Free Agency - 2014...

Not counting Sundays, there are 17 days left to sign our own FAs.

Do the Bombers have a say in all the FAs we have to sign or do circumstances exist where we have no chance?

For me, at least to get to TC:

Desirable signings - Some for obvious reasons, some for NI content, some for experience:

Henoc Muamba, Chris Matthews, Jade Etienne, Brandon Stewart, Will FordJovon JohnsonAkeem Foster, Kenny Mainor, Justin Sorensen, Marc Parenteau.

Signings if it makes sense - Again, ratio-wise and depth, new signings:

JT Gilmore, Ryan Lucas, Chris CvetkovicChris KowalczukDan West.

Not a Priority - Injuries….

Chad Simpson, Andre Douglas.

For comparison: (not including retired, suspended or released)

BC - …………..0 - 5 signings

Edmonton…….4 - 11

Calgary……….10 - 17

Sask…………..3 - 17

WBB…………..6 - 18

Hamilton………1 -6

Toronto……….1 - 10

Montreal………8 -17

The Bombers have 79 60 players listed on their roster page including all eligible FAs.
There are 34 imports and 32 26 NIs.
However, I can't imagine injured players like Sims-Walker will be back nor Bo Smith, nor Boltus (but that's just my wish)

any updates re Ted Laurent ?

His agent said they won't be making a decision until after the NFL Draft. I think he goes back to Edmonton, but I believe BC and Montreal are also in the mix.

and the Bombers?

I find it very unlikely Ted Laurent would sign here. I am interested in the situations of Alex Hall & Keron Williams though.

I read it somewehere that Alex Hall is not interested in us because he don't like our defensive coaching staff.

I like Keron Williams, he wont likely come in cheap though and we might have good DEs in our roster right now.

I thought it was Burke & Creehan that Hall was less than impressed with?

any updates on the Bombers unsigned draftees - Robertson and Alli. Are they going to be in the TC?

Why do you find it unlikely that Laurent would sign with us?  We need an NI starter on defense to replace Muamba and we should have extra money to be able to offer him a better salary than BC or Montreal, although they would give him a better chance to be a winner.  Edmonton isn't much better than we are so they would have to compete on price with us.  At the very least, we should be able to push Laurents salary up.

Robertson will be at training camp, Alli I am not sure on his status.

I assume Hall will go to whoever pays him the most.

He didn't seem to hate the city or fans.

I for one, don't want Hall back...too many stupid/selfish penalties.

probably got too many sacks and tackles as well eh?

Those don't outweigh the penalties. I've never been an Alex Hall fan.

Really?? Are you mistaking him for O'Dell Willis? Hall was a playmaker and definitely would be a great addition.

Hall had 12 penalties with the Bombers last season, including two games where he was offside three times. Interestingly enough, he had zero penalties in seven games after the trade - though his playing time wasn't what it was in Winnipeg.

I'll take off side penalties over a guy who loses his cool and gets us a major on a 2nd and long.

yes they do and if you don't recognize how good Hall was then I'm sorry

Any speculation on free agent LB Robert McCune?

IMO, Alex Hall was a top 2 rush end talent last season.

Yeah I didn't like the penalties either, but Countless sacks that could have turned the game around > the few penalties that maintained the opposition's momentum.

With a fair argument that he was #1. Hughes had the most sacks, but Hall had the most sacks + tackles for loss at 22. TFL often an overlooked stat, but just as important.

Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt says Alex Hall was in for a visit on Wednesday:

@jwyattsports: Back to free agents: DE Alex Hall, who played in 30 games for Browns in 2008-09, visited the #Titans on Wednesday. Most recently in CFL

I'd welcome Hall back but I won't lose any sleep if he isn't here... preferably in the NFL, not on another team terrorizing our young o-line/QBs

Hall has signed with the Carolina Panthers.

@RavensInsider: Panthers announce they've signed defensive end Alex Hall

But but but.. Hes no good, all those penalties! ;)

Good on alex, hope be sticks again for awhile... He is a talented DE.

Good for him. His penalties were frustrating, but his otherwise general awesomeness made up for it.

Yeah, I didn't go through the trouble of looking at everything.... I just took the safe route and said top 2....

I remember one play where Lulay got outside of him and he actually chased Lulay down from behind for either not much gain or for a TFL. That was when I realized he wasn't coming back in 2014
