deepsixemtoboyd reacted to Arnold_Palmer in Bombers at Stamps early chat
I just don’t understand the anti CFL dudes, guys love the NFL and that’s understandable but these same guys are watching NCAA on saturdays, where our players were all super stars or at the very least stars, the talent is great in the CFL, the reason these guys are misses have to do with either coming from smaller schools or they just don’t fit the height and weight criteria the NFL loves looking at. I’m a big NFL guy but I’d watch the Bombers over an NFL game any day of the week.

Brady is big enough to play MAC linebacker. Should we Chris Jones the lineup? /s

While I agree with you that that is the standard they laid out a few years ago, it actually did not make sense to me at the time and still doesn’t. And while I get that in general you’d like to see them make the call in a minute or less, I do feel like what makes the CFL bush is when they have a knee-jerk reaction and say as they did a few years ago, “all calls need to be determined in one quick look at game speed“.
I mean, how stupid is that? what is the purpose of replay if you can’t look at it more than once and slow it down?
I think there is a balance to strike: be as efficient as possible but also accept that there are going to be times where they need to take their time to get it right. I certainly would not want the bombers to lose a game where the other team “picked it off“, but they actually didn’t.
So, in sum: look at it more than once if you need to, be as efficient as possible, and truly hold yourself to the standard that the evidence needs to be irrefutable to overturn what was called on the field.
but I do acknowledge your legitimate frustration when they say they’re going to do one thing and then do another.

This is pretty much Riderfans during any Bomber game

I don't think so. Elks took possession and punted from the same end after it was overturned.

Popped over to Riderfans and apparently we won because the refs favour the Bombers. Never change.

Yeah, you can see that slipping out and hitting the turf. It's better that they got it right, no one can say 'that's why they won'

we got mugged a lot more than they did in the dline holding...but we got away with a few...call that a wash
The Bonds INT...That was a good call...he had help from the ground...a good play tho and forced a punt but we didnt get jobbed there...the PI on on Holm was straight crap tho...and Osh needs to challenge that....he is weak and slow onthe challenges...often

No no. The refs always favor the bombers though
Just ask @lyin' guy and RF.com
"The bombers only had like 3 calls against them!!!!!"
ITs A CoNsPiRaCy for the bombers!!!
Willy J held 10 times, elks receiver trips over his own feet and Holm gets phantom PI: *crickets*

1 - Demski
2 - Lb'ers
3 - Hogan for calling a balanced game.
HH - Holm all over the field tonight.
I did not include Zach as he did still lob several 50/50 balls that were iffy. A better effort but still got away with 2 - 3 passes that could of been picked off.

OK, so we’re agreed that his skills are diminished. And, it would appear he needs quite a bit of help just to be more than meh, let alone “lethal”.
I think that his own diminishment is by far the biggest factor in his struggles and that the o-line was definitely good enough yesterday for a good quarterback to be successful. And he was…on one drive.
After that, not so much.
The bombers need a plan, immediate and mid to longer term, that takes their starter’s diminished skills into account. Maybe they have one. But if the best predictor of future behaviour is past behavior, the bombers’ plan is likely to ride this veteran way too long (exhibit a: see one Adam Bighill).

Well, he’s definitely not getting better! He’s seven years on the wrong side of 30. His arm strength and escapability have both diminished, even considerably.
And Osh will ride him to the bitter end.
Strev, 7 yrs younger, was light years better last week.

Yes, though it’s also important to note strevy was getting the ball out much quicker.

Considering bc has a good talented dl, I think the pass pro was far better than adequate. You just don’t get games with no hits no pressures on a regular basis.
Also, some of his worst throws came with time and a clean pocket. I don’t think a better performance by the ok would’ve changed any thing. He chucked ducks with lots of time and open guys.
No one’s throwing the ball down field on the regular when the wr is already 40 yards out. You’d need to be throwing 70yards down field to hit a guy in stride with the ball out of your hand at a target 40 yards down field.
3-4 seconds is what you aim for, but’s that’s ball out at 20 ish yards and including stepping up and getting it out.
If you watch the advanced feed from tsn, they show the pocket time on the snaps. Zach had lots of 3-4 second pockets, and wasn’t seeing pressure in less than 2.5.

Disagree that protection was the issue last night. Collaros had adequate time for the most part (was he even sacked?) and was going through his progressions. With the two pics, he threw off his back foot. Rainbow throws. The fact that he doesn’t eat those or throw it out of bounds is not on the oline.

Yup...I rewatched and the line wasn't an issue like some make it out to be...it was more a ZC issue..the ones that were apparent last yr already
And that's the indicator in a player...especially at QB that they have or are in regression...
Exactly what I touched on...the fact to we resigned him site unseen for 2026 as well was a bone head move
His scripted first drive was good...after...hit and miss and the hits were not elite qb style hitting
And we are saddled with Osh who will stick with a vet/fav/bias as long as they not in a wheel chair...and that's not good either
