Post (Game) Mortem - 1 foot in the grave addition

Firstly.....I told ya so

I said in off-season that not moving away from Osh would be a mistake...as generally a leopard doesnt change his spots. The FA period gave a bit of a pause, and some positivity so was willing to see if he is actually smartened up and gonna change his ways.

But.....from day one of camp, what I saw...What I heard...the sound bites of who was slated where....etc...etc...I knew right away we'd be in store for a failure as that cemented it...I Sounded the alarm right outta the shoot...to the "yeah buts"....and..........

I told ya so

2022 15-3 First place 538 for 370 against...lose Grey Cup by playing 5 guys who should never been on roster due to injury

2023 14-4 First place 594 for 377 against..Lose Grey Cup by essentially self sabotage and roster/injury issues

2024 11-7 first place 447 for 366 against...Lose Grey cup again by self sabotage/Stupidity

2025 10-8 fourth place 459 for 424 against...Bounced out in semis...varying reasons why but we didn't even really deserve to be there

2026 7-8 at current (9 wins will be a miracle but likely we sub 500...383 for 419 against...most likely cellar dwelling

See a trend...pattern...Need I say more...what constituted a 3 yr extension for that? Good will and mulligan for the 2019/2021 Wins..which were ions ago in football yrs was used up with the stupidity of 2023 and 2024...2025 essentially confirmed it

Secondly props to Vaval...sure it may have seemed he was abused but he was basically in perfect position on pretty much every play, and or came up and limited the gain immediately. He was the unlucky recipient of some truly perfect execution, and some incredible effort from Philpot and Alexander...God thing he was out there or we would have been royally embarrassed.

Coaching....out classed...schooled...no answers....no adjustments...continuation of the insanity doing things that all yr have been shown to not work

Kelly all day...why is he out there....Not needed ratio wise....just get owned left right and center....I sure Texada would offer more as the extra guy...Or whomever else was an extra before him...Just lunacy...

Why so much Schmeck?...Hardly saw Ceresna much and Schmeck out snapped him so my question was Ceresna even 100 percent and good to go?...and if we knew he wasnt and why he was limited in reps...then WTF was he even dressed????...again just piss poor rostering by Smuggles (Its funny tho as the last few games the smug has seemed to disappear and now looks more like duhhhhhh)

Which brings me to Smith...if he was close to healthy why not dressed??..Ceresna was...With Griffin back (thank god) was Smuggles too much of a pussssy to sit one of Jones or Wilson and elevate Smith over them?...That made zero sense Stuart for Smith.

It was very apparent we missed Smith out there...Jones was exposed all night and although Wilson wasnt really...he just not a playmaker anymore. Christ who is a playmaker on this defence? I bet Vaval could be if we let him grow into the position...You can see it already...Same with Smith....Griffin also has shown he makes a difference.

Speaking of pussssies Hi Kelly...Holm...I'd even say Nicolls now too...We are a small waify group...nobody fears, and at times they just look like amateurs out there. You can lump Kramdi in there too really...for every game he has like that first one back from injury he has 3..4...5 where he does nothing...misses tackles because all he does is dive at feet and is generally in space kinda doing nothing...He is a role guy and situational specialist...sorta...But thats about it

We need to move on from Holm..Nichols and Kramdi next yr and the what...500k they eat up??...Thats crazy for a position in the CFL that should basically be your cheapest and those funds could be sorely used elswhere

Cant forget the Elsbury issue either...like wtf more do they need to see to realize he just isn't it?...Big guy...apparently massive legs...but put him in the pussssy coral with the previous mentioned....Time for Eli's aggression and mean streak...Cant be worse and I guarantee it will be better

Which also leads into the issue of player use...It was basically a foregone conclusion that by the last half of the 3rd quarter we weren't gonna pull that out...no way...no how

What coach wouldn't put in his backup QB who has all the tools and ability but hasnt got a real snap in Ernest (Perkins) and see what he has?

Or yank the Center who all year has been weak and see what the guy who is supposed to be the backup can do?

Maybe sit down Jones who was inconsequential out there and give Shay a sniff? See if he has ability...By all accounts most experts pre-draft aid he was most pro ready, but had the unfortunate circumstance to be drafted here and sit in the Bomber grave yard of no chance..no opportunity

I'll tell you...Our coach...that's who....And he's done it his whole time here and it's really caught up to him and now is saddled with old guys on downside...Guys who never really had it anyway but he thinks do, and a litany of scrubs on his roster who serve no real usefulness and a handful of guys who need to somehow get some blackmail on him to get a legit chance.

We aren't no playoff team let alone a legit contender...and we won't be moving forward staying the course we currently on coaching wise, and sad as it is to say hopefully we don't squeak into the playoffs again as it will only justify or give reason to keep things in place.

I not sure in what world a 5 yr slide and a lot of the problems are continuations of previous yrs blunders and stupidity where something isn't done to reverse things...Please anyone enlighten me on that. But we keep it all in place once this sad sack season finally has a fork in it, but don't expect 2027 to be some big revival, and in all honesty why would anyone think that?...Smugs got lucky and caught lightening in a bottle now 5 yrs ago...Thanks for the memories...Now go away

Again..........I told ya so

People gonna **** on the D, and they didn't make plays to get themselves off the field.... But Montreal has a stupid O so part of dealing with that is actually staying on the field yourself... I doubt they even made it to double digit first downs and that's in game with plenty of garbage time. Can't blame the qb he did everything he could but Jesus Christ what an absolute abortion that was. Best player on offense in that game IMO was Chris-Ike.... At least he looked like he had a bit of give a damn.

Daniels in to block and just does nothing and of course the qb is pressured and the play blows up. Never had a guy gotten so many chances and done so little with them.

Great synopsis Booch....I have a very bad feeling that nothing will change enough with this club while the current gang is in place....We can only hope major changes will be made for 27' but it sure looks 'murky' right now

total agreement except for one thing- the team WAS royally embarrassed and abused last night, and if they, the coaches and GM were not seeing that, we could put dancing Gabe as head coach with no worse results. Earlier this season, I waffled about Walters remaining as GM, but now there is no doubt that he has to go as well. Nothing will be done this season and maybe even next and the players have to know how sad a mess this is and that the people in charge of the team are whistling past the graveyard.

As a token gesture, I would send Daniels home right now with an invitation to return for training camp next year if he is prepared to play football at a professional level. Elsbury needs to be sent home with no invitation to return. He is a waste of a jersey.

Oh I agree...we looked like a legit cellar dweller...I was just trying to be a bit nice in my assessment

We are a horrible team and I feel bad for a lot of the players as I dont think we as bad as the sum of the parts for most part..we are severely hampered by horrible coaching and way we go about things.

Almost victims of an arrogant cockey HC and I guess by extension now GM as he has just sat on his hands and did..or said nothing. Its okay to come out in the press and say he not happy and we need to make some changes or there may be a shift in direction for 2027...if it hurts some feelings or ohfuckin well..be better then

We have nothing to be cockey or arrogant about...nothing..and this narrative all yr we happy where we are..and right where we wanna be...just a few more "fixes" and clean up some details and communication issues...garbage...thsts just yip yapping of a HC who has no clue and lost the plot..I sincerely believe he never really had one and got lucky with a stacked roster where he couldn't mess it up...even tho he tried but we were able to overcome his stupid decisions...not anymore and he has no answers how to climb out...cause he never really provided any to begin with..he rode the benefits of a self policing roster

if blm didn’t get hurt, we would handily be the 2nd worst team in the league right now.

Not sure we aren't.

I got to say. 2021 was the absolute peak of the era. I don’t care we technically had a better record in 2022 our defense was historic. It was a team that was built to punish you. I would argue the first cracks definitely came in 2023. 2024 we were resilient and won a lot of close games we shouldn’t after a terrible start. But by then I’d argue we were just another good team by then we weren’t great. It was so obvious there was major problems on the horizon but the g guys who are in charge of building the best team possible was completely blinded by 2019 and 2021. I get it there’s a lot of shared memories of sucess but the most frustrating thing to me is how obvious it was and how we had the nucleus to re structure and continue being a champion level team but Kyle and O’Shea refused to let “his guys “ before it was too late.

I want to know when we went from expecting to win to being happy with having "a chance" to win....if all goes right. Right now it seems our attitude is to happy just to be in the game. Not cool.

I blame the coaches more than the players. Can hardly stand to listen to Condell's media interviews. He says lots of words, but his replies don't make sense.

we may well be, it’s close. but it blm was healthy, it wouldn’t even be close.

Frankly, for an old team with lots of championship pedigree, the in ability to; step up at home, against the west, against the best, when it counts the most, against down teams, and after a team punches us in the mouth, is the kiss of death.

You can’t be old, experienced, and unable to excel in some area as a team.

It’s time to tear down and build new. the good thing about that is you don’t need multiple years to accomplish that. But you do need to start now, and it begins with firings. Idc who at this point. Idc who fills the spots either.

Atleast one upper brass, one co, and one ast coach needs to go. a couple under performing players need the door too. Maybe trade some one like white, but a shake up at all levels is required now.

Long ago tbh. Third GC game they talked about that. I’d say right after the 21 gc.

Make no mistake, all these problems existed before both gc wins. It has been shouted from the roof too by booch, my self and others. We are right back to where we sat before the gc wins but too old to grow.

D cor inconsistent performances, poor tackling and execution, too soft zone and a scheme that breaks too frequently. Dl that can’t consistently disrupt or stop the run. Married to vet imps who don’t get it done, and playing way too many mediocre canadians. Kelly is just the most recent in the hurl lineage. Review the fire hall thread and see all the same things people say about jy now.

The O is only consistently able to go 2 and out. Can’t protect the qb, wrs can’t win 1on1s, great rb floundering with a bad system and ol.

Over investment and reliance on teams to win us games.

Bad roster management, poor systems, installs, adjustments, execution and fundamentals.

The difference is that this team doesn’t have any discipline any more.

That 21 team has hits feet up and chilling before the start of the 4th in most games. They could’ve hung crazy numbers if they wanted.

Once stove came back, that 21 team had no holes in it.

What kind of odds does Polymarket have on us making a change because I call it at like 20%.

isn’t one that I see. I’d say 15-20% today, but that it doubles if we lose to calgary next.

that’s for a mafia level personnel change, i’d say it’s double for a co. Between now and the week after the gc, I think we will see some kind of news.

I also think it’s as likely that one of the mafia fall on their sword for the other two, rather than just a firing.

Darrin Bauming on his podcast with Schnitzer on their post game podcast said that Osh will be going nowhere. Even if we miss the playoffs & finish last the next 2 seasons upcoming. When his contract expires in 2028 that Miller & Walters will do what they can to re-sign him. Complete Looney Tunes by Miller & Walters.

Edited by SpeedFlex27

If that's correct, Miller is an idiot.

I disagree that this was being preached by anyone before the GC wins. Especially after 2019, you guys were preaching how the O'Shea culture was helping recruitment, retention and hometown discounts.

The culture was good and it wasn't a manic crazed Dinwiddie like regime. I have no issues with the coaches not airing dirty laundry and keeping things professional. The issue is them not making the necessary changes either out of stubborness or out of loyalty.

There was a time not long ago I arrogantly thought the Canadian maphia had real staying power. It's shocking watching our organization become so horrible. We are undisciplined, lack in fundamentals, and are unskilled. It's quite the trifecta.

MOS and KW have been here since 2014, this is season 12, that is staying power.

Wasn't his culture..he didn't invent it..it was a tried and true culture of any great team..and it was self policed for most part by elite vets in prime...not much real coaching went on...when that evaporated...and before it showed

The years that book ended the GC wins was littered with dumb rostering...ineptitude...lack of prep..stupid in game decisions..playing of injured guys...poor coords...inability to change on the fly in a game..or in season

Once the talent either aged out or left...we didbt have the chops coaching wise to over come it

you can look back and check with references to hurl, kuale, jake thomas and more. It has been a staple for years, and has never been fixed.

21 was the year sheed couldn’t catch a cold, we started out with legs missing every kick possible, the grouping of jake and too many snaps from gauthier and briggs had us getting gashed by the run until stove got healthy.

22 was the brady vs augustine constant controversy, tyquan glass cartwright and a couple other bad dbs.

Yes mos instilled a great culture and high level of character in this team. It’s rose colored glasses to say that’s all that was talked about.

MOS and KW have been here since 2014, this is season 12, that is staying power.

i’m both pro sports, football and the cfl. but eventually all good things must come to an end. I think the only way one is still here in 3 years is if the other is made the goat, and before the beginning of the next year.

As a token gesture, I would send Daniels home right now with an invitation to return for training camp next year if he is prepared to play football at a professional level. Elsbury needs to be sent home with no invitation to return. He is a waste of a jersey.

Agreed! And let's throw some blame on our GM who was seen in a video practically pounding the table to draft this guy in the first round! This guy isn't even close to being a CFL level player. If we can't trust our GM and his scouts to find and evaluate talent through the draft and US scouting, we're completely hooped.

After this last game I'm really happy Brady signed a multi year deal. Because there's no chance he'd sign again if he were a FA after this season. The way Condell completely ignores him and just refuses to use him in the passing game...leaves me speechless. I just don't understand it. And by this point, there's no excuse I'm willing to accept. Condell can go coach a high school team.
