Bombers-Als Pre Game Discussion

So the game is meaningless from our end as we can't pass Calgary and BC. Its the ESF for us. To me, they should sit Zach to keep him healthy. I'd also like to see Shay and Smith gets reps at linebacker. Call me crazy, but it would be nice to see our two high draft picks get actual reps on D.

I sit nobody. We use it to try to get better. If someone gets hurt, oh well.

I mean if we win and BC losses we get third but the Riders likely play their C Squad again.

I'm torn on this.  If they do go with scrubs again, it means most of their starters have sat for close to a month - do they want to roll into the playoffs cold?  I expect them to play the A team (at least part of the game). 

BC may wait to see what Calgary does as well before determining their final roster as well.  If Calgary loses to Edmonton, that gives the Lions 2nd place making their game against Sask meaningless.

Calgary also needs to win for the Bombers to get 3rd in the West. Otherwise it's a 3 way tie and the Bombers get the crossover over.

Also BC isn't going to lose as all they have to do is beat the Riders and they get 2nd place.

The Lions need to set their roster before the Stamps game. Sure they can make changes but the players they add to the roster need to come from the practice roster.

Also if Calgary lose, BC still aren't guaranteed 2nd. If the Bombers win then there would be a 3 way tie and the Lions would be 3rd in the West

One of those predicted scenarios is incorrect. Winnipeg wins, BC, Calgary loses - Bombers finish third. All 3 teams would finish 10 - 8, Bombers have the season series vs. B.C.

I thought I read something about how if there's a 3 way tie, we finish last of that group... Can't remember why

Winnipeg has a 2-3 record against BC and Calgary.

Lions are 2-2, so they have a higher winning percentage and would get 3rd in the West.

 

Even if their record was the same in the games with the other tied clubs, the Lions also would have the next tie breaker which is points for and against in their games with Winnipeg and Calgary.

Lions are plus 16 and Bombers are minus 16.

The one thing people miss is that they don't take the winner of the tiebreak scenario, they dump the loser.

So because Winnipeg has the worst round-robin W% of the group they get dropped, and then the tiebreaker resolves between CGY-BC

There was definitely something about us losing out in a 4 way tie. Not sure about the 3 way tie. But that seems likely as well

I believe thats only if a winner isn't determined in a 3 way tie. But because Calgart would be 3-2 and the Lions were 2-2 then Calgary would get 2nd.

BC is 2 - 0 vs. Calgary

Winnipeg is 2 - 0 vs. B.C.

Mtl I doubt rests guys as they have a chance to still get first...so they will bring their A game and based on what we saw vs edm...and last week and the riders scrubs...Likely trounce us and its off to the east...Likely for another trouncing...I hope for us to be the first team to come out of the east as the crossover..and win at home as Eastern Champs...but I also not delusional either

@DTonOB mentioned that we lost out in any tie scenario that involved Calgary so 4 way or 3 way, it made no difference.

I think Montreal will roster their starters but if the TiCats win on Friday (against Ottawa) then Hamilton clinches first place.

If thats the case then I could see the Als backups getting more reps.

The verbiage 'eliminated' makes it sound like the bottom team drops out and that seems to jive with what the analysts have been saying. So in a three way tie between us, Calgary and BC, we drop to 4th, and then it goes head to head for BC/Calgary. It seems more intuitive to say that in the 3 way tie breaker, Calgary gets 2nd because they win the 2nd tier tiebreaker, and then it resolves head to head against BC and Winnipeg but I am just a fan.

This game is more about don’t wants than any thing. 

Don’t want any key guys hurt. don’t want to see strev play most of the game. don’t want to see the same struggles on O. Don’t want us to fail to excel or get young guys good reps. 

I could see us starting an absurd amount of canadians for the picks.

Why worry about an extra pick when we didn't play either of our top picks on D at all this year?

Ticats will lose. We will dress some pr guys and only play starters for a half.  Montreal wins. We play Hamilton in Hamilton and win. Alexander gets hurt 1st quarter east finals. We win. Zach is hurt with 10 minutes to go. We up by 13 tho. Strev comes in. Hands it off and runs and we win but he also gets hurt. Wilson starts the grey cup vs BC. Gets hurt. Artopoeous comes in early and goes 20 Of 22 for 300 yards and 4 TDs as we defeat Nathan Rourke and the lions. But Artopoeous is hurt with 3 minutes to go. No other qb roster, Jake Thomas comes in.. goes 4 for 4 for 58 yards and Castillo kicks the winner with zeros on the clock. Bombers 31 lions 28.
