Per Lawless, McManus has officially been hired by the Bombers to work in player personnel.

Great hire.

 

The proof? There were a number of players off the Edm neg and were on the Edm training camp roster that got cut or hurt and released when Tillman was there. Ribley's Believe it or Not....It doesn't matter to me.

And how do you know who was on the Esks' neg list and which players were at Esk's TC?

 

He's just talking out of his ass as usual. Let him make a fool out of himself if he so chooses.

Anyway McManus can still play QB?

Does this lift the curse of Danny Mac now?

Gotta give the man a chance. I like the hire & hopefully he does great.

Danny McManus is the #Bombers Assistant GM and Director of U.S. Scouting.

I am just glad that we are finally addressing our lack of presence in scouting the US market.  If Danny Mac is our chosen guy to do this, and wants to put in the time, then I am all for it.

By the title I am assuming he will have a few US scouts under him which I don't think the team has had in a while.

Typical Bomber move. Walters and Miller hire a friend. Just more same ol', same ol'. <- sarcasm

I see no reason to suggest that we should be terminating Ken Moll.  He was here when Walters was AGM, so why would it change now?

i'm beginning to like our scouting department now....

This was obvious during Walters' press conference.

When asked about Moll, Walters answer was "Ken Moll is current under contract with the Bombers" or something along those lines.

 

As for the McManus hiring, I suppose it spells one potential issue with Walters, that he doesn't have the U.S contacts and McManus will surely help with that.

Now we need some scouts and a coaching staff.

I like they fact that they're upping the number of people involved with personnel. Spend money on a big enough staff and don't expect two guys to pull rabbits out of their hats all the time. Been a big problem for a lot of years with this team. 

Just in case anyone is wondering about what talent McManus supplied to Hamilton ... he's the one who found CJ Gable and Greg Ellingson. He's also reportedly got credibility with guys who are big name school guys (like Gable with USC, as an example) who aren't sure about the CFL. A Hall of Famer who became a star up here after going to a big NCAA program is credible with these guys, maybe being able to convince them to come here when they otherwise would think they are beneath it.

Which I really don't think can be over looked at all. Reputation means a hell of a lot in a many circumstances. So if Danny Mac has that good rep then it's good he can lend it to the Bombers. 

Agreed. Living in the States, I can tell you that the average American male athlete has NO CLUE about Canada outside of TO and Vancouver, and if you're on the eastern seaboard, Montreal.

 

Need guys with some credibility to tell them WPG isn't just fat white people in monster trucks.
