If he was just some random airlift replacement he'd be out of the league for his hits. If he has one this year the cfl needs to come down hard on him

100 percent dirty hit
-
He beat up on Montreal and Toronto while dropping one of those games. He wasn't particularly good vs cal or the riders. He played 6 games and finished 4. He piled up some yards but that's it. And not vs good defenses. It's only a matter of time again this year before Evans is starting. He was a first year starter flung into the heat of a division race and went to the Grey Cup. Probably the best first year starter in modern history. Pretty much. But that's true of nearly all the teams this year.
-
He got injured but was among the league leaders in picks with 7 to 9 tds. Dane Evans was playing as well or better than Masolis career best. Their offense was much better with Dane.
-
I don't get the Masoli love tbh. I think he had one good year and has only been consistent in losing the starting job. Evans was exceptional in his first year starting. He got beat up in the gc but our dl also ate the cats ol raw.
-
Reilly is banged up. And it's Campbell's first year with a low experience coaching staff plus he's gm hc and d cor. Plus that Dline has 1 vet. They have some decent weapons on offense a solid ol and some good building pieces. That offense will be competitive for a while but teams are gonna roll over their d. I think this is gonna be the end of Mr in bc. They could stay in the picture in the west for a bit but I don't see them having any where near the depth to excel in a season line this. I think Montreal ham edm and us are better.
-
The 3dn article was much better. Most people had us 2nd and riders last or 2nd last. Qft and the right vet qb.
-
There is alot of room for interpretation and fudgery. A calf injury could be a serious high ankle strain a little tightness or a bunch of things. All in all I like them. It'll be interesting if they have to get more in depth when a guy goes on the ir.

The annual final standings and or season awards predictions. West. 1 Wpg 2 Edmonton 3 cal 4 ssk 5 bc East. 1 mtl 2 ham 3 to 4 ott I think the most wins we will see for a team this season is 12. With tight competition down to the last week for play off spots. Gonna say Rocquemore is our roty candidate. Zach is our MOP Harris goes over 1k receiving this year but with less running load stanback leads the league. Gonna say 2 other bombers woli and Lawler go for over 1k too. Jeffcoat gives willy a run for his money in sacks and bighill gives him a run in modp but wj repeats as modp. Hardrick gets a nod for mol but doesn't win. Harris again is our moc.

There is no more squeeze. Either you are in side shoulder and in the gap or not. Not every team runs zone. They will run plays where one or maybe two guys pull or take a zone assignment. But not the whole line. It's not some thing you can plug in with limited reps and do well with. Yes linemen do. If a pass rusher is out side of their frame or if they can pan cake on follow through or if they are just beaten. It's like option packages. Virtually no one is committed to it. But with real zone like midline option which is as basic as it gets none zone teams run fake zone with a center push and guard on zone. Meant tackle not guard. Though if a t is beaten while pinching zone teams will have a c in side out to catch the rusher. Pinching is not Harder or more demanding. Every teams fan base thinks their best guard is maybe the leagues best. Good ols are lead by tackles. It is the least demanding position and easiest covered for. Half the time you get help and you can't easily get out beaten wide. Last year the riders covered for lack of pass pro with quick hit timing routes and Fajardo on the spin move. He beat pressure off the edge frequently enough and a lot of the sacks Given up where inside pressure. Go watch Bob wylies interview in the pre season of his 2nd year here and read the article Tait did with it. Sacks allowed are not a measure of success or failure by and ol.

Demski would be the next rb. I don't think we'd di a rb Nelson and Grant. Nelson is also a guy whose played rb some in college. Grant even had 50 ish carries in college.
-
Thanks. It's a good read but I think Harris is well above Masoli. Yeah he's a rare combo of a big play guy and an extremely versatile skill set. Should be fun if he's able to stay healthy. https://www.tusculumpioneers.com/sports/fball/2019-20/bios/alford_dee_ir5h https://www.nfldraftdiamonds.com/2019/05/dee-alford/ Dominant small d2 school db and return man. Tall thin and 4.4 speed. We really seemed to dig deep through the position transition and small school pool. They seem really high on roc. Could see a lot of reps or they could use that spot to rotate more ends etc. I think antigha probably rotates in packages because he can do soo much.
-
Could be upper ankle sprain or plantar facia injury.
-
Can you link it I didn't see this. I think our running game with this ol is gonna be good even when Harris misses. But the blocking and catching I worry about. I hope we see a bit more of demski running the ball too.
-
I think we will see one back soon ish. But I'm worried about Harris. I think this is an awful decision for them. I get the feeling that who ever loses is gonna turn it into the excuse bowl for their lose. And I don't think it's gonna be us.
-
It isnt. Watch other teams guard play. Guard is just easier to hide in pass pro. He might be the 6th ol on most teams but wouldn't start for more than half. Mbt wasn't drafted and signed with 7 different nfl teams and made 4 or so teams. Lots of outlier facts can get you on a team. Running out every play High football iq etc. It isnt at all what you said. Idk how you can think it was. Pinching isn't harder. It is not more athletically demanding either. If some one speed rushes the edge because then the guard opens their hips and meets the rusher. They don't have to take them head on and have a power angle for leverage. Zone blocking demands far more athletically. Every team pinches tackles situational.
-
Eh the rust factor is real. They both haven't played since the Grey Cup and had limited reps in tc. We have a new oc too. I don't think those guys will start this week. Even if they are 100 percent healthy they won't have reps or have shaken off the rust.

Labbatte is replacement level around the league at best. He wouldnt crack our top 7. Hes not a top guard and hasnt been in a good while. You dont have to be a good player, the biggest busts in nfl history got multiple chances. If you are big and athletic but cant play a lick you can get multiple looks. Even more so if you are an outlier in size or speed for your nfl position. The NFL has a massive number of players invited to camp, not all of them are good players and many of them have been in other camps or will be. Pat barnes was not a good player. Bond was a huge dollar pick up, he was brought in and then moved to T. We saw previously here he couldnt excel at tackle. You dont sign a huge dollar vet all star ol only hoping he could play another position then cut him. Thats revisionist history. With both bond and dennis the riders though they could plug new pieces into a bad OL and cure the bad OL. But thats not how it works. OL more than any other position is not the sum of its parts. Its the strength of the group as a unit. Pinching the tackles for gap elimination is not harder on the tackle its the other way around. Playing tackle on an island is harder. Its also some thing every team does situationally. Especially if you primarily run man blocking schemes instead of zone.

Stanley bryant has yet to taper off. Knock on wood.
-
Sacks aren't the be all and end all stat for an ol. Fajardo ran for his life and avoided a bunch of sacks. The number of pressures given up by the ssk ol was among the worst. A hofer past his prime is not an asset. In Winnipeg we've had a few of those guys over the years. Allstar status in the cfl is junk. We've seen Allstars one year un signed by any team the next year. It's a popularity contest among good teams. Not an indicator of success. Sitting on a pr in the NFL as an ol also does not mean you can play it means you have potential and size. The worst teams and units make poor use of good talent. And even at that who is projecting this plus bad olines cycle through other teams former guys like crazy trying to find replacements. Good teams do this and succeed like we did with bond Hardrick and Neufeld. Bad teams do this and fail to utilize players well and cut good players. Like the riders cutting bond dennis etc. We've seen in the past every team get rid of or not retain a depth guy for a vet only for the depth guy to grow into a star. Bad teams cling to old Bad players and let good players go all the time.

2021 Blue Bombers Training Camp/Pre-Season Stuff
wbbfan replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't think it's Jake or Kongbo at all if healthy. I like wil is the deciding factor. I don't think we keep Antigha rocq and kyrie all on the roster long term. I think onyeka is likely to draw in for teams play. Also I see more reps for kongbo and hansen this year. Briggs could also get more reps on d. -

Nailed it other wise though. Gonna be interesting to see who is healthy this week. I hope to see rose as a back up dt this year at some point. I love linemen who can run. They can be huge on teams. -
That ol was among the worst before the retirements.
