Bombers will surprise a few people this year. I think the last two home games both against the Lions will bring out the fans and as a consequence we will capture 2nd place. That will result in a home playoff game against the...Lions. We will be hating those bastards by that time. Not hating them as much as the greenies from saskabush, but it will be a damn good rivalry.

As for the green pond scum, with no legitimate starting qb, they will finish last again. Two wins at the very most. They should also finish last because their fans are bums and primates. Worst sports fans ever. I wanna puke just thinking of their fans.

Last night it occurred to me, that I don't hate any sports team. The only two exceptions are: the Edmonton Oilers, hate em, and the slim ball sask football squad and that's only because of the ignorant stupid hillbilly fans. Saw one wearing a frickin green jersey at the Vatican. Complete bone heads with no respect.

6 or 7 at least. Not a big Glenn fan myself but 48k passing yards says he can at least play in the league

Well, it's helped he's been in the league for the better part of two decades...

"Receiver Tori Gurley happy to be with Redblacks after 2016 'mistake' with Bombers"

    http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/local-sports/redblacks-snapshots-8?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CflOttawaCitizen+(Feedrinse+Authors-Ottawa+Citizen)

Let's look at what Gurley said:

    Quote

“It was a learning experience,” the 29-year-old receiver, who signed with Ottawa a month ago, said Friday. “I felt like I should have been here. I let a personal decision come in between that. Now I’m able to right my wrongs and I’m here and ready to work. I just thought it was a better fit for me to be in Winnipeg. Obviously I was wrong about that.”

“(Going to a new team late in the Canadian Football League season), it’s tough. When you have a person come over in Week 13 or 14 of the season, I didn’t have a rapport with any of those guys. When I was speaking with (the Blue Bombers),  it was all about me being big, posting up and making plays on the perimeter. I thought that’s what I was going to be used for. It just didn’t work out that way.”

Nothing nefarious at all. He expected A and what happened was B, whatever the circumstances were. Gurley didn't say anything wrong and that title is just pathetic clickbait. Tim Baines is being an idiot, trying to create drama where there is none.

EDIT: Although, I find it kinda silly to say he should've been there (as in with Ottawa). Of course he'd say that in retrospect now that the RedBlacks are the defending champions. LOL

  3. Bob Irving has put up with a lot of crap from the WFC but he's always handled it like a pro and tells it like it is, regardless of how ugly or brutal it was. There's something to be said for a person like that, especially in today's sports world where it seems like having a homer bias is just par for the course and being negative is almost frowned upon. Knuckles' approach to covering the Bombers remains consistent, honest, and impartial. It's old school but I gotta say it's damned refreshing. A rare breed, to be sure.

I really hope the Bombers can win a championship soon - for him. I mean, obviously for everyone but especially him.

If Nichols and the rest of the team continues to progress, I think 12 and 6 is realistic. The jokers in the deck are whether or not we will have a solid MLB and a couple of receivers who can stretch the field.

I think the receiving corps should be okay, barring any injuries. Adams was on a torrid pace last season before getting injured and Denmark had some incredible chemistry with Nichols last season, too.

MLB is the question mark and major concern at this point, IMO.

They wouldn't be returned to the US because the US won't take back someone who was there illegally. If a claim is rejected, the person would be sent back to the country he/she originally came from.

It's not quite that simple. What about a stateless person? Or a person without a passport or other travel document showing their country of birth?

These are aspects investigated by immigration officials during the interview process, which can be very lengthy when there is missing or a lack of documentation pertaining to an individual seeking asylum.

So let me get this straight... Ripper says LeFevour is proven to be bad.  However on only a few weeks notice he managed 330 yards and four TDs against us.

Ripper also says Nichols only looked good because of our awesome defense and essentially  Nichols only put up numbers because of the D.

    I love Rider logic....

  7. Here's more information on The Safe Third Country Agreement (the link is in a previous post I made):

    Quote

The Safe Third Country Agreement, signed between Canada and the United States (U.S.) in 2004, requires that refugee claimants seek protection in the first safe country in which they arrive. The Agreement applies to those making an asylum claim at a land border port of entry between Canada and the U.S. It does not apply to those who arrive from the U.S. by sea, between the ports of entry or an inland port such as an airport.

Since the 1980s, countries around the world have been using safe third country-type agreements as a way to address pressures on domestic asylum systems from the continued growth of global migration. Since the mid-1990s, the United Nations Refugee Agency has supported these types of agreements.

The Agreement between Canada and the U.S. is premised on the principle, accepted by the United Nations Refugee Agency, that individuals should seek asylum in the first country they arrive in. U.S. compliance with treaty obligations is overseen by an independent judiciary. The Safe Third Country Agreement remains an important tool for Canada and the U.S. to work together on the orderly handling of refugee claims made in our countries.

The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act requires the continual review of all countries designated as safe third countries to ensure that the conditions that led to the designation as a safe third country continue to be met. The asylum system in the U.S. continues to meet the international standards and therefore the U.S. continues to be a safe third country.

There are four types of exceptions to the Safe Third Country Agreement: refugee claimants who have a family member in Canada; unaccompanied minors under the age of 18; individuals holding a valid Canadian visa; and those who have been charged with or convicted of an offence that could subject them to the death penalty in the U.S. or in a third country. Also, the agreement does not apply to claimants who have entered Canada at a location that is not a port of entry.

That would be a quick process and I'd be sent back and charged.  The fact so many people can spill over the border should be concerning.

It is concerning. I don't think anyone's arguing that. When you consider the current situation in the US and the fact Canada and the US share the longest and technically unprotected* international land border on Earth, nobody should be surprised at what's been happening. Historically, however, it's not like this just started happening when Trump was elected POTUS. It's been an ongoing phenomenon for years.

*meaning the areas between border ports of entry are essentially wide open

As a outsider looking in I find it interesting that Nichols gets so much credit for your season last year when IMO it was the defense that did the job. Nichols didn't hurt you and did have some good games but that's about it.

Actually, the consensus is Nichols gets deserving credit for what he contributed. You obviously didn't watch the Bombers much, if at all, last season if you think it was strictly the defense who "did the job". The difference between Willy at the helm and then Nichols was significant; the latter was actually able to execute plays and move the chains, not to mention protect the ball.

Nichols had his best season in 2016 and while he didn't light up the stats sheet, he proved his worth with not only with his play but his leadership. Strange how you can't see that and give credit where it's due. Or you just choose not to see it.

Staggering?  interesting that you are sure your backups are so much better than ours. Guess we'll see won't we

Stellar deflection. I guess that's all you can hope for when you don't have a counterpoint, eh. But okay, I'll bite. The Bombers have a backup with CFL experience (LeFevour). Can't say the same for your boys in green.

    Nichols - Davis - LeFevour

    Glenn - Bennett - Young

It doesn't take much to see which trio is better.

We had the second worse rush defense in the CFL in 2015 when Hurl was MLB. Why are we even wasting 1st team reps on him? If they need a NI there, use Miles who actually played better there in Toronto than Hurl ever has.

And it didn't improve much last season even when Hurl was replaced. This just shows there's more to a good rush defense than one player, namely a strong defensive line. The Bombers haven't had a strong defensive line for a while now and it's exposed the LB corps. To be clear, I'm not defending Hurl but there's more to the picture than just him.

I would say this is more of an indictment of the offensive line recruitment and development.  We should be able to replace either Bond or Hardrick with a national.  Then an import at Mike makes sense.  The way our team is currently comprised we really need to start each game with 8 nationals.

Disagree. The O-line has improved dramatically with the additions of Bond and Hardrick, particularly the former. The Bombers have pretty decent ratio flexibility and the last thing they should do is shake up the O-line, IMO.

That's the thing, Kevin Glenn will look very competent at times and put up some nice numbers, but that's not the same as putting W's up on the board. Reality is he's not very good at doing that.

Probably because winning is a team accomplishment. A good QB can put up solid numbers but if the team as a whole stinks, they'll lose more than they win. When Glenn's had a good supporting cast, he's managed to put up some solid numbers (2004 - 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013). However, I don't think that'll be the case this season and his age only worsens the situation.

Jones has mismanaged his QB situation terribly. The drop-off after Glenn is staggering.
