It's been all Avs since midway through the first.

Yeah, he’s getting slagged for that one play. Didn’t point a finger at anyone, but pointed out the ridiculous notion that he’d be the primary cover guy on a slot back.
He still shouldn’t have been playing though. If the game plan was that he couldn’t play every snap, then he’s a waste of a roster spot.

I've decided it's time to move on from Hall. I feel he has proven his defences aren't built to close out close games when it matters. Grey Cup 2023. 2022. To a lesser extent 2021. Ottawa. Labour Day. Even the last game against BC where a missed Kramdi tackle somehow allowed us to get to OT.
When the chips are down and the other team needs a field goal, they often seem to get into range easily, and often further.
Maybe it's just me. Or maybe we just need more playmakers. But there is a pattern here.

Actually I didn’t miss that part. I know that Osh’s players love him for that. I just don’t agree that that’s how a coach makes decisions about who gets to play.
Players love him for his loyalty and that’s why players want to come here and stay here. That’s a good thing.
But when that loyalty is dialled up too high it becomes too much of a good thing. Strength tips into excess. And this excess leads him to start 2 injured players who have no business being on the field. Two players who ultimately compromise our ability to win.
And that is not a good thing.
Finally, let me be absolutely crystal clear - I do NOT blame Dalton Schoen or Adam Bighill. Of course they want to play! It is the coach’s job, however, to balance that sense of loyalty with realism… To make those hard decisions that actually give us the best chance to win versus give him the greatest chance of being loved in the moment.
And I know O’Shea‘s philosophy is that ultimately his brand of loyalty pays off in the long run. But I think his practice and philosophy lacks balance and yesterday it cost us again.

Yeah, so we’re playing a very obviously compromised Schoen over healthy options like O’Leary orange or Ambles.
Go read the Winnipeg free press today and look for the quote where Schoen essentially says, “I can’t think of any other coach who would put someone who’s hurt in for a championship game after six weeks of no practice”.
yeah, Dalton, neither can I.

I dont feel vindicated either, as I would rather eat crow, but I will also say I told you so...I took barbs all yr, but seen this song and dance before, and the longer it festered...I knew it would become a huge issue.
I'm more pissed because it didn't have to be as so......and that they allowed the complacency to continue because the win's glossed over a lot of the little issues....and yeah they were little, but at the same time huge, but easily fixed....and we didn't
I like Osh as a coach, but he needs to evolve a bit, and also put his stubborn personal biases to the side for the better of his team, and sometimes not be the buddy, but the guy who makes the hard decisions even tho its the tough one

deepsixemtoboyd reacted to Mike in Which Vets do we cut next season
I don’t feel vindicated at all. I would’ve rather sat here listening to Noeller and TrueBlue4ever tell me what an idiot I am for ever questioning anything our team did.
Feels like ****, man. Is it exactly what I dreaded all year long? Pretty much. We fostered a sense of complacency and just coasted on by thinking we didn’t need every single roster spot in order to win games. I hope our front office takes a long, hard look in the mirror tonight because quite honestly as much as they’re gonna sit here and say all the right things, what they did really was a slap in the face to the fans. You can’t expect to win it all when you openly handcuff yourself and then treat everyone else like they’re the dumb ones for pointing it out.

Thing is he wasn't THAT good in the regular season. Cracks definitely started to show and he was a lot more hit or miss.
Father time is unbeaten and collaros might be at the end of his time as a top tier guy. The comeback was amazing but....

I think Alexander is still a stud, I'd keep him.
Jeffcoat is injury prone, I'd rather the salary go elsewhere. Something something Buono used to cut guys in time etc.. etc...

deepsixemtoboyd reacted to JuranBoldenRules in Which Vets do we cut next season
I think you’re underestimating how tight the margin is in these games. Like say Jeffcoat/Jefferson each get 15 snaps off due to Haba or Garbutt being dressed. They have way more juice for the the 2nd and 18, 3rd and 5 or whatever it would have been if they made the 2nd down play in the final minute.
How does that not have an impact on winning? That’s the exact formula this group was using in 19 and 21….remember the Cheetah package they’d roll a bunch to keep everyone fresh and opposition off balance?
It’s cliche to say “ok get the next play” because everything that happens is cumulative and there’s no way to just suck it up and have that energy difference present itself on that play as it would if you have 15 less snaps on your punchcard.
That’s why it matters.

deepsixemtoboyd reacted to 17to85 in Which Vets do we cut next season
man I dunno if you can say that...
2019 and 2021 we won with depth. We don't have that depth now, especially with bighill and schoen going out there hurt. It comes down to a couple plays? Absolutely it does. So have the right roster so that you have either a) backups who can make that play or b) backups who can take rotations in to keep your stars fresh so they can make that play.
