Bombers signed former REDBLACKS DB Deandre Lamont.

Lamont is a player that gives us options, hed played safety corner and halfback

If we decide to move Allen to corner Lamont could step in at safety. If we pr him.he could back up several positions. At only 27 it should raise the competition level as well. Really a low risk signing

I can see him at corner game 1..unless another Alford drops outta nowhere

I say this knowing osh and how he is..and will favour the vet if he had access to one

Sure he played Alford and Nichols immediately but had to...we had no vets and open spots..Holm too was due to injury...

If that was training camps with old vets ...we would never have mentioned Nichols or Holm..again..and Alford wouldnt be in the NFL now

Wasn't Holm actually cut...and then brought back cause of injuries?

He was cut after the first pre-season game but was brought back soon after and slowly but surely worked his way into the lineup where he appeared in nine games with four starts. As a full-time starter in 2023, he proved to be one of the best halfbacks in the CFL, and he further cemented that in 2025 when he was named the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the first time in his career.

@Booch I am pretty remember you're not high on Holms before.

I think you can count on the Bombers not running a smurf at boundary corner this year.

They've got Allen plus 5 other guys 6'1 plus, two with CFL experience, coming into camp at DB.

No more watching a 5'9 guy with no ability to play the ball eat **** on 50-50 balls vs 6'3-6'4 receivers.

I would imagine if a DC has more reliable cover guys, he can than make more use of pressure packages / blitzes

you can, but blitzing is hard and strange in the cfl.

The more guys you have that are reliable in coverage, like you said, you can do any ting and every thing better.

D today is all about how well you can blanket with out breaking, and how well you can disrupt at the line. If a guy isn’t one of those or a guy who heavily enables others to do that easier, they aren’t an asset on the field. Just a body filling a spot.

If you can take away over the top routes with out a massive bubble, you can run up and play the ball or the man and disrupt the pass too.

Guys who can do both are worth their weight in championship rings. Guys like ba, biggie, and wj in their prime.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we find another db this year. We got lots of good vets, but we scout db and use them really well.

Like him more than I did..that being said stixk him at safety as a true over top guy...he's a waif and gets out muscled and isnt a strong tackler...thats why he gets targeted lots...hed be a killer int machine at safety if his eyes are as good as these fancy feet we here about

Our secondary save for Nichols and Griffen were a right bunch of wussies who installed zero fear in anyone
