TORONTO — The Canadian Football League has issued a statement regarding the recent signing of Khalif Mitchell by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

On Thursday, Commissioner Jeffrey L. Orridge stated the following:

There is absolutely no place in our league for commentary used to divide or disparage people on the basis of their religion, race, gender or sexual orientation. Such commentary not only may bring the CFL into disrepute; it can promote hate today and dishonour all those who have been subjected to hate over the course of history.

Our social media policy expressly prohibits a current player, team or league employee from using social media, including the retweeting or reposting of someone else’s comments, to condone discrimination, harassment or violence. This is why in May, 2015, this league fined Khalif Mitchell, then in the employ of a CFL club, for violating our policy. It is also why, at that time, our office helped broker a meeting for him with a representative of B’Nai Brith Canada, to facilitate his education on human rights matters.

Since Mitchell has now returned to our league, with another club, his new employer has reached out to the league office to assure us they too take this matter very seriously and any such inappropriate behaviour from Mitchell will result in his immediate dismissal. We too will monitor any commentary he may make as a member of our League. We fully acknowledge that our employees, including our players, have a right to hold and express opinions. But in absolutely no circumstance do we condone activity or comments that are derogatory or inappropriate. Such comments, which put the League’s reputation as a progressive and positive member of the community in question, will not be tolerated.

Its because you are winning and that trumps everything. When you lose those missed chances will be front and center. Last week you guys only scored one offensive td, a late running play by Harris. The Bomber are a qb away from being a really good team.

I will hand it to the CFL, in one tweet they were actually able to unite the Winnipeg and Saskatchewan fan bases.

We might have to cut back Brett Favre's and a few others pay on the taxi squad but we can make it work.

I like some of the things Jennings is doing. I agree coming along but not quite in the conversation yet as one of the better qb's in league

I agree that Willy is more talented than Nichols. You can't however switch players and expect the same results. Whether anyone likes it or not, the team believes in Nichols and is rallying around him. He isn't forcing it and isn't turning the ball over. He isn't hanging on to the ball too long. A lot easier to block for someone like that and I believe that is why the Oline all the sudden is night and day better. They know they only have to block for a few seconds and the ball will be gone which leads to less holding calls. Lapolice is calling plays that see Nichols being successful. The team believes Nichols will keep them in it and give them a chance to win, and it is infectious. Doesn't mean Willy will never play again but at this point Nichols took Drew's lunch money and his job and is making the most of it. It is my opinion that all the other facets of the team are playing better because Nichols is in there.

I'm no Rider fan as you all know but Durant is a proven winner in this league & deserves his due. He beat Calgary twice in the Western Final. Right now, Durant could start on most teams with the exception of Edmonton, Hamilton & Calgary.

I think the turnaround is due to Nichols.  For whatever reason, Willy had/has a very difficult time reading defense, and Lapo's offence doesn't suit Willy's play style.
When Nichols took over, the offence immediately clicked.   That sent a message to the defense: "The offence will move the ball, so let's get it back to them".    That probably sparked the brain child in Richie Hall to say "Hey we can be more aggressive".
Benching Willy provided the chain reaction of sparks that this team desperately needed.  Benching your highest paid player,  sends a very clear message to the rest of the team.  We're seeing it paying off.

I'm not enjoying the trash talk as much this year being how we are trash ourselves on the field.  But I'm trying.
