  1. I see rotational piece quality in both, this year, for sure. Idk about that. IF we are going for a run, stopping base, we would want Lawson and Ceresna on the field. Not really Nuer. He's undersized and has struggled to disengage blocks to get into the run game. If anything, that is a time I'd flip Ceresna to the edge, beside a tweener big like Fletcher/Young in camp right now. Even though he's undersized a bit, KMB is much better vs the run than you'd expect. I'd also look to the 30 front in that case, with 3 big bulls you completely shut the interior gaps and force the run off tackle to one of our many Wil type bodies. In 1 year, Smith caught Ayers in terms of playmaking. Which is no small feat. Smith's intangibles are off the chart, which, combined with top-tier athleticism and the right passport, should be a first-class ticket to major reps.
  2. 100% He floated some deep balls that went for long completions when they should've been TDs, but he played his best in the play offs and put us in a position to win each time. He was really the anti zach. If zach played in the post season like nichols, we'd have won 4 in a row with ease. I mean, they said the same thing in edmonton. Lapo and Nichols was the most extreme dink and dunk combo ever. If you had 1 with some one to help offset their weaknesses you'd be ok. But together, it was a recipe for a massive work load on Medlock. Idk, wasn't his last game played here when he got booed off the field at home and whined about it in the interview after? I think that stuff impacted Nichols more than most qbs, but his wife did do a great job of helping him try to spin it. Ring of honour for high-quality people in blue n gold. The village of Walbys Warriors.
  3. his get off move and speed was exceptional. We could sure use a bit of that now
  4. if we kick/punt that many times sure. I’d love for them to get 10+ D snaps a game. Hell split 10-15 that’d be some thing. Smith is far more ready as a player, he’s fully ready to atleast platoon at lber imo. If not start. Shay is at a position where he is more likely to get reps though. normally i’d agree for smith. The problem is he’s buried on the depth chart at lber. I don’t think mos will be quick to flip ratio at lber. We’ve only done that during his time here due to injury. I would in a heart beat. I’d much rather use the starting imp at wr or ol. 100%. He’s got the best inside track of any rookie on this team by a mile. If hooper over achieves enough to back up/rotate, Or if smith/shay step up into meaningful reps, nuer could play a lot of reps at de. I think nuers biggest concern will be rookie wall especially with his size. He probably needs his reps kept down to keep him from going full devin adams.
  5. I’m not exactly a nichols booster, but I think that’s reasonable. Def not roh guy, but bb hof qb? why not i can’t think of any one not in whose better (and retired)
  6. Yeah I can’t see us going 7ol, mci, peterson, clercius and daniels. Just too many big blocking bodies. Plus Schmekel. Those other guys bring contribution to other areas, a 7th ol is just too much roster waste. If we start vanterpool or randolph at guard, and have wallace as the 6th, we have guys who can slide in at C or bump over to T and cover all spots in case of injury.
  7. Not that i’ve seen. I could see us starting 2 and having clercius/daniels rotate as package guys. Whites played 5 years in the league and could be used rostered as the naturalized player. So we use that and have half his snaps counted as a canadian with two other americans, then have clercius/daniels play snaps to keep the ratio.
  8. I wonder if he either wasn’t 100% or didn’t look good post injury. If he’s not physically toast i’d bring him into camp for a look. he’d be our 3rd best dt by a mile
  9. oh man some deep cuts there. our antonio brown not that antonio brown was a gooder. kamau caught every thing under the sun, what a pair of hands….
  10. Bailey is a beast, and he has some freakish strength that really surprises people with his size. Reminds me a lot of Gavin Walls, not as strong, lengthy, and of course, without the polish.
  11. Strength of the team is a tough one. Did Flutie ever start on a bad or average team? Do we downgrade Zach's renaissance because he was on a generational team? Does that, by extension, nearly wipe out Kharis' career? What about AC's loyalty to the Als or his willingness to remake himself late in his career? Something similar can be said of all the top QBs. Some of those factors are bigger than others. Imo, the big ones are Danny Mac just slinging it on so many bad or mediocre teams (while piling up the picks), Allen padding numbers like emmit smith while only having a small number of good passing years, Harris/KG padding on good teams and not elevating teams, and just the vastly different era for guys before Brock/Moon/Clements. Even that era, up through Khari to the modern era, is a massive change. Nothing is gained by reducing the greatness of any of those guys, though.
  12. Yep. Chris carter used to run a camp that helped a ton of guys to refine their speed and athletic measurables. Especially 1 sport football players who don't have natural speed. I know a bunch of camps like that operate now to help kids pre-combine down south. A movement coach might even help him a ton. Yep, plenty of use for a guy like that. Red zone fade route, even a drag route behind the play as a check down in the red zone will be good. Agudosi had the bid height and length, but didn't use it well enough at WR. Prefering to body catch, a guy this big, who uses his size and length to hand catch balls, with the right passport and tons of blocking/teams use, will be a great end of the roster guy at worst.
  13. For what its worth, he doesn't look like hes 270 or too heavy. Havent seen enough to be sure yet, but Im not sure he will see significant increases in speed by losing weight. Especially 15-20 lbs. Still, he's about as fast as corcoran but a giant mean ass blocking version of him. I agree, his offensive side will likely be gadget stuff for a good while. But there is a lot of gadget you can work with him. Simple stuff like block and release, or screening him off brady to the same side but in a split, or across brady in a mesh.
  14. Good point. He’s got to be in the top tier. same with zach tbh I had both Etch is a good pick, it’s soo hard to compare even 80s guys to today, his era is nearly impossible I’d take clement’s over a bunch of guys above him, better leader better football player, but not the qb who padded or team hopped
  15. I love that dante uses his frame to its fullest and goes up to high point balls. Even with out a massive vert he’s gonna be soo tough to cover. I think he might flex or motion out for some routes. Could have him cross the formation into a slot waggle forcing a wil or small db to switch to him.
  16. That's true to an extent, but watch the GC games he lost, or his playoff games, and you'd wonder how he lasted so long. I think Matty wins 4 gcs in a row here. First ballot hof? I hate that the time you go in is a thing, but he is for sure. Is he a top 10 QB? I hadn't thought about it, that's kind of interesting. For me, Flutie, Ac, Ray, Hank, BLM, and Allen are ahead of him. Between KG, Danny Mac, Lancaster, Dunigan, Ham, Clements, and Zach, you have 2 hard cuts to make the top 10. With guys like Austin, Harris, Brock, and Reily on the outside edge. Personally, I'd push Danny and Lancaster to the bottom of that pack. However, I could see someone pushing KG down instead of Lancaster. Or maybe bumping Reilly up for one of those guys. Top 10 QBs of all time? Yeah, right now I think I'd put him in the 8-10 range. Though Harris could still move up, Zach might even be able to catch BLM. I am trying to be easier on the older QBs due to the era they played in, part of me wants to downgrade guys like Allen, Mac, and Lancaster a good bit. It is, however, a privilege to get to watch BLM, Harris, and Zach battle down the stretch of their respective careers. They've all had a wild ride, including being written off and making unreal comebacks. Neck and neck down the stretch, all battling for current and career accolades.
  17. Id love to hear an honest appraisal of expectations and excitement for camp. FA and the draft were big wins for the front office and staff. I wouldn't expect him to single guys out, but talking positionally about how guys are gonna get a shot at DE or C would be good. Talking about how we moved to a younger, more athletic roster, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out vs the vets. Personally, I'm numb to the fact that the last thing mos wants to do in any interview or coaches show is talk Xs/Os, positional play, players, etc. It is what it is. You can do that, though, without having to walk a line like a politician as a coach. Anyone who walks up to Mos or Walters can have a great conversation on all things football. But put a semi-formal setting around mos, and you get drivel. To be fair, I bet the coaches' show would be a lot better if it were with brown or both PBP and color. Doug would push far more interesting questions, and if he got chippy, mos would brush it off but take it well. But that content, and his interviews in general are not aimed at fans like myself or most of the people here. It's aimed at the senior citizens who listen to OB and sit in coffee shops.
  18. Mid-season of the worst case scenario, JT in pads drives a car with a police escort to the airport to pick up Chris Streveler. Season saved, MOS dream come true LOL
  19. Hard to say. We've seen zach go off for 3-4 tds and 300 ish yards in a half or less a few times here. But we always took our foot off the gas and ended up pulling him. Zach would have a chance at replicating the production of that game, though not a fantastic chance. Thing is, Matty could've had more in that game. Yep, it didn't last as long as it should, but damn he burned bright in his prime.
  20. not his sustained success. Short term i’d put prime dunigan up to that task though. He did a lot and had a lot less to work with
  21. Yep. And I am sure that with the rookie camp, we will shuffle some new guys in for our camp, and then again when NFL cuts happen. A bookend is something you should be able to find a pretty good rookie at as well. Not someone who is gonna put up 10+ sacks with elite speed, but a poor man's Jeffcoat who is in the 260 range and maybe can slide inside from some 3t reps, and 4i in the 30 front. We don't need the sack master (though it would be nice), we need a high-floor guy who can bullrush a large majority of his snaps and keep the T honest, while taking advantage of the fact he will never see a double team playing alongside New jake, wj, and lawson. We have 3 guys specifically on the NL in: Kris Trinidad, Demone Harris, and Xavier Carlton. All 6'4-6'6 and 270-275lbs range. Trinidad had a good 4-year starter career at Old Dominion with a great motor and phenomenal testing numbers (4.8 40, 25 reps, 9'7 broad, 7.45 3 cone, 4.31 SS, 30" vert, 80" wingspan). Despite that, all he got was a rookie camp invite with the bills. Carelton had a cup of coffee in the NFL and has been in the UFL this year. He doesn't have the elite athleticism like Trinidad, and despite being raw he is an extremely talented bull of a DL who wins battles and makes plays. 6 games into the UFL season he has 30 tackles, 4TFL, 1 sack, 2 PKDs, 13 pressures, 5 hits, and 6 hurries. Thats with 12 players have 100 or more pass rush attempts on his team. 131 run D snaps and he only has 1 missed tackle, the lowest rate on his team, while being the highest rated run stopping dl. Harris spent a good chunk of time in the NFL, and has been in the UFL this season. Hes doing pretty well, but at age 30 chances of him getting an NFL look out of the UFL are kind of slim. The UFL season is over at the end of this month. He has 3 sacks, and a staggering volume of pressure/hit/hurries and the 2nd highest win rate for pass rushers on his team. On top of that we have a few pretty mature true bookend types on the NL. aannnd hes cut. lol JK We sure have brought in a bunch of size again at DB. Saw the same thing last year. Took a while for the young guys to work in, but they made an impact for us by mid season.
  22. Roster is very deep, lots of talent with a mix of youth and experience. Its really just the 2nd DE spot that we need some one to step up and take.
  23. Always a tremendous luxury to have. Brown would be massive. I think the only larger upgrade would by tyrone jones. With our pass rush deficiency, adding a prime Tyrone would be unreal. At this rate IDK if I will live long enough to see some one put up around 100 sacks in a career here. Ok, actually, prime qb would be the biggest ugprade for winning.
  24. Riders suck. BC too. Finally football season!
  25. Id 100% bring him in for camp at least. If we are really going in this direction, we need depth. MCI has done a good job of picking up FB duties, but he's still really raw. LFG
