  1. Today
  2. Finally got through the first act and found the rest way more engaging. I can see why people like it but it certainly won't be one I revisit.
  3. Looks like Ottawa has picked up Ronnie Brown. Now he can go angry tweet to their media guys. 😂
  4. Rule changes are evolving in fits and leaps ... nuancing such is for discussion boards What matters is concussion insurance claims ... they will be an item at the next player association negotiations
  5. Pro sports is fully invested in denying the science of brain injuries, wouldn't want the gravy train to fly off the track. There really is no solution to preventing concussions without drastically altering the physical nature of the game. Lawyers are kept busy amping up the protection of the wealthy owners, they need to make sure players sign a detailed waiver before they take the field to keep the cash flowing.
  6. I'd rather think of it as if we don't blitz every other play against max protection we would have won.
  7. Goaltending definitely the difference in this series.
  8. Sure a good bit has changed, maybe half as much as the changes we’ve seen to protect the qbs though. If that.
  9. Crazy to think if Houston makes one play we still would have won.
  10. Carolina was half a period away from forcing game 7 after being down 3-0 but an epic collapse in the third period ends their season.
  11. Sorry but if you think nothing has changed in terms of preventing head injuries in contact sports you must have been in a coma for the past 30 years.
  12. This is basically paraphrasing what I said a page ago, which you then tried to use against me in the training camp thread. To quote you, when I made this exact point I was "dictating that the league and teams dont know how to coach tackling or prevent concussions as well as you."
  13. Yeah that’s a drawback for sure, and I’m a huge fan of his play.
  14. Yesterday
  15. Darren Dutchyshen, longtime TSN broadcaster, dead at 57 (msn.com) RIP Dutchy. Will miss his politically incorrect humour on TSN. It all falls on Jay Onrait now...
  16. It feels like football at large is throwing random crap at the wall to deal with concussion issues. Rather than having a well thought out multi pronged approach with defined success criteria. If it was a revenue concern you know they would have a much better plan and process implemented. Direct impacts cause concussions for sure. But, change of direction hits and whip effects cause a lot too. Guardian helmets, the new gen helmets, next gen and beyond next gen helmets are all mitigation on a fraction of the causes. Not prevention. It doesn’t matter if you have the 1 piece shoulder pads and helmet or a perfect absorbing piece of future gear. Moving at high speed then being forcefully stopped quickly is terrible on the brain and body. No piece of gear is going to stop your brain sloshing in your skull. What is needed, to start, is a change to the culture of bringing guys down. Technique changes reinforced by rule changes from the grass level on up. Better gear is always good to have, better self protection when it comes to absorbing hits and going to the ground is as big.
  17. I've had hangovers like that myself....especially after the last Grey Cup...
  18. It’s either a real good thing that our rookie camp cuts are being picked up or real bad that this is the best the rbs can do. Our camp talent level is extremely good, maybe it’s lazy or maybe they really liked him in scouting previously.
  19. SIGNAGE SIGHTING! https://accesswinnipeg.com/2024/05/krispy-kreme-winnipeg-construction-update-may-2024/
  20. I fear I might be getting "darned with faint praise" here....lol....jk Cotton... Not sure why with that handle that this isn't your avatar....
  21. Ronnie Brown? I've heard numerous people say that he's the quickest and most agile running back currently playing in the game! Not as fast as your response, apparently. Hahaha! I appreciate a person with equally sharp wit to I.
  22. kind of like Mark Messier - in those last two years of his career he was skating around looking like he had a piano tied to his butt. He didn't seem to get it that his days were over, and so finally it had to come to no one wanting to sign him for him to realize it was over. Too bad. And too bad that teams like Vancouver and New York were still enabling his delusions. I heard that he's pretty fast.
  23. Looks like Ottawa signed the cut RB Ronnie Brown
  24. Yeah...but some people around here like to spin things to fit their sad narrative and uninformed view....it's expected
  25. Not to speak for him...but I haven't seen him say they shouldn't wear them. Just that they don't stop a huge aspect of the problem.
