  2. Might aswell start the thread now. 24 hours before kick-off. Go Als.
  3. ALs players were chilling at my work a bit last night. Didn’t recognize any honestly but Very friendly and find myself cheering for them now. Have seen people in green but honestly not as many as I thought. I did laugh when I saw 2 old men eating and drinking together. One wearing an als jersey the other a riders jersey and jacket. That’s the CFL. CFL needs to promote how fan friendly the players are tho. And how they just are the average person compared to other sports. I’ve met jets players, they have come in also and honestly it’s kinda circus like at times, and they have this aura that they better than you and you know it. CFL players blend in. Humble. Normal. Down to earth. Your equal.
  4. Starting Cdns are amongst the highest paid Dline Robbie SMith at 305k (tell me that isnt a bigger overpay than Olivera), then next is Betts Dback - 3 of the top 4 highest paid are cdns - Ford (and he was just reupped at 230k), Dequoy, and Campbell (How is Kramdl the highest paid db on our team btw = other than because hes cdn) Oline top 3 salaries are cdn Hunter, Ferland Korte Recievers McInnis is the 2nd highest Demski 4th, and tell me how Gittens jr isnt a massive overpay at 210k. Just wait til mtrl's Philpot hits free agency this upcoming year. the highest paid rb as you mentioned Brady is in a class by himself and at qb another cdn Roarke.
  5. Stoops certainly has the pedigree. Highlights are interesting. It’s kinda difficult without the waggle to tell how he would do. I’m sure if I saw Schoen or milt even in college I’d prob think the same. Doesn’t hurt to see if he has interest in coming up. If he does worst case he’s cut best case he becomes a star. Seems like it’s all about the waggle for guys coming up here. Pick it up quick and you got potential. Don’t and you don’t really. 10 TDS in 13 games is pretty impressive either way. I see speed mentioned dressler. Seems like a fair comparison and i was pissed about dressler when he signed with the riders cuz North Dakota should be our territory lol. So sign the kid if he’s interested and see what he can do.
  6. Yeah. Not sure I saw anything term related. All I know is 9 straight double digit winning seasons in a row is not as bad as some people think. Think people truly forget the struggle before Kyle and Osh got here. We were legit the laughing stock of the league and now we basically the premier destination and basically top organization all around. I think it’s kinda crazy you got people so willing to just move on based on just heresay and rumours. 9 straight winning seasons. Who the **** fires the gm and coach for winning?
  7. That's true of a whole lot of starting Canadian positions. I mean, if you found a Canadian who could play OT to the level of, say, Hardrick, you'd have to pay him.
  8. And to be clear, we haven't signed Stoops, he was just added to our neg list so we may never see him up here.
  9. Today
  10. Sounds like any business in that war zone should budget for security when closed. Cost of doing business. Back in the late 90's, I was unemployed. I took a job with Wackenhut Security guarding a mosque in NE Calgary by the airport overnight from 11-7. I had to patrol inside once an hour & observe outside in my car. Shitty job but they had vandalism & break ins. No trouble when I was there. It stopped. I left after 2 months as I got a day job.
  11. The Als defense is very good as are their Front 7. If they sack Harris & rattle him, it's game over. We've all seen his game crater under pressure.
  12. The Riders are dressing 1 American receiver in the Grey Cup game. You guys would be apoplectic if O'Shea did that. Let's be honest. Their receiving corps is Jakobi Meyers, Ajou Ajou, Kian Schaffer-Baker, Tommy Nield, Sam Emilus and Mitch Picton. They better hope Montreal can't get out of the gates because they aren't scoring more than 20 points on O.
  13. Yeah, a raise & a long term contract (3 years is a lifetime in pro sports). I'll take a kick in the ass like that, too. I wonder what Joe Poplawski in his prime would command today? Milt Stegall? Charles Roberts?
  14. We retool by not paying Logan, WJ, Bryant, Vaughters, etc. Pay our stars and replace the old guys through scouting.
  15. Terry Evanshen, Weston Dressler, Ryan Smith & Darren Flutie come to mind.
  16. Lotsa guys in college have way better "stats" doesn't translate all time to success Just looking at the metrics...smallish...slow...not really outstanding in any real aspect...so not a exciting signing...but if he blows doors off everyone in camp..gets a legit opp to bump off say a Stearns..Wheatfall...a subpar Canadian...hello Corcoran...initiating a shift in ratio...great....but we also have to factor in Osh as HC...So there is also the rub...until he changes his idealogy...who cares who we sign...I have zero faith in the best 24 will start until something happens to make me think otherwise We need a Coxie type...Alford...Hatcher...not another mid sized possession guy with average speed....or a real burner who can take a hitch or a short crosser anywhere on the field and to the house at any instance...especially with ZC The rub...what the scouts see..and the potential and eye for talent...and what Osh sees...2 different planes
  17. They aren’t, normally at most positions, Especially that amount over. Looking back at canadians setting the high price mark at positions, they normally only get 10-20k mark up. Out side of Ol, Rourke, ford, and Brady. All 3 of those guys are over pays, but rourke being a qb is a bit different. Ford won’t see remotely the same money again in his career. Even ol, where we see more canadians get more money, It’s normally a 20-30k max range. A positional break down: Db, it’s true right now. because ford is one of the worst over pays. But a canadian db hasn’t been the highest paid in the past 6-7 years atleast. Last one I can find was Sanchez when he came back from the nfl, ages ago. Lber, Judge is 35k ish under wynton and just under 10 below Beverette. Again the previous highest paid lbers going back years aren’t canadian. Dl, they are but they are only 15-25k above flo and ceresna. For several years this has been imp dominated for highest paid. Wr, nope lawler and it’s been imps as far back as I can find. Rb, it is again with brady’s heavy pay day. Brady again earns 2x all but one or two backs in the league. If you look at the league wide candidates for MOC, did any one other than brady/rourke even make 100k? Giving huge pay days to canadian ratio breakers doesn’t work out a lot. How did Robbie smith do? Or ford? If we lived in a perfect world and crafted the roster around over paying two great canadian's, that we know will perform, that’d be fine. Problem is, how do you retool with those contracts when those are two of the easier positions to replace for a fraction of the pay?
  18. I look at his highlights and go, this is exactly what I’d expect from a peaked in college, none-prospect type. but, it is worth while to bring under sized guys with out great speed in for a flyer if the scouts see some thing in their route running etc and skill set. Some times those plucky over achievers do it at the pro level. And some times guys like that are the type of dogs mentality guys you need in camp to elevate others. We just can’t bring in many, and we can’t needlessly fall in love with him, like they did with mcknight.
  19. Canadians are the highest paid players at almost every position in the league. That’s just how it goes. Almost all of them can be replaced effectively by a cheaper American, but then you’re stuck using weaker Canadians. Id rather pay guys like Demski and Oliveira and have to use cheaper Americans elsewhere. Guys like Logan ($114k) are the mistakes we need to avoid.
  20. The Riders #1 receiver (IMHO) Keesean Johnson is not playing in the Grey Cup - he only practiced once this week due to injury. Mike O'Shea, are you taking notes?
  21. 22. I hope it's NOT more of the same in 26'....This last season was a disaster in so many ways for the BIGBLUE...I'm sure Miller ,Walters, Osh and some of the coaching staff are going to have to have a 'big sit down' meeting and hash things out, because we can't have a repeat....Failing to make major changes will result in the Princess being turned into a pumpkin....meaning fans will not buy more of the same...We had a winning recipe for success awhile back....we have to find our way back...Starting it out would be getting rid of the 'deadwood' and certainly put together a better free agency plan than what was executed in 25'....Those are 2 starting points...A helluva lot of hard work is a key component ....I hope we're up for it
  23. Technically he's earned exactly half of what O'Shea has... in terms of GCs...
  24. That would be because there isn't a Canadian back anywhere near as good as Brady is. I am not advocating a raise, I just think Brady O's contract for this year was fine, especially for a non-import 2023: led the league in yards from scrimmage 2024: led the league in yards from scrimmage 2025: finished second in yards from scrimmage (missed 3 games) When you have a Canadian doing that, you will have to pay him - or some other team will The one thing that bothers me about Brady, is that they are not taking full advantage of the fact that he's a Canadian running back. A Canadian in a non-traditional position, with a decent backup, should be pure gold. But the Bombers choose not to cash in. There should be 3 Americans on the OL, or an American starting for Jake Thomas at DT. Heck, they could do both of those if they really wanted to
  25. Leading receiver on a 10-3 Oklahoma team. Nearly 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games played. Could do a lot worse in terms of pedigree.
