With the bombers victory last night and the fact that I enjoy his posts, I’m officially ending the grudge against Mike I mean Booch. I think it’s the same dude cuz Mike responds to posts about Booch so prob forgot to log out ;) oops right.

Anyways tho.

We don’t win that game last year. And that’s a great sign of good things to come. D struggled early, o bailed them out, kept it close. D stepped up 2nd half, O did also. All 3 phases contributed and you love to see it.

But hate to see Woodbey hurt like that. Any updates? And did Tony jones play? Cuz holy owned.

hahah...i carry no grudge with anyone who is a Bomber fan....But also stand by my opinions and experience...etc...and will retort to anyone...I'd cross check my mom to get the puck if I was a hockey player to get the win hahaha....So hopefully no one is thinks anything is personal...I'm wired from the late 90's and early 2000'S era where we did what needed to be done and called and held no punches verbally regardless of who got their panties in a twist...back when men were men I guess and snowflakes only showed up dec thru March

We aint the same dude tho lol....but we do think similarly

Took a few hours for the hangover to go away from yesterday, but after re-watching the game, I feel there's lots to feel good about, especially considering the standard quirks that typically come with a week 1 game.

Some random thoughts in no particular order...

Half time adjustments. It was clear as day that adjustments were made on both sides of the ball. Half time adjustments, specifically, lack thereof has killed us in years past. Pass protection was significantly better in the 2nd half. Run defence was significantly better too.

Tommy Condell vs Jason Hogan. For those that haven't heard, I'd encourage you to listen to Zach on the post-game show. He was beaming when asked about the offence after the game. Also, Strevvy was live-tweeting during the game yesterday and made a comment about how our receivers were wide open in the intermediate game. That was sorely missing last year, as was just a solid flowing offensive game plan.

The wind - as mentioned by Noeller (also Zach on the post game), this was not a consistent wind throughout the game. I know people on this forum think Osh is an idiot (you're telling on yourself for thinking this, just for the record) but the wind was unpredictable and the team still found a way. The times Osh has in the past decided to kick twice in favour for a fourth quarter wind has usually worked well in our favour. While we didn't have the wind in the fourth, we still found a way. No one bats 1.000

Tommy Nield - Despite the one drop, looked very solid. Nice to have another capable National receiver. I look forward to seeing what he does as he gets more reps in the offence.

Looking ahead - Very much Looking forward to Thursday against Hamilton. I would imagine Tim White has a chip on his shoulder. If we can keep Kenny to a respectable number receiving, I like our chances. Hopefully the forecast changes as it looks like crap for the end of the week, Thursday included.

Good comments! I especially agree about Nield. We were missing that steady big target in the middle of the field last season. Despite the drop I think he was everything and more what we would expect of him in Blue and Gold. Good guy to have when you need a first down in a throwing situation.

Two points I forgot:

Perkins looks like a natural in short yardage. For CFL rookies, short yardage can sometimes be an adventure. When we went for it around our own 20 or 25 with a full yard and he was able to convert, that to me indicated the coaches have all the trust in the world in him to be able to convert.

Long snapping: Two snaps on field goals were less than ideal. Kudos to our holder for being able to dig it out of the turf and get it pinned for Sergio without interrupting his rhythm of the kick.

Leroux to Sheehan... Hoping that gets cleaned up.

As I’m pushing my glasses up, Nield had two drops . . . :)

Blasphemy!

You know after watching mills run all over us, If dudes could tackle he’d have had less than half his run yards. Why can’t our guys tackle? They all go for the big hits it seems. If nothing else but he was, Osh wouldn’t miss tackles like that as a player. Must piss him off or maybe it’s lack of padded practices? Somethings different. Bighill didn’t miss tackles until he was cooked. Are jones and kyrie cooked? When was the last time Tony Jones made a tackle for a loss or less than 2 yard gain. ??

It's not a graveyard anymore. Until last year we were undefeated at McMahon Stadium for 5 seasons. Yeah, the Stamps won every game played there last year but who cares? We've already got s win in Calgary this season. With Noeller it's either total happiness because the birds are singing & the butterflies are free. Or absolute terror because the damned sky is falling in.

Jones made a bunch of tackles... grabbing at guys legs after they blew by him.

First game in an abreviated training camp & pre season where hitting was rare. Give the guys a chance to find their football legs,

Condell did every thing i hoped he would. It’s early and the pass game has a lot to work on, but the play call was a massive improvement.

The wind was crazy, which isn’t un common there (or here) Picking the wind in the 4th is a gamble. One that has paid off big at times and missed several other times. Personally I hate giving up possessions. but that was a strong wind.

nailed it. Rust is real. We’ve got a bunch of changes on D, and that makes it hard as well. but with modest contact at best in camp, you need to use the pre season to get what you used to get from camp.

Good to hear in 2026 we have "Happy Zach" after 2025 unhappy Zach. I prefer happy Zach.

It’s scheme tho cuz we suck against the run.

As long as they start the season just a few weeks after thje snow goes away this is going to happen. Only the die hards care about the CFL in early June. The season starts too early. Next year even earlier. It should start with a bang on the Canada Day weekend. Not with a whimper on some random early June Thursday. The season opening weekend should be an event. The CFL has decided that it should compete with the SC playoffs & the NHL Draft in the spring & the MLB playoffs & World Series in October & early November. How stupid is that?

Ok but, who wants to go to late season games in shitty late october weather?

that doesn’t mean it’s scheme, it’s not like we had an empty run fit or some thing.

The problem with the run stop was execution in the assigned gaps and tackling. Which will suffer when you don’t have contact reps at game speed.

Also Mills is a damn good running back. Bias aside you could easily make a case for him being the most dangerous running back in the game. He was no more effective than Oliveria was against Calgary. But if you’re going to keep Adams under 250 yards passing I think you can live with 115 yards from Mills. It’s not like he torched us for 200. Obviously we want to see improvements from the D but I thought they did a much better job in the second half. Didn’t he have 90 plus yards at half? Some things to work on and get better for sure but I don’t think I’m worried yet. Obviously when you concentrate on getting more pressure to the quarterback it’s harder to fill those gaps in the run game so it’s a fine line of picking your poison.

Mills was 95 rushing in the first but 17 in the second.

yeah...rust and not up to game speed from lack of playing until that game...I expect it to look a lot better Thursday...The one where Ayers got faked right out...Uncharacteristic and result of no reps..Same with the one Bryant goofed....on ZC big pass to Pokey on last drive..Bryant had key block to keep ZC clean and had his guy locked down

We have seen it before...guys looking useless at times from way we run camp...No alarm bells for me yet...Other than we need to abolish the 3rd Canadian receiver as it does nothing for us
