“It’s the process” Except it’s not. The (16-21) successes resulted from Walters bringing in high level FA’s, not building ground-up with the same guys. 
The Jesse Briggs of the world alone get you the same results as the 14/15 teams had. 
Medlock, Dressler, Harris, Willie ect were all-stars before they got here.
Walters doesn’t get enough credit for the cups and MOS gets too much. There, I said it. 
 

Nah, at least 75% of this board believes, at least to some degree, that the roster use has not been good and that it's literally costing us games, and arguably the past two GCs. You don't have to fully ***** and moan about it, but almost everyone understands this to a degree...

Argos are an organization who are always looking for "the next one" .. it keeps the team competitive both on the field and from a salary cap perspective.

For any team to pretend that Johnny Augustine or Jake Thomas are the best options you can put on the field regardless of passport is insulting to its fans, quite frankly.
This is exactly why I take pause now when people say O’Shea is still the best coach in the league. I’m not really sure how much evidence there is to point to of him coaching much of anything.

I have a feeling that Brady wont be playing.  Even if he is healthy, I can see them sitting him out as he's only practiced a couple of days all camp and season so far.
 

I'd like to see a double blind study. Every CFL FG kicker kicks 20 balls, 10 with and 10 without a chip. No one knows which are which. Then we would find out if it's all in the kickers head or if the chips actually make a difference.

Honestly, I’m not sure you can ever quantify something like this but I would have to suspect word gets around by now about Winnipeg has to be one of the worst places for a young player to come to in the CFL if they want a legitimate opportunity. 
 
And don’t give me all that “what, they don’t wanna win and be a part of an amazing locker room?” nonsense. No, they want an opportunity to compete and maximize their earning potential and playing potential. That’s not here anymore. Veterans don’t even have to participate in training camp but they’re handed spots. We have mismanaged our use of training camp two years in a row.  The practice roster is wasted.
 
I’m not saying every spot needs to be an open competition. But look at Brandon Alexander, he has been clearly falling off in performance for a few years but hasn’t been asked to take a single snap in camp since 2022 and is just handed a job. We had a ton of options to get younger in lieu of trotting out Kyrie Wilson, who was already having his workload managed in camp, but we just hand him the spot despite new players showing incredibly well.
 
How does McManus sell that to a young American player, especially when we’re now competing with other leagues.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at our training camp cuts and depth chart, I don't think one vet lost a spot to another player. Not one cut and not one demoted to a backup role. That seems problematic to me. Not one person that jumped off the chart to gain a spot or a vet that declined to lose a spot (other than those not re-signed)? Not even something somewhat surprising like Eli jumping ahead of Kolankowski or Lofton losing the starting RT spot he was basically assigned when he joined our team? Augustine losing his spot to Rosery?
Perhaps that will change as the season rolls along, but I don't take it as a good sign that we could have penciled in the depth chart other than which rookies grabbed the spots not contested by vets.

Seeing what Toronto put out on the field yesterday was so frustrating. Do they have weak spots? Sure. But the young talent pool is impressive. They lost so many pieces and more just step right up - not necessarily rookies, but guys they’re recruited and developed and now asked to play bigger roles. Brinkman, Pierce, Dukes, Williams, Franklin … they do a good job of talent assessment over there for sure 
It’s not all on Zach though. A lot of it is, but not all of it. It’s crazy how in preseason, you were ALL OVER Booch and I for saying some negative things that ended up being entirely true but now that we’re one game in, you’ve got completely off the deep end on the other side of the argument.
Our preparedness on offense left a lot to be desired. Zach wasn’t making throws, but those throws also involve rhythm, timing, understanding of blocking assignments, chemistry and a lot more. The whole offense was out of sync and Zach is a big part of that but he’s not entirely to blame.

Yeah im starting to get a real bad feeling about this season. Key injuries already, still lots of question marks at important positions, and an aged QB that has so far looked like wet poop. Not a recipe for success.
