25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

Is this ever a guy we should take a run at? I really like Pokey as a receiver but not sure he's a 1A Superstar guy... Would you ever take a run at Hatcher as your #1 and then have Pokey and Demski as 2/3?

I hate change. This is going to take me like a year to get used to.

Can confirm - ran it through Google Translate and this is what came back:

  • Brady is the most complete running back in the CFL full stop. Rushing, receiving, blocking, no one does it all as well as he does.   Now that doesn't automatically make the contract he got w

I agree, he should do well. I don't follow Olympic flag football so I have no idea what the game looks like and how competitive other countries are

It's 5 on 5 probably using American rules.

It wasnt like the polo location was isolated. Plenty of outdoor concerts happened there. Was a bonus for me that I lived so close. I could see the stadium from my 2nd storey, walked to games and got to listen to concerts for free

The sound doesn't really escape the current stadium. You basically can't even hear the sound from inside the stadium from the intersection of Bison Drive and Chancellor Matheson. You hear a low muffled sound and the Bomber games are cranked to about 15 on in-stadium sound. Like when one of the hosts or PA announcer is talking it's very loud.

You just know the new neighbours will complain. It's inevitable. There's always one. Or in a big residential area, a hundred.

Hmmm, it's no joke. People like to ***** & complain. Especially on social media. If 20,000 people move close to thje stadium then if it's not noise it'll be traffic. Or some other ****. Someone will be offended. Politicians will panic.

Pure hyperbole man. These things exist in most large cities

But what is happening that wasn't before is that these large stadiums are either part of or are being surrounded by residential areas. Which wasn't common before. There shoukld be a buffer zone around stadiums so that a high density residential development like this in Ottawa doesn't occur literally just feet away from TD Place Stadium. Would you be happy if this kind of development surrounded PAS?Lansdowne 2.0 | Engage Ottawa

well for one thing. It's quite literally can't exist around PAS. There just isn't the room, unless the university is going to get rid of all of it's parking. And I honestly wouldn't care 1 bit if it some how did happen. AND if anyone decides to live there, thinking there would be no issues around noise/traffic etc etc while that venue is being used....they're idiots and as long as those properties are making $$ no one is actually going to care.

That development can be done on the north side of PAS if you look at the renderings. The residential part looks very close to the stadium. As far as no one caring about noise because they're making money, sure. That's why we see just as many videos of people on social media complaining or in conflict with others in rich residential neighbourhoods as we see in the Hood.

It's too bad that we're in a holding pattern with Taylor Elegersma that we've completly let the backup qb position become something of a wilderness similar to what happened to our DL. Powell would have been the perfect backup to Collaros. Experienced & still young enough to give us 7 or 8 years as a starter. However, we let him get away for some rookie with delusions of grandeur & a fantasy money tree in his living room.

What about Powell screams 7-8 year starter? He had a fairly unremarkable rookie season. Did well in the one game in 2024 before leaving the field in an ambulance due to a concussion and has thrown 12 passes since.

The backup plan was chris streveler. I don't think Elgersema factored in at all. Trouble is strevelers knee is ****** and we got nothing

"It could" as a possibility sure. But it just wouldn't ever make sense. And it still wouldn't be right over top like the Ottawa rendering shows. And with how the golf course is currently being developed, it just doesn't seem like that would make any sense...regardless, some residents may care...but the people who could actually make change won't give two damns about it as long as the $$ keeps flowing.

Very little residential will be very close to the stadium. You have the rapid transit station to the North/North West & campus land to the North East providing a buffer. Those areas are bordered by Sifton road which is meant to be the main retail area of the new development with coffee shops, pubs, banks etc. Here's a better look at what's planned - it's nothing like Ottawa. They are also very actively promoting the proximity to the stadium (and other facilities) as a major selling point so people buying there should be well aware of those considerations.

I absolutely can't wait for this. Going to be a tremendous asset to the city!!

It was obvious to me at least that Strev wasn't the guy & we needed to move on. The knee injury has forced the Bombers hand but Powell was there. We weren't aggressive enough.

Well, every qb that backs up someone is unproven & is a roll of the dice. I never said he was guaranteed. But of all the FA qbs available he was the best.

yeah, Powell didn't look like the second coming of Jeff Garcia or anything ... but in 2023 he went from QB3 to starting half of the games in Hamilton.

He went 4-5 on an 8-10 team and had 10 TDs and 9 picks and massively beat expectations for a QB3 who becomes the emergency starter. I agree with SpeedFlex that he was the best young FA QB in the CFL this offseason and he could've maybe possible been a successor to Zach for us. But now he is in Edmonton and I hope for the sake of the league that we haven't seen his ceiling yet.
