With the start of trade season thought I would start a thread to have all nhl trade talk in one spot. Chevy started on Tuesday pulling off a blockbuster. Today the Preds equipped themselves to take a deep run.

What's the deal with Horton? I vaguely remember the name from a few seasons ago..

Good player but his back is screwed up and his career is likely done because of it. Drafted by Florida a while back top 3 in the draft, spent time in Boston, I think he was part of their cup team and then went to Columbus where his injury issues really came to the forefront. 

 

Basically works out like this, because the contract isn't insured the Blue Jackets have to pay him, but they're a small market team that cares more about actual dollars than cap hit so they approached the leafs. Took that Clarkson albatross deal off their hands because at least Clarkson will play for them and the Leafs pay Horton to be injured but save the cap space.

cool.. Sucks for Horton as I remember he was highly thought of as a prospect.. Hopefully his back isn't so screwed his quality of life isn't too affected.. Works out well for leads as they get to dump a disgruntled, semi-expensive contract.. Not gonna change their fortunes much but hey, baby steps lol

Matt Calvert out indefinitely with a concussion.  Could be day to day, could be longer.  I know he was a possible trade target (at least before we got Tlusty) but probably not anymore.  Damn shame, was hoping we would snag him.  

That is a shame. I could see chevy wanting another bottom six guy but Halischuck is back imminently. We have a solid line up when everyone is healthy. Playoffs could be fun

I know he started his NHL career with the Preds but what does that have to do with this trade.

That's a lot to pay for an old defenceman who only just came back now from a blood clot issue.

Nothing. He had a good career going with the Preds and he continued that career with the Flyers. Reminded me of the Babych trade.

I wanna see a 4th line composed of Thorburn, Slater and Garbutt.

Basically for a 3rd round pick there as heatley won't see the big clubs roster. Guy has played in 24 games in the AHL this year, 2 goals, 5 assists. He's a cap dump really. 

There was a great Twitter rumour going around that had kessel being traded for Frolik, Comrie and one other

Jeff Petry apparently on the way outta Edmonton. Being held out of the line up tonight as a healthy scratch on MacTs orders. Apparently just finalizing the details, according to Twitter....

Apparent asking price for Petry is a 2md rounder which seems like not enough, but we'll see...

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Klas Dahlbeck and 1st round pick for Vermette. That is ARI-CHI trade, pending call.

That's a lot to pay for Vermette who will be a rental as Chicago will have no money to sign him next season.

Quite a steep price... I wonder if Monday will be dead quiet?

There will be moves on monday... guys like Petry,Atkinson, Maybe Calvert, Chris Stewart, Maybe some leaf players.... there will be trades but i'd suspect nothing really too earth shattering. 

 

Some guy still out there to be had but... probably not that much.  Then again, a team could surprise and you could see a guy like Yandle moved, speculation is a eastern contender is in on him (Tampa is my guess). There is talk that Zuccarello is available from the NYR, Bernier from the leafs, Other guys too.

 

Think Monday will be rather boring but... there will be deals done for sure. How many? I don't know, i'd have to say less than 10. 

Rene Bourqe on waivers. If he didn't have a bad contract I'd consider him for depth but could he outplay Thorburn at this point?

I'm really liking this deal. Especially as Rangers fans are not happy about it. Playoff performer. Upgrades out bottom six. Is a defensively sound guy.
