It's 95 percent likely He's a Jet.  The other 5 would be I'd Toronto took him then oh no not Matthews. Jets can sit back and let Toronto take Matthews or Laine and then take whoever they don't

I remember that game.... "Crosby is better".... Even Alex Ovechkin laughed on the Caps bench. That just made it better. He took it like a good sport.

It's just shows how we got the best pick number this year. Toronto is in a position to second guess themselves, we are not. Unless of course, Chevy goes off course and picks the next Alexandre Daigle.

not sure how you could go wrong with any of the top 5 this year.  Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk, PLD.  Pretty strong draft year.

The only way I see them doing this is if they sign Stamkos...

except the draft is before he becomes a free agent...

Oh well. Then we get Matthews. A potential 1 2 Scheifs Matthews for 8 to 10 years would just be awful. If we were picking first 95 percent chance we take Matthews.  I'd almost even say 100 percent chance.

As good as Laine will be, the Jets would be far better off with Matthews.

Agreed. Matthews is a center. A legit franchise Center. Laine is a nice consolation prize but if the jets had the first pick and took a winger over a franchise Center I'd be pissed

That's just last night's meatloaf talking.  There is no way the Leafs pick anyone but Matthews. Shanahan would be tarred and feathered if he went with anyone else.

Even if they pick him, Matthews as a consolation prize isn't a bad thing. 

I personally would rather have Matthews on the Jets, but that's just me. Either way, you're getting a really good player.

Like Floyd said, at least we're not debating lower level guys. We get one of the elite.
