I'd cheer for a cloned Hitler if he could win us a Grey Cup.

  • but it's a very good reason actually. GMs don't want to deal with players getting their panties in a twist if they weren't protected and I'd rather have the fans left in the dark than to start creatin

  • McManus is being looked at as Assistant GM, that's a ways down the totem pole to decide on the starting Quarterback. Besides, who would seriously prefer Brian Brohm or Masoli or any of the Ticat Quart

I still could see Collaros end up in Ottawa, seems to me whomever gives him the best deal is where he's going to go. I really don't see Collaros, his agent and Walters in cahoots with each other to ensure that Winnipeg doesn't have to trade for him. I also think that Ottawa wants the best QB available, and a veteran QB doesn't absolutely need to be the starter, a quality veteran back-up is probably a must though.

As for Hamilton, I'm sure Burris is probably done there, but that depends mightily on how Austin feels about the back-ups. There have been some rumblings in the Hamilton media that Austin is extremely high on Brohm and "hiding" him on the IR.

Well the best proven qbs on the market would be Burris - Glenn - Tate in that order... now I'm not saying who has the most long term upside or anything but if a team wants a proven guy right now those would be the top 3 available IMO.

Now if they want to grow and are willing to go through growing pains then   I think it's Collaros - Willy - Nieswander/Marsh  in that order....

Lots of options and if the blue are smart they wont wait and see how things shake out.

glenn isnt "on the market" per say.. he is under contract and i dont think we are to trade to get a qb, especially one thats been here before..

Burris will be the easy, quick fix giving us more time to find a backup and Collaros would be the "please be like reilly" scenario IE a qb that is good enough to win with if given the right guys to develop with..

ideal scenario? Burris with Collaros and Hall/Willy/Etc..

maybe tate shakes into the equation but id hope not myself..

I'd be shocked if Hamilton re-signs Burris, and outside of Ottawa I believe his chances of being a starter next season are minuscule.

He's had a great run but maybe it's time to retire.

Collaros won't end up in Ottawa because Marcel Desjardins has gone on record more than once that they will do everything to avoid drafting free agents, especially at QB.

What if Ottawa doesn't draft Collaris but simply waits and signs him as a FA?

They can't take that risk. Glenn is a safe "for sure" thing so they will take Glenn. Once Glenn is there Collaros won't want to sign there because he wants to start.

Ottawa has failed so many times you can be damned sure that they want an experienced veteran qb just so they at least have something to point to the fans and say "See we're better this time!"

Burris retire?  Come on.  *If* we didnt land a good young QB, I'd be happy to have Burris for a couple of years

I still have Burris as the second name on my QB wishlist

ugh just say no to Burris. That would make it very, very hard to cheer for this team. Plus a guy who always chokes in the cold? Doesn't seem like the kind of player to have in Winnipeg.

In fairness, you're looking for an excuse to become a Stamps fan, because your brother is...

Burris isn't done, he is the perfect filler qb and a safe bet for Ottawa.

I would hardly call him a fan at all. casual observer at best.

Can't help but notice you didn't deny my claim...

Can someone please clarify when teams are once again allowed to make trades, when teams need to declare rosters, and date of the draft? Thanks

Correcting you would be a full time job, I don't have time to stop for every little thing.

I believe trades can occur now until December 12 (one week before the expansion draft starts).

Trades and transactions can happen anytime between now and December 9th. The 8 teams have to submit their protected lists on this date and the freeze is on between December 9th and the day of the draft, December 16th.

If he's not in the league at the start of TC, I bet he's back by midseason as an emergency replacement somewhere.

I'd be shocked if HB isn't a starter for at least the beginning of next year and for Ham.

He may have his faults but I can't see Hamilton gambling on Masoli, LeFevour and Brohm.

If the Bombers don't land Collaros, I'm 99% sure that Burris will be the Bombers starter next season.

if Burris becomes a free agent, it will be stupid for the Bombers not to sign him, even if we have Collaros.

Winnipeg and Edmonton are likely destinations for Burris.  If the Bombers don't acquire Collaros, Winnipeg would be the most likely of the 2
