Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Im a bit surprised biggie went out a bomber and not a lion. I love the guy and he had a couple big years here. But nothing like what he did in BC.

Yep, they love his intangibles. Outside of decent hands he doesn't have any pro wr traits. Gonna be soo gutted if we push him over clercius.

Bombers have signed linebacker Matthew Jackson. He spent some time on the practice roster at the end of the season.

Just the best dude in the community, too. We were at Stella's prior to one of the many West Finals and had our back to the place so didn't even see him, but he came up and tapped us on the shoulder because my wife was wearing his jersey and wanted to chat. Asked us if we wanted it signed and was happy to get a picture taken. I lost my wife to him that day...

Love this... his last year or two wasn't all that memorable... but the first 3/4 seasons he played here were absolutely epic... he was a huge part of the turnaround and ending the championship drought... Congrats Biggie!

Counterpoint.... I'm always going to cheer for the slow white guy just because.

Yeah security was also expecting a rough night this weekend (based on past events) so maybe they (security) learned their lesson and were staffed appropriately. Even with the 2 guys that got escorted out, it was peaceful - they just tried to argue with the cops for a minute about how they should stay. When that didn't work they got up and followed the cops out to the concourse on their own accord.

but Cobb is a better route runner....faster....can run jet....and return....Corcoran can..........lol....Osh needs to set aside his personal infatuations for the better good of the team....has had 1 to 2 of these kind of guys at minimum pretty much every yr....and he was putrid in the role of blocker last yr...MCI should have been doing that role and would have been an actual threat if he got he ball....and would have worked in his overall development as well. Hopefully we utilize him this yr and make him feel like part of the actual offense o I bet he bolts after this yr and becomes a nice player elsewhere on a team that utilizes his 6'2" 225+ pound frame and his 4.4/4.5 speed

I'll bet if they draft someone, Corcoran won't make the team. I don't think they love, we just had no depth maybe he's a slightly better blocker than Cobb

The club seems to love Corcoran for some reason.

It wasn't about work visas. The CFL's roster rules are illegal in the US. No business in the USA can have rules that reserve roster / staff spots for foreigners. -- a semi-related story -- When I was returning to Seattle from the 2024 Grey Cup, I told the USA border guard that I'd been up in Vancouver watching Canadian football. "That's the league with a Canadian quota?" he asked. I told him yes, he was right. "Doesn't work like that down in the States, only the best play," he said. What I wanted to say was "I hear that's how the Border Patrol works too," but I did not say that.

totally true....And Allen on defence further adds to that....They also lost a high contributing Global too which hurts....Be interesting on how they re-do that ratio there yeah his measurables were garbage for a receiver...well....bottom tier I guess....and he didnt seem too enthused to use any physicality in the blocking game either.... Speaking of Corcoran, he doesnt offer a lot really...even on teams and if we draft one of the intriguing upside receivers in the draft, and with Demski..Neild and Clercius, I just dont see a spot on roster for him....and If we dress him in addition to all 3..thats a poor decision. I cant see us going 3 national receivers either for ratio...ZC needs all the top end talent we can field and if 4 nationals, one of them being Corcoran is the best next 4 guys we scrounged up behind White..Demski..and Wilson then thats an epic recruitment fail...or a really poor coaching decision...again

The Fight Thread
The first UFC card had a very large amount of tickets purchased by chiefs who sent folks from the reserve. I saw numerous fights in the crowd starting in the earlier prelims. It was bad. What didn't help was the lack of security and the security being older ladies with flashlights trying to break up 4 - 10 people swinging wildly. The funnier part was that the fights were in the better seats and the cheap bastards (like me) in the nosebleeds were cordial.

There were some good fights and I thought the crowd was really good too. Only saw two people getting escorted out of the building and if there were any fights in the crowd, I didn't see them. A far cry from the first event here - UFC staff were saying that UFC 161 (in 2013) had the most crowd fights out of any event they've ever done so they kind of expect that now.

That or they reach in the draft and push a guy early. Now, this draft is not a strong WR draft at all. But even outside of the top 2-3, who are alright, you have a mix of guys who either have size/hands or have strong measurables. Taking from either group is about as good as ajou any way, imo. The gap between the 2-3 top tiers of wrs in this draft isn't huge. They all got question marks and need development. If we don't get Cenacle or Demontagnac, getting 2 mid tier guys would be pretty good. Like Djete (though some one will reach for him), Gavin owen who would offer a ton of early value as a teams guy too, Or sibley, or mcbean. I could also see us falling in love with Ojutalayo for his teams value as well.

It is, but I don't think the ALS takes any moral flaw seriously. I'd note that Chad did not shut up and do everything he was supposed to. He spoke out against his punishment twice, failed to meet the terms of his deal on time, and didn't he have an incident at a college or hs game he was attending while he was suspended? For real, he's a slightly bigger Corcoran with one of the biggest character red flags in football.

His departure really hurt the RIders. Not because he is a great receiver per se, but they run 3 NATs and were already perilously thin for quality depth there. Now they have nothing. This could necessitate a roster flip for them and their NAT depth is mediocre.
