  3. We did have 3-4 candidates in camp, and we even signed Santos Knox to compete. Not sure where this fictional narrative of no competition comes from? Because TJ keeps winning the job? I get that Jones isn't at all adequate in pass coverage but he is great in the tackle box. JY runs his defensive scheme so that the MIKE really isn't in coverage except once in a blue moon therefore that criticism is kind or a red herring in our particular defensive style. I'm certainly not going to anoint TJ as a world beater on D, but he is not at all the poster boy for MOS loyalty. Look to the guy on his right on the depth chart and then Bearpants may have been onto something.
  4. i’m not surprised, cfl media has been chomping at the bit to write our obit and bury us. Especially to once again crown the riders as the league cornerstone. blech. I hope we get to disappoint them. it’s not a huge issue. we aren’t talking jake thomas or kola level issue. I do think it’ll be a part of the usual roster management issues. injuries look a bit better than i expected. Will see how close to 100% these guys are

  13. How so. You want a D that hall ran more than younger does. Younger ain’t running the traditional cfl D that you all want to run. He’s running some confusing hybrid D. He obviously values the versatility over dudes who just do 1 thing. If Osh is Oshin always then younger is youngerin. How am I the ****** when you can’t even accept that Garbutt fox and Bailey all sucked.
  14. Well, I fully expect Woodbey to be on the field the vast majority of the time, so I don't think it's a huge issue to have a mix of skills on the field.
  15. Today
  16. Ummmm yea.
  17. AMSOIL Power Rankings: Who leads the pack ahead of Week 1? - CFL.ca Hahahaha, Edmonton? Really?
  18. was it said what Vaval's injury is...he seems fine moving about...no brace/cast/...or bandaide lol we start 3 oline guys...BO...2 receivers and we only need 1 Canadian on defense any given snap which would be the way to go. And if you Nationalized WJ or Ceresna then you could get away from having any true Canadians on the filed for a snap technically We dont need to have mote than 1 listed on defence, if we have 6 on offense which we easily can without going 3 National receivers
  19. They don't need to list Smith as a starter to rotate that way though. Doesn't matter who is listed as starter as long as they designate 2 Cdns on D and keep any 2 of Smith/Kramdi/Lawson/Gatkuoth on at one time
  20. I am expecting Vaval to open the year on IR and Singer to be the primary returner week 1 but we'll have to wait to hear official word
  21. yup Same with what we may do at center...Does an import center which would take away from a import from defense as well as make us start 3 Canadian receivers when he isn't really any better than a Canadian center make us a better team than starting a Canadian center, allowing for 3 import receivers, and having that extra American on defense, like you say at DT and allowing us to replace Lawson on reps with a stud DT as Smith and Kramdi make the Canadian quota on defence. And really if we go 3 Canadian Oline, BO...2 receivers and have the Nationalized American on defence we could take out a Canadian on any play and freely bring in an American whenever we wanted....so which option makes us a better overall team? It's amazing how one dumb move could affect the totality of the roster and make you weaker
  22. Maybe because Jones keeps getting handed the job?
  23. Good, is the most dangerous enemy of great. The biggest issue with the Lbers, is that by starting Smith we would gain a massive amount of ratio flexibility, that would enable us to be much more effective in another position group. Like the difference between Lawson rotating with Korny, vs Lawson rotating with an imp dl.
  24. it's not necessarily a problem... I would just like to see more effort to improve any chance we get... I agree that not everyone can be elite, but there's positions where you need an elite player to really move the scales... the interior D-line can be good to very good... but you want an elite pass rusher... the outside LBs can be good or very good... but you want an elite MLB.... your receiving corps can be good to very good but you want an elite #1 target... I think I've made it clear that I like Tony Jones... but he plays a position that I'd prefer to uncover every stone to try and find the best I actually also think he would make a great DI... he can fill in at WIL or MLB, and is killer on short yardage... I'm pretty sure (without looking it up) he would qualify as a designated American too... if we actually wanted to take advantage of that...
  25. yeah thats my take too as the games are not choosable anymore
  26. Yup....context is key with his stats...He is good depth...but we can do better for sure if we being real with ourselves...we could cut either..or ...or even both....or DA one and start one of Woodbey/SMith/ayers in those spots and not see any drop off...prob see increase in impact plays...not tackles after yards were gained or in chase mode Prime Bighills come once in a while...But also run of Mill Jone's come often...and settling for that when you can do better....we have better...is just spinning wheels and delaying roster transition another yr. We do that a lot. People forget Jones came to us from the scrap heap cause Edm had the wherewithal to see a rookie was better and had oodles of upside....and he ended up as ROY....Not like he was a guy teams were all chasing. We ride giys right into a bloody knub and have zero behind them...or rarely allow a guy to get reps/experience and then we scuffle trying to find a replacement...its a cycle with this group that happens too much....Clinging worked in 2019 thru 2022....but that was an anomoly of having a real good group in prime...and top guys at their position in the league, and we don't have that now...for a while yet we seem to think we do and havn't deviated from that mindset unless forced to, either by player defection or career/season ending injury How long has it been since we addressed the dline issues once we had no more Nevis...Stove..Jeffcoat..Kongbo?...we were more than happy to run out inferior guys cause they were either A) here already B) a old in tooth vet or C) some coaches fatuation what did you see him do to win it tho? and did he even play?...MIKE has changed I agree and Jones skillset, and holes in his game doesnt suit the new MIKE Being givin the job doesnt always translate into earning/winning it yeah he is horrid...and doesnt fit the real requirements of the spot now. The 3 spots were set in stone before the first player even stepped on field in TC They finally got it right with Griffin at SAM but if we wanted our best, and group most likely to get really lethal as season went on we would run combo's of Woodbey/Smith/Ayers along with Griffin and situationaly use one of Wilson or Jones I still willing to be open minded and not pessimistic about roster yet, as we havnt seen anything to indicate whats what in practice yet, and there gonna be guys moving on and off...and onto the IR But the first depth chart is gonna be a good indicator again of what we are....same ol same ol handcuffing ourselves and quationable guys just standing around game in and game out with nobody getting any development reps....or we are gonna field our best all around athletes and versatile players and kick some butt...guess it is TBD i think the discussion is that we arent playing the best option...or giving thebest options the bulk of reps...I've said Jones could be a good depth/situational guy as a DA....As would Wilson...but both blocking the younger playmakers, is redundant and serves zero purpose....6game or 1 game one of em and allow them full pay and there is your insurance if a younger guy huts the wall...or gets hurt...simple roster logic really to get your best players playing and growing...
  27. JSK should have been brought in to compete for WIL... do you honestly believe any of the rookies in camp had an shot of wining the MLB job?
