I'm guessing Shay isn't showing much in practice and maybe the game film showcasing the teams effort is bad...?

Other options include: Jones and Wilson are healthy...

Highly likely this is the main reason.

Smith started to make plays all the time on teams before he got his few and far between chances on defense.

that kind of explains Kelly. He's a day late and a dollar short on D, but the guy is solid at chasing kicks.

This is one of my issues with the Mafia. You pick a highly rated guy like Shay and don't play him but a 5th round pick with brutal testing numbers gets to start at WR , a JAG WR is penciled in as a starter and a guy who has stuggled covering repeatedly keeps getting trotted out. No logic or consistency at all.

And why are we drafting linebackers if we are hell bent on playing Canadian receivers and American linebackers? Complete disconnect between the draft strategy and roster construction

you’d never know it from their level of play or production though lol.

Smith is as good at kick cover, and a more sure tackler. Smith has excellent football iq and ability to read and react. It’s a rare, elite set of tools even for an imp. Ayers has some of that, but hasn’t been able to translate it on D.

sadly the draft room and post draft talk from walters was clear. they drafted for special teams plays, they wanted to give the teams unit thoroughbreds. I believe they view both as guys doing what they wanted in the first place. Smith only got an extended look due to injuries.

How stupid is it to draft for special teams?

As your main strategy..extremely dumb...any athlete can play teams...not just any ol athlete can contribute as a legit member on offence or defence tho at a pro level

Why should draft position mean anything? That just gets guys into camp.

By this logic, Shay should have got the reps that Smith earned.

They obviously have some role in mind for Shay if the right injuries happen on D because he's not even on all special teams on a week to week basis and when he is tends to take low effort penalties.

Why spend significant draft capital on a player and not give him a shot?

.........JUST ADD THE SNICKER...SNICKER and you have the complete picture of the draft attitude.....That picture just grates the hell out of me as you know there's lots behind that snicker................

He's not the GM last time I checked.

Recently the L.A Rams drafted a qb in the 1st round. It's obvious the coach and gm did not agree on that pick.

We need a name for this similar to the old Oilers "Tambo Troll Face"....

Smuggsie or Smuggles works just fine....as it describes him to a tee...Buffoon also works

Well we hold our destiny in our own hands. Sadly those hands are full of arthritis and prone to stiff person's desease.

My wife hates when I get that.

win we in...just a matter of if we 3rd or crossing over...Realistically I think playing thru the West is our best option and easier path. I think BC and Edm even tho we on the road are the easier opponent for us. Our been there done that with a lot of our roster may carry us thru if we go on a lil heater...and our less than stellar coaching be less a handicap...Tho maybe they also pull some magic out their butt's as Osh seems to have realized what his best roster is...

Out east we gonna get abused and embarrassed against MTL.... and that's a big IF we can get by T.O...

It's just so good right? It's the O'Smirk

O'Smirk... Brilliams. Locked in.

I could see today's game coming down to placekicking. Blanchard 92% good so far this season. Sergio 86% so far.

He never should have played past his 233rd game. Knowing Osh, he'll be back next season.
