  1. do you remember the pre challenge errors? The calgary on side punt game? the lamar mcgriggs phantom roughing the passer? Ed phillion constantly diving at kharis knees seconds after the whistle? Those cheap shots were the beginning of the end for khari. Challenge those early, and kharis career here is drastically improved. The system is working the right way, and teams are exploiting it in some cases. That means it needs to be refined, not scraped. Its more important to get the key calls right. especially with how the refs have been this year. What needs to change is the time it takes to challenge, the ability for coaches to use them on a play thats allready been reviewed, etc. With this logic we should just get rid of the refs because they arent working the way we want and let the teams play.
  2. never under estimate a wally buono team. If we cross over, ill put money on BC beating the stamps.
  3. its a damn shame. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
  4. No but we could continually put him on the 2 game reserve. If i was any team with struggles at RB I would ****** him in a second.
  5. we wouldnt use him over harris. We dress him as a DI or even start him in place of a ni wr. How? Harris comes back and gives us the extra starting canadian. We play 2 back sets and motion / line one of them up at slot some times. We even have it set up in our offense, the smith/dressler/mcduffie package has us motioning slots into the back field even snapping with wrs in a te/h-back spot. We just use flanders or harris in that spot. I would lean towards harris being the primary back and flanders being the motion back as he is a better pass blocker. The NI wrs are a blind spot 99% of the time in our offense any way. Plop was even coaching here when we had sellers/blink doing the same type of two back offense with lots of screens and releases to both. I dont think thats the type of offense mos wants though so I dont see it happening. Even though it would dramatically improve our offense and even fit with our offensive play style.
  6. dave ritchie would call this bulletin board material. If we face the stumps in the play offs you know that D is gonna be amped up to show him who they are.
  7. it wasnt prevent defense. soft coverage / too deep zone isnt the same thing as prevent.
  8. burnett was close to getting it that was a massive play. Its not enough to win consistently. Calgary has the leagues leading offense. Paredes hadnt had to kick a 50 going into this game.
  9. and like 150 yards of that in the first few drives. After that we did very similar to what we've done on D all year. Loose coverage make them drive the field. Problem is they started in good field position a lot. We arent a big pressure team and the stamps are the best at protecting the pass. Need to be starting heath and frederick. Wild out, and so was justin cole, who has been very very good for us. No cole, wild, frederick, heath didnt start, no darvin adams or sheppard, no mcduffie whose been very good in returns and starting to shine as a wr, and of course no harris. We may have filled the hole of his rushing and receiving, but not his blocking or his pass port. We played an awful first quarter, about as bad as you can, and still had a lead with the diying seconds on the clock. This was as much a win as you can take from a loss. Healthy, and not spotting them 3 tds+ and this game goes very differently. We arent going to become a swaggerville esq high pressure defence. We havent played a full 3 quarters little on a full 4 quarters to date. Room for improvement but you cant expect whole sale change at this point.
  10. Thats not our D. We stunt frequently sending 1 lber or some times a db but virtually never over load. That said the D really shored up after the first quarter. They played more strong football for more of the game. I would allways like to see us more agressive. But BLM and the stamps have given up the least sacks in the league, just blitzing isnt going to change that. He gets rid of the ball quickly, checks down well and has strong steady chemistry with his offense. We gave up 3 tds on D (2 passing 1 rushing) and scored 4 on offense (2 passing 2 rushing) simple fact is we lost this game on teams. 0 fg attempts from medlock, finch put them in great field position all day and paredes had a very strong game.
  11. this place is a ghost town after the loss. Great post as per usual. This team showed a ton of heart in the come back attempt. this is a great chance to get a bunch of coaching done, and to keep the team from becoming over confident. (or to fix it) Idr the last regular season loss that was soo much a heart breaker. We played a half of football and nearly beat the best team in the league, then them streak now. We will be hungry and prepared next time.
  12. I hope this game lights a fire under our @$$ and gets us to finally start playing a full 4 quarters of football. Bloody brilliant game though.
  13. first star tim flanders. Played the whole game like a man possessed. 11-95 1 td 6 catches for 48 yards second star Denmark, a clutch catch 9-84 1 td. third star Nichols. Put up solid numbers despite a poor start and some funky passes. Gave us a chance to win the game late,27-44 287 2 tds 1 rushing td. HH waggoner had 2 nice tackles on Sts and got the stop on the last kick off that set up calgary deep despite there return team running all over us the whole day.
  14. it means we panic and go out and trade for drew willy. giving up 10 first round picks andrew harris and all our qbs. LOL
  15. jones, sherman, jonhson could sit, hurl, briggs gauthier etc. you think it makes more sense to sit out our main returner for 8th players at lb/db especially with our injury issues this year at wr and how good mcduffie has been at wr?
  16. Averages are too subjective with the difference in timing. Not to mention as i stated that you have some guys that are tweeners at wr. 40 yards in 40 yards and virtually every one in the cfl ran in one of those regional or higher level combines. So not liking talking nfl in this way isnt really applicable. Id also argue we see more elite level speedsters. how many sub 180 lbs players in the nfl? How many guys under 5'9? The wider field and more smaller players gives chances to small fast guys that almost never get a look in the nfl. The biggest freaks are certainly down there, but our average wr is probably faster then down there because they have to be bigger and much stronger beating press cover and running between 250lbs+ safetys and lbers. You think the height/weight requirement applies to dbs but not wrs? The nfl standard expected for size at db is smaller then wr. If bolt was a WR coming out in the nfl draft theyd say he needs to add weight. The KR/pr number really illustrates to point well too. You dont get imp dbs that are jamie stoddard slow, but weve seen guys who arent top speed fast at the position.
  17. Idk we put trust into lirim and palardy but it didnt pan out long term. Weve never had a kicker like medlock before, and Id say youd have to go to the pre westwood era for the last time we had a long term reliable high level kicker.
  18. you asked for evidence what more would you like? Do you have any? the 40 is the going rate of measurement for speed in football and has been for ages. Sure some guys are track fast and some guys are football fast. But remove the abnormalities and you have the average. Do you have any idea how many track and field stars play football and play db vs wr? When your the fastest guy on the field the vast majority of the time you are put at wr all the way up. Db hands isnt really the case it used to be. Watch the tip drills in any camp or practice. Look at all the catches weve made this year in the secondary. The difference is having the ball throw to you, and trying to create an opportunity or taking advantage of one that wasnt intended. College wr's who drop too many passed dont just get sent to play corner.
  19. tough is playing a team with a 10-1-1 record that leads the league in points for and points against. Not tough is playing a banged up toronto team thats under .500 whose given up 53 points more then theyve scored. Tough is going through calgary, and bc if you win your first game. Not tough is going through to/ott/ham. I see us winning 10-11 games. Though the cross over would be great, so would hosting a play off game. As long as we get there though ill be pretty happy.
  20. quick step isnt the same thing as flat out speed. And a quick step to close, and get out of the back peddle is whats needed. Quickness, fluid hips but its a technical position. The 6 (5 and 6 are tied) fastest 40 times in nfl during the electronic timing era has 1 cornerback, 3 wrs and a return specialist whose listed as a wr/kr. going back to mix timed eras (manual start electronic finish) times are close, with more wrs in total and a far greater standard deviation. You have guys running 4.7 and slower who are 6'5 230+ and fringe Tes. you think a lot of dbs are returners compared to wrs? Out of the top 10 punt returners in the cfl, 2 are dbs, on kick offs, 1. Tristan jackson in ott is 6th in punts and 7th in kick offs. And he doesnt get reps on D this year short of being used in a pinch.
  21. speed isnt what puts you in position in coverage. its what closes the gap that allows you to make plays or make up for mistakes. Most dbs in the cfl are slower then the wrs and none maybe as fast as the fastest couple of guys.
  22. sneezed really hard i think. richards =/= etienne
  23. haha. Imagine if he was a db though? trying to throw to dressler with outlaw in coverage.
