The Cobb choice, given we didn’t use him as the second KR .. is also incredibly curious

I don’t know why some people keep denying it - there’s a clear lack of logic behind a fair share of our roster management choices. It’s not as if it’s only just started - this **** has been going on for years.

It’s been going on the entire time Osh has been here. Stacking one position group and not using 2-3 guys every game while leaving other positions wanting.

Yeah...guy with return experience..and we put Cooley with none back there with vaval...why didnt we just keep using MCI?

Our rostering.  And then use of that roster...worst in league.. and yes...been ongoing

Great speed too. You've been going on about Person, and you were right.

Bit of backstory...I work with other trainers/coaches and recruiters prepping guys for combines...free agent tryouts and OTA's and also guys who can't or no longer eligible for NCAA to land in some JUCO programs...anyways was aware of Person...and knew he was a guy on a lot of NFL radars...so when we signed him I touched base with people in my orbit and asked how the hell this happened...I mentioned it before here but a few teams wanted him to be a pass rush specialist but to bulk up...and he didnt want to add the weight and just be situational...so explored his options...I believe we neg listed him and up he came...he really shouldn't be up here but our gain...hope he stays here but if he keeps playing like he is and getting better I can see him getting looks next yr

Yeah you were singing his praises back in September but also had concerns about him getting an opportunity to get in the lineup.  Correct on both counts!

Speed, and tremendous upper body power. Reminds me a lot of Gavin walls.

The hilarious part is all the roster hawks a 6 weeks ago with "put Cooley on, have him play receiver, return kicks and punts, he's such a stud."  They do it...and...?

Turns out tossing guys into the fire to do something they've never done at any level when they are rookie pros isn't a great move.  Especially when the role involves securing the football.

The "just ******* put this guy here, and this guy there" stuff is mega stupid.

Kind of like elevating a guy to OC and expecting ongoing positive results without encountering any bumps in the road.

And any rookie receiver who comes up...especially slot i...and any HB is playing a position they basically never have either...and it's a non issue

Cooley on to be used as a back....and in 2 back sets....or a motion guy makes total sense...any skill position guy coming into the league could...and should be able to do it...or taught it, and if they can't...then why the hell they even on the roster, and what are our positional coaches and co-ords doing?

Punt returning is a knack and yes not anyone can just do it and Cooley wasnt out there for punts,,,thank god...Kick-offs tho are fairly straight forward and easy...so either they nevcer had him practice it...which is likely as we never practiced all week, so the smart coaching would have just left MCI back there who has not been an issue...or put proven Cobb back there...just another case of our brain numb coaching that is hurting us more than helping a lot of times and we win in spite of it

Having Cooley on, and not using him at all on offence was pointless and a waste...Allen on would have made more sense seeing as we got an injury to Parker, and he also showed he can play safety if Kramdi was failing there....also....elephant in room Mitchell...proven KR guy....and receiver....who needs to be given his shot, or we cut bait....just poor coaching and roister management every which way it's looked at

Yeah the talk was about grooming him for that role.  Clearly we did **** all in coaching him since he twice didn’t know what his responsibilities were when it’s kicked shallow and to his side.
Reality is if you are gonna break into this league as an imp rb, or if you’re going to roster one, they need maximum versatility. And rb is a spot with a lot of the build in tools to do the extra jobs.
Plus we’ve literally done this before. With Flanders, Augustine, gmc etc.

The last imp wr around here needs to have the ability to run sweeps etc too.

End of the day it’s the ocs job to put the players in position to get the ball in their hands and make plays. Who do you want to be that guy, Corcoran, Mitchell, and Cooley. You can run Cooley out of the back field, tight etc and have him make easy catches, motion for sweeps and hand offs, and let him make plays. Or, you can let Mitchell do what we paid him to do. Or you can put out Corcoran who can’t block, get open, or run, but he can catch.

Imo, next to hc and OC is the hardest coaching job come game day. Even the prep work during the week is massive. If you’re a hc who doesn’t have a heavy hand in o or d, OC is likely harder. Or being an oc with a struggling qb. Hard, hard job.
It also has one of the shortest shelf life’s.

I would’ve expected our O to be much further along at this point, especially with Jackson as the qb coach. Hogan has had plenty of adversity, I’d be willing to give him more grace, if he had shown any flashes at all. But the problems are deep and the bright spots nearly none existent.

And no play makers...not a good mixture

He's legit...I know guys who clocked him at mid 4.5's in 40 yard dash...for dline guy that's insane

There are certain personalities who, when forced to take an action not chosen by then, will do what is forced on them but will do it in a fashion that sabotages any benefit. Then they can say "See? I did it and it didn't work just like I said". I see O'Shea as doing this passive/aggressive crap.

Yeah...Tates a good journalist and guy..but he also has to spread the message from Osh and team...he won't be critical of anything...ever...not with any real conviction

What an incredibly ignorant thing to post about one of the greatest writers the CFL has ever known and a dyed-in-the-wool Bombers fan.... Jesus. Put some respect on the man's name.

No one’s saying he isn’t great. But he’s basically retired and writing fluff pieces (of great quality to be fair) and has been in booster mode for years. Irving go into the same deal before he retired.

The hack part was a step too far but how do you justify this "one of the greatest writers the CFL has ever known and a dyed-in-the-wool Bombers fan"? It's pretty hard to be an objective writer when one is a big fan and then throw in that he's also on the Bombers' payroll, at least that's my understanding?

Tait is a good writer and always was. He's got a nice job being the Bombers hype man right now but that doesn't diminish how he set himself apart based on his work prior to taking that gig.

Ed Tait and Randy Turner articles the day after a game were great stuff.

Turner had a way with words like none other.
