IGF Stadium Money Pit Grows: Broadbeck
My guess is there will be temporary concourses set up outside the stadium for Grey Cup.What's egress? Ways out of a building. Need enough to move people quickly in case of emergency, obviously more depending on the amount of people and size of the building.

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
Walters basically committed to Picard as our starting centre this season at today's presser. Banks was our SAM too.

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
Other than the fact that he can't block anybody 1 on 1, he can't block well enough to play anywhere but centre and his snaps have been unreliable the last 2 seasons, I have no issue with Picard. I doubt that he plays any significant role on our team unless Morley retires or is injured, and I really hope we didn't tie up more than a few thousand in bonus money on him.

IGF Stadium Money Pit Grows: Broadbeck
I don't mind spending tax money on a stadium. I do mind the lying and moving of the goalposts that has happened throughout this entire process, by the previous Bomber regimes and the Selinger NDP. Trying to make it seem like we are getting some kind of deal and kicking the can down the road to the next election just makes everyone look like an idiot. Come right out and say we are building a $200 million stadium and it is going to cost the taxpayer quite a bit of that total. At this point I am hoping that our Grey Cup isn't a national embarrassment aside from the financial mess. I don't have a lot of hope as a source of mine who worked on the stadium for Stuart Olson Dominion said as of his leaving the project in 2013 that there was no plan for nearly 7000 temporary seats required for the Grey Cup. And this is not a simple thing. There is barely enough egress or concourse space at the facility for 33,000, they had to add more egress to the field to get a temporary occupancy permit in 2013. They have to satisfy the building code and the fire code, and they are just in the planning stages for a game that will happen this year.

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)
But I'd assume Hall will pay more attention to run defense, right? That was the biggest shortcoming of Etch. Everyone wants to stop the run, but not many teams are scheming to do it because it has been rare for teams to continually rely on the run, Hall included. Will they run inside run in practice. Probably, but practices in season have so little contact that it is inconsequential to what happens on gameday. Players make plays, make tackles or they don't. Etcheverry is quirky, but his schemes aren't crazy relative to the rest of the league. The difference between Hall's D and Etcheverry's in 2014 was 7 yards per game and 2 first downs. The last game Hall coached his defense gave up 7 yards a carry when they knew Edmonton's QB's couldn't pass. There won't be a huge difference on the coaching side. Any change will come by upgrading personnel. Benevides would have been a huge departure from Etcheverry in terms of what kinds of players he prefers in the interior of the D and secondary, but Hall is very similar to Etcheverry.

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)
Will be interesting to see the reaction when Hall deploys personnel very similarly to Etcheverry. Guess what? If Wild is back, he'll be playing MLB. Our nose tackle will probably be 280, not 300, and he won't be sitting in the A gaps all game either. Scheme will be very similar. Usually 1 LB and/or the safety blitzing and tons of zone.

Josh Portis contract extended
What does that even mean? If a coach/manager thinks a guy can play for his team he'll sign him if it's his first team or his 100th.

Bombers re-sign Matt Bucknor!
If we hire a DC who expects DB's to be able to play man coverage in the CFL, Bucknor won't be a NI starter for long IMO. But gives them options to build the roster.

Wild Sears try out with Vikings
Sears caused more turnovers than anyone else on our defense to go along with a bunch of tackles for losses, and missed a bunch of games, many being O'Shea's choice to dress Unamba to only chase kicks while leaving guys like Sears and Markett in street clothes. Sears is an elite CFL defender. He'll be playing somewhere next season, wouldn't be surprised if he flees Winnipeg.

Mike Benevides Fired
It's not about being liked, it's about completely losing control of the room, having zero working relationship with the majority of the players and basically completely giving up. Most normal years that 08 team would have been a 3-15 Tim Burke type disaster. That 08 season was just as embarrassing, Berry was saved by Toronto and Hamilton being awful that year and having enough veterans who basically took over that team on offense themselves.

Maurice Leggett signs contract extension
I don't really see an advantage for any GM's. If anything certain guys who hit the open market will prey on a handful of stupid/desperate/Ottawa GM's with cap space and completely skew the market.
-
It's being handled internally
O'Shea has done way more media than he's required to, as have Walters and Miller. For instance, calling into 1290 once a week. For some reason O'Shea's professionalism and unwillingness to stand at the podium and shame his players or coaching staff is a lightning rod for some. Get over it, it's not going to happen. Are we going to have a different version of this thread everyday?

Leggett on verge of extension.
Hopefully fewer snaps for Teague Sherman.

Former Bomber Coach Mike Riley
Nebraska in 1985, 1995 or even 2005 wouldn't have considered hiring someone like Mike Riley. That's my point. Back when Nebraska was a top program they would have been poaching one of the top recruiters who have turned awful programs in Mississippi into national championship contenders or someone like those guys. That program has fallen off a cliff into the abyss of mediocrity and I don't think they could even poach someone who is already in a good power conference job, which is almost unbelievable to me given the prestige of that program when I was growing up. Used to be Nebraska and Miami, now they are getting beat by Minnesota and Duke.

Now that we have the Grey Cup out of the way ...
Lately everytime I read one of Iso's posts I have a flashback to that South Park episode where Cartman takes over the school announcements, writes a book called What Happened to My School and "asks the tough questions."

Former Bomber Coach Mike Riley
As much as Riley is a legend here, it says a lot about how far Nebraska has slipped that he ends up being their next coach. Oregon State haven't posted double digit wins since 2006 and have only been bowl eligible 2 out of the last 5 seasons. Extremely odd hire IMO.

What is the deal with the Grey Cup ticket pricing
I have a hard time justifying $300 for my Grey Cup seat. Only way would be if the Bombers were in it, but can't plan that in advance.

Patrick Neufeld extends contract through 2017
Here's the deal - Wally will fix his problem, not sure the Bomber Brain Trust can do the same! The offensive line has been a problem for Wally for 3 years, remember how they had to start Kabongo and the pollster for 2 years? Not much progress being made there.

Grey Cup 2014
- Grey Cup 2014
Austin's game management and playcalling is what cost you the game. Highly suspect pass protection ruined much. Austin haters have to go nitpicking and still need the luxury of hindsight . 1st and goal from the 2. He's also the GM, the guy who brought Brandon Stewart in to play boundary half, which loses them both playoff games without a ridiculous effort from Banks.- Grey Cup 2014
What did he do? Missed it. Laid on the sideline crying rather than getting out there with the offense to try to win the game.- Grey Cup 2014
After that display at the end of the game I wouldn't be surprised if Austin adds Banks' name to the CFL free agent list. Unbelievable.- Grey Cup 2014
Grigsby LOL. First down, if he falls forward through contact he's got a TD, second down -3 yards arm tackle.- Grey Cup 2014
Handoff to Grigbsy...Austin can't wait to see Imagine Dragons. - Grey Cup 2014
