lapo must’ve been confused. neither 18 or 19. he didn’t have a game with 11 attempts or completions. 10/20 in the bjb with 2 picks in 19, but i think that was in relief. clearly not on purpose to only complete 10 either way. 9/15 in the finale but he didn’t play the whole game. 7/17 when he came in in relief in 19 and started his stretch.

The 19 stretch chris played he was attempting 25-40 passes a game. think lapo forgot that.

August 24, 2019, he was 7 of 17 for 89 yards. We won 34-28. He also rushed for 95 and a TD.

Zach is very far from being a perennial mop candidate. he was brutal all year last year too. he struggled down the stretch in 23 due to injury and has never been the same.

From last year past week 11

QB A: 190/262 2392 Yards, 13/6 TDs/INTs

QB B: 177/260, 2318 Yards, 13/7 TDs/INTs

One of those is Collaros. One of those is the QB who won the all-star nod in the West (Harris). Yeah Collaros was buoyed by a great game against the Elks... but he also had an outrageous game against the Riders in the West Final as well. He had a horrendous start to the year, and then finished pretty strong IMO. The problem is the Bombers have a MOP calibre player in Oliveira, but get away from him and let Zach gunsling it. If we were to play a bit more conservative I think the Bombers would be more successful (when he is playing which has been an issue this year)

But tonight Streveler completed less than 1 pass a quarter. You just can’t justify it. 3 of 8. That’s under 50 percent. With a pick. I mean. We won because Vaval and cam Allen.

What lapo said was they won a game with 11 completions.

I think he just misremembered the stat line. The Redblacks of 2021season (which LaPo coached) he was 12/20 for 71 yards with a longest completion of 15 yards in their season opener.

Saying it was planned makes sense, this was after Nichols shoulder surgery and it was clear his arm strength was waning.

You know how many times that happens in a game...to even the "great" qbs?

His schemes and his route creations...and where and how he layers them is garbage...where there is minimal options and many times multiple guys in same area...easy to defend...and easy to get recievers killed...as we seen today

Zero options for blitz beaters or quick passes...first game yr we had a lot of ball out quick passes..not now

ZC has thrown a Hella lot suicide and hospital balls too...and panics just as much in pocket with any sign of possible collapse...he usually throws a pick or gets sacked...at least Strev gets a yard or 2 on those

Or offense is so easy to scheme against and its pretty apparent minimal coaching is going on...and 14 games in..I have yet to see any adjustments to original gameplan....or to flow of game

Coaching I say again here...on several levels...fails us week in and out

And yup we won...despite it...

After today, I'll never complain about Zach again. I appreciate him now like I never have before.

Fun stat....

Streveler in his career with the Blue has only 2 games with more then 250 yards.

Jake Dolegala in one season with the riders had 5 games with more then 250 yards ,  the next season Shea Patterson with the Riders had 4 games himself with over 250 yards.

We cut two of those guys and kept the wrong one.

yes, but that’s not nearly 11 completion or attempts.

divisional all star is not close to the same as perennial mop, and 1/3 of a season does not an mop or all star make.

2/3 of a year is not the start to a year.

Let’s look further at his season last week 11.

3 games under 202 yards.

4 games with as many or more picks than tds

2 games over 250 yards passing

6 tds in 7 games then 1 game with 6 tds and 430 yards passing.

The second half of last year is massively padded by the 1 game against edmonton. Take that out and in the final stretch of the year he had 1900 yards 7 TDS 6 ints. 3 good games, 3 ok games, 11 bad games.

Unfortunately, Zach isn’t a game manager. If he could be a strong game manager getting the ball out quickly that would help off set issues a lot. but he just isn’t that guy.

no games over 250 since 19 either. And none of his games or 250 or more have even the same number of tds as ints. Since the end of 18, he’s had 2 games with more tds than picks.

he was talking about strev though yeah? Maybe that’s what he was confusing. i mean that is 4 years ago and a hell of a lot has happened in that time lol.

Yes Lapo was talking about Strev specifically... Was just pointing out that it's possible to win with him throwing very little because they'd done it before.

That one’s up there too, as is the 2021 west final, but after thinking about it, it’s gotta be today’s game.

I’ve can’t remember a CFL QB attempting only 8 passes or the winning team being out thrown by 350 yards.

We need to change our name to the "Winnipeg Rugby Club", as we don't do forward passes.

The good news is that Strev only has to play until 2095 to break Calvillo's passing record.

I'd ask Lapo, sure but is it sustainable in a passing league like the CFL? And a side question, I'm wondering how the receivers going into a game enjoy/prep for a QB who aint going to throw?

I would assume that the % chance of us winning games with him throwing very little  would be well below 50%.    Throwing only 3 completions has to be something ridiculously low like 10%....

Strev has value actually...in right role

His running is coming around and if no set back next yr..Will be back to what it was...

We need a legit QB 1 next yr...and a guy at 2 we either groomed...or someone else did and they play backup

QB 3 in Canada is a moot wasted spot and nobody develops there..perfect for Strev...he can be your short yardage guy...used in wildcat...play TE...Slot...out of backfield...cover teams...and have packages for him like the 2019 run

Dude is an athlete...ultimate team guy...a leader...respected...will do anything for team....so use that wasted QB3 spot for a multi use guy.

The naysayers about his running ability not like it was....well duhhhhhh...think about it

That being said...its getting closer to where it was...and will get there

And if we were to cut him today...hed be picked up immediately and whatever team grabbed him would be using him in all kinds of way...garuanteed

You can win not throwing with right personel and proper offensive scheme

Go watch some Army games...

We'd have to dump OC guy tho cause our guy can't design his way out of a wet paper bag...nor be able how to convey how to actually execute a triple option type offence....JJ could tho

With right guys you could run that all day in tempo and kill a defence...and gambling on 3rd and 4 or less would be high success rate

Zach's the best we got. We better appreciate that after the garbage performance we saw by Streveler yesterday. Whether Zach's the right qb, well the Mafia laid this **** on our us & our team. We're stuck with it.

I’m not sure that we still have zach. maybe we will get real lucky for the stretch run but the amount of high hits thatve caused him to miss time this year is as serious as a heart attack

He can definitely be a valuable guy on the roster. Just don’t want to see him starting anymore.

Allen......Knew this kid was a find, right from the get go...Those pi's that were called on him in his first start were bogus,,,,He's proving he's a keeper

Brady.....just keeps pounding away...Luv his never say die attitude

Vaval......showed in a couple games this year he has the goods and is going to keep on getting better

.......................big thumbs down regarding the coaching in that one...Hogan and the head honcho better pick up their game

and after watching that game I have to say my sadness at losing Dru Brown to Ottawa was mostly overcome too, he was hot garbage yesterday.

I love Dru and would still take him back as soon as Zach is done. Both guys, with the right team around them (OL, Weapons, Play calls) can be surgeons out there.

I'd trade any of our QBs for Brown in a heartbeat.

If he's not achieving in Ottawa, it's because Ottawa is the forbidden zone of the CFL, there's some weird malaise over the place that prevents the assemblies of talent into teams, and it's been that way since the early eighties.
