demand for some in-depth looks at the teams, players and games, and that's what we're going to try to do.  We'll really get going with the grading of players and advanced stuff during the season, but for the off-season we are going to do a critical overview of every teams roster, and we'll do some stuff around the draft.

Our first post is up, part of our "Mid-February roster analysis," it is on the Bombers QB situation.  We're going to look at the Bombers in 6 parts (QB, RB/REC, OL, DL, LB/DB and special teams) plus an overall assessment/discussion.  Then we'll look at the other 8 teams, likely in much less detail.

    Check it out.

B+ Getting Bourke or Butler would have been nice but I don't think we had a real shot at them in the first place. I like the guys we signed and am not disappointed about not getting one of the OL who were available. I'm going to wait to see how the rest of the off-season goes before getting too worried about the o-line.
Too lofty since Perrett wasn't a free agent.

Relax... Neufeld, Swiston, and Pencer are waiting in the wings.  A good O-Line coach (heck even a different one from Del Monaco) could very well make them into long-term starters.

Just because we don't have 5 bonafide 5-year starters on our line doesn't mean we're hooped.
