2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
I don't think your stats all mean exactly what you say they do... think there is a lot of context missing.... Now I'm not saying Lawler is the best or any of that, just that I think your interpretation of statistics could use some refinement.

2026 Bombers Season
From what It sounds like to me, it was already determined that TE was gonna be the QB2 in discussions, and he was competing for the 3rd spot again...so...was it the situation that he "wasn't" handed QB2 duties and he felt disrespected?...Or was it since TE seems to have been handed the QB2 role that he didn't want to be the 3rd guy again and would rather try and latch on elsewhere...as opposed to just quiting...2 sides to every narrative and in the short lifespan of a pro player, I dont blame him for wanting out if he wasnt in the plans per say And if a knob and bot of prima donna like D.Davis could linger around as long as he did, I pretty sure if he wanted to, Wilson could do the same in a similar role...He also offers more than D.Davis ever could. And for all it's worth...Neither TE or Wilson if he stayed and was anointed QB2 was gonna see the field anyway with how we use our QB's...or not much use so it's really a big pfffft...I'd currently have Perkins as the defacto back-up, especially if he shows well friday, and also...he's a 6'2 220+ pound QB with running skills so he is gonna be a legit Short yardage guy too...gonna be interesting how we deploy the 2 backups

2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
"Best and most impactful" is literally an opinion, not a fact. He was not the most productive receiver in the league in 2025, either by volume or on a per-game basis. He is what he is at this point and I'm really of the belief that he's more of an electric highlight reel receiver than a winner, not to say he's not productive but he's not a player I'd be looking to add to my roster. He's a target vacuum who catches a relatively low percentage of the balls thrown his way. One stat I've become a fairly big fan of is yards per target and Lawler registered at 10.02 last year. Dohnte Meyers 12.13, Justin McInnis 10.82, Nic Demski 10.88, Keon Hatcher 11.64, Dejon Brissett 10.67 all more productive per target and all with a better balls caught % than Lawler too ... Lawler wasn't even the most reliable target on his team, he caught less of his targets (59.7%) than Kiondre Smith (73.5%) and Tim White (66.6%) and to me, that's a statistic that becomes even more impactful when you consider that he was 2nd in the league in targets with 144. The only receiver who really even comes close to being as unreliable as him with a comparable level of productivity is Eugene Lewis. Couple that with the fact that despite being targeted 144 times, Lawler didn't even rank in the top 25 in the CFL in YAC. He's a highlight reel receiver, but he's not a winning football player. His numbers all point to the fact that he's productive, but he's also a relatively unimpressive player once the ball is in his hands and he's a drive killer. It's not a smear opinion on Lawler, I think he's a hell of a receiver and he's got some of the best go up and get it ability I've seen in a long time, but I just don't think it's anywhere near a fact that he's the "best" receiver in the CFL.

The number doesn't shock me. He's made that his whole career, like you say. I think Walters, and I agree with him, got sick of paying that premium for a guy who was only available for half of every season and still left at every opportunity. I am always in favour of athletes with short careers taking the money where they can, but Lawler is a guy we stuck by when he got in trouble and didn't attempt to nickel and dime him over his injury history and he still bailed multiple times. Good riddance.

I was surprised we brought him back to camp this year as well. I did not expect him to make the team. And his snaps in camp probably told him the same.

I don't pick the teams but it seemed to me like Wilson was more the 'oh **** we should probably carry a second guy with pro 3-down experience on the roster' guy. Elgersma has the size teams seem to be looking at for a short yardage guy, and Perkins won the UFL MVP with his legs. I don't recall him really standing out in the role, other than that one big run he broke against the Riders in the playoffs.

Around the NHL 2025-26
Didn't not see Vegas sweeping Colorado but they did. Say what you will about Tortorella but he has them dialed in right now. What a crazy couple of months for them.

Around the NHL 2025-26
Colorado has 15 shots in an elimination game with 8 minutes left. 1 0 Vegas. They are really bad if MacKinnon isn’t 100 percent. Wow.

Terry screwed his career likely. He prob could have been that 3rd and inches guy but dude quit cuz he wasn’t handed the backup job. Thats not good. I mean if he did anything to earn it I’d understand but he sucked. When you have more confidence in starting a pretty much broken Streveler who didn’t even throw 10 passes one game over you? Yeah don’t think you got a future as a starter. Personally didn’t think they would bring him back this year. Was kinda surprised when they did bring him back

Based on Terry Wilson's tape... Would you sign him over someone you've had on your neg list for awhile and you have high hopes for? And then walked out in his team the day before a game?

2026 Bombers Season
Ya but you got a guy who will quit when he’s passed on the depth chart. Most QBs can do sneaks also. I don’t think you bring a guy in just cuz he can sneak a ball. That’s riders crazy. Terry couldn’t throw a ball 10 yards. In the cfl if you can’t throw you’re not gonna be a starter. I think you bring In QBs who have potential to start not guys who ceiling is sneaking the ball on 3rd and inches.

It would be great if Lawler were still on the team but I don't think he signs a million dollar contract this year if he had Collaros, Streveler, and Wilson throwing him the ball last year

ahhh include #31 Rick House into the tier 2 grouping. Him and Joe Pop were a great duo. I’d probably add Eugene Goodlow as well into the mix.

I wouldn't. QB depth is pretty thin around the league

Bombers drop Wilson from the suspended list, making him a FA. I'd be shocked if he gets picked up by another CFL.

It is a lot, but % of SMS it's about the equivalent of the 275k we paid him. The 333k number shocks us all but we all need to remember the massive SMS jumps last year and again this year. I dont think we, as fans, are used to the new SMS reality now.

2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
Except that's not true. Lawler left money on the table to come back to us. He and his 1500 yds receiving yards last year kind of make an actual fact counter to your opinion. Kenny is the best and most impactful receiver in the CFL. That is a fact. Everything you are saying is either speculation or opinion. Would I have paid him 333k last year..nope. This year, with the big SMS jump, yep. He is a guy that instantly makes any offence far more harder to defend.

It's so funny but I had the exact same comp in mind... AB3... Not in terms of their abilities, but in terms of "tiers" of receivers... That's exactly who is out Kenny with.

PS Game 1 day thread (finally Bomber football is upon us!)
I doubt it. I mean. I’m sure it will play a role but I don’t think dudes necessarily make teams based just on a pre season game or 2. I think coaches generally have a good idea going into game 2 who is and isn’t making it and I think the game either confirms their original thoughts or maybe makes them think a bit but in the end if dude sucks all week at practice but goes off game time well, that’s a decision isn’t it. Just seems from a fan perspective game 2 is more starters get the first half then its guys who will make the team playing with lots of guys who won’t and then finally in the 4th it’s those guys that prob stood out the most that you want another look at but by then your opponent is playing their cuts also. Logically tho the Canadian QB who has never played a pro game before except nfl pre season is likely gonna need some time to develop over a guy who was league mvp of the UFL recently but I mean until or if Zach gets hurt, who is QB 2 and 3 don’t matter cuz it’s Zach Taylor and BP regardless like those are the 3 QBs and until Zach gets hurt it don’t matter who 2 or 3 is The RB last year was the pre season star. Cut weeks later now working for the man.

Thing is when talking bomber receivers you need to bring up Milton cuz he is the true gold standard on and off the field. Kenny maybe more in the Arland Bruce III group tho. A tier below Milton. So who is in that group? Geroy? Not as a bomber. Robert Gordon? Possibly. I mean. I dunno. Schoen probably ranks higher than Kenny as Schoen was the man from game 2 or 3 on. Where would Kenny rank I wonder.
