Around the CFL Offseason Discussion

Figured it would be nice to keep all the non-Bomber dealings of the offseason in one centralized thread ... I'm sure there are exceptions for the BIG stories having their own threads as they come up, but for all the daily tweets and information, we could keep it condensed to one thread.

One rumor I saw yesterday from Drew Edwards ... WR Greg Ellingson to Ottawa to reunite with Henry Burris - would be a good move for Ottawa

  • For a lot of reasons, I don’t usually publically post or discuss site discipline.   Wide Right has now been banned.  This morning he used an IP address that was common to one that only Migs has used

  • Yeah... why are they signing a QB when they already have one?

  • They should get a new trainer in Montreal;)

Hammy down two legit non imp options.. That sucks. Then again, they jumped in the boat in our end zone so screw those hosers!

Lion's cut OL Jermarcus Hardrick. 6.07 320.

Any intel on this guy? Is he better than any of our import OL prospects right now?

EDIT:  Based on the Lion's depth chart from last year...

... He started as LT for 2 games starting Sept 13 (when Andre Ramsey is out)

... Then when Ramsey was back, he was moved to LG and he played there for the rest of the season.

Could he be better than Tyler ?

Reading on Twitter it sounds like this is a decision BC might regret.

Considering Hardrick played almost half of the season, he might be ahead of the learning curve compared to Sanders, Mims and Lewis.

Plus he has no history of major injuries.

I wouldn't bother because he's better suited to guard and we don't need a guard.

That would be my guess as to why I cut him - the concern I'd have if I was BC is that they don't really have a Canadian to fit in there right now.

I still think the bigger mistake they made was cutting Lavasier Tuinei and I really have a gut feeling the Bombers are going to sign him. Maybe it's just wishful thinking because I've been wanting us to sign an Oregon Duck forever but I can really see Tuinei being the type of receiver we'd want.

Man, if I only have the same kind of knowledge, I probably be working as a scout now and currently touring North America and attend every training camp that I can.

Any intel, that the Bombers are actually talking to him/his agent?

@SolomonE56: Big Announcement coming today at 6pm!

The Eskimos re-signed Justin Goltz today.

The "Green and Goltz" but yet they wear yellow

The Eskimos re-signed Justin Goltz today.

This gives us a good insight as to how thin and desperate the Esks are at the QB position. Good for us.

He's probably the CFLs best 3rd down and goal line QB.

Good for Goltz who was (is?) a good guy and loyal ball player. Awesome for Pinball Clemons who is one of the best things to ever happen to the CFL...

This wasn't the pinball thing was it?

Nope. This is it. Totally unrelated to football just like most "big announcements" by players who are under contract seem to be.

No real BIG surprise but the Ticats cut Cary Koch.

Don't know if this has been posted previously but the Als site now lists Calvillo as the Receivers Coach.  Turk Schonert is listed as O.C. and QB coach.

Should the Bombers pick him up ?

Only if he's pulled a "Pinball" and exchanged passports.

Argos hopeful Ray could be throwing by training camp

TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts are still hopeful that quarterback Ricky Ray will be healthy enough to start throwing once training camp opens next month.  General Manager Jim Barker provided an update on Ray's off-season rehabilitation which followed shoulder surgery last November.

The club confirmed that Ray was examined by team medical staff earlier this week.

“Ricky has worked hard this off-season and our medical staff has informed us that they are very happy with his progress to date," Barker said in a statement. "We were aware his rehabilitation would be a long process and going into the surgery we committed to the process.

We will not rush him back early. Ricky will be provided the time he requires to allow his shoulder to fully heal. Over the next few weeks, he will intensify his rehabilitative therapy and will continue to increase his strength and range of motion in his shoulder so that he is ready to begin throwing when 2015 training camp opens.”

Ray underwent successful surgery on November 24 to repair the torn labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder as well as a small tear in his right rotator cuff. He immediately began rehabilitative therapy. Normal rehabilitation time for this procedure is approximately six months.
