  • After only 2 games, Wheatfall is sixth in the league in receiving yards with 213 on 11 catches and he has the most 30+ yard receptions with 4. It's only 2 games but he flashed some moments of brillian

You need adequate time to hit the routes that are called.  So if they are trying to take vertical shots and want that to be a large part of the offense, they need to be able to protect so their QB can

Yes, though it’s also important to note strevy was getting the ball out much quicker.

Lets see what happens 2 weeks in a row.

Agreed. Vanterpool did come out of camp starting at that position. We shall see how things unfold.

Considering bc has a good talented dl, I think the pass pro was far better than adequate. You just don’t get games with no hits no pressures on a regular basis.

Also, some of his worst throws came with time and a clean pocket. I don’t think a better performance by the ok would’ve changed any thing. He chucked ducks with lots of time and open guys.

No one’s throwing the ball down field on the regular when the wr is already 40 yards out. You’d need to be throwing 70yards down field to hit a guy in stride with the ball out of your hand at a target 40 yards down field.
3-4 seconds is what you aim for, but’s that’s ball out at 20 ish yards and including stepping up and getting it out.
If you watch the advanced feed from tsn, they show the pocket time on the snaps. Zach had lots of 3-4 second pockets, and wasn’t seeing pressure in less than 2.5.

ZC has picked up a bad habit of when getting panicked or pressure starts to get a lil chaotic of just chucking it.....and not away but into trouble....and or for picks

And seeing as he is reluctant to run....and reams know it they put the pressure on. He used to able to navigate the pocket more and buy time without running, but last 2 yrs he has seemed to have lost that knack..

Ya he definitely looks more panicked than he used to. Oline got worse in the middle the last few years and that led to less of a pocket to step up into. Too much getting pushed back into his face. Add to that ZCs age and there’s a decline.

He can still move around and throw on the run. That first TD to Schoen was a beauty on the move.

Hope the new OC and JJ can take advantage of the things ZC can still do well.

I think some of this is caused by his reduced mobility. He doesn't have that escapability gear anymore. Combine that with being one of the most physically battered QBs of his generation, and you get panic in the backfield.

He's not late stages matt nichols, but mentally I don't think he has been able to adjust to the fact he cant frequently out run ends any more.

Bottom line:  QB play was better last week

We're both right.

Strev was taking the short stuff when he had to. Getting the ball out quick, bombers had a good mix of run and pass honestly. This week? Not so much. Zach isn’t a guy who takes the 5 6 yards to the open guy, he’d rather go 60 yards in 1 throw still. Zach kinda holding the ball longer than Streveler did. Only slight difference is on Strevelers “big throws” he was throwing 20 or 25 yard passes that were turned into big gainers from YAC. Good example was the Wheatfall big catch, Strev prob hits him in stride while Zach, well Keric had to stop and wait. Huge difference.

3 stars.

1. Griffin. Guy was seriously all over on D.  Versatility is great.

2. Parker. Had a great game after being just ok last week. His fumble return was huge. Play of the game.

3. Wheatfall. I don’t think he missed a pass. Caught every ball thrown his way. Dudes becoming lawler. &nbsp

HH. Eli for sure. I popped for the TD.

HHH. Since it’s all about the game and how you play it here, I’m gonna give this one to Holm who had 8 tackles.

crunch of the game. Bridges on the BC receiver. That was nice. Awe on Peterson was big also.  I love players who celebrate when losing lol.

and gotta mention cooley who had a 6.1 yard average on 7 carries. Was better than Peterson actually

all in all. 2 and 0. And season series. And 2 and 0 vs west. And let’s be real. Edmonton isn’t great, Sask is barely beating bad teams and Calgary? I dunno what to think. In my opinion. Winnipeg and AND  AND the Als are the top 2 and then it’s a bunch of just average.

He plays more self preservation style now...so they need to customize a lot of stuff for a cerebral style now...he definitely doesn't get the ball out as fast as Strev either...its out of his hands lightning quick...once he gets more reps and a comfort level with the system and his receivers hes gonna be very effective...

Cooley runs with speed and violence in traffic...and can still side step guys...he is definitely gonna pop some long runs out of the scrum if he gets more opportunities

was that the one where he celebrated like he had just made a game-winning play... even though Peterson got the first down... and they were down by two scores in the 4th quarter... what a clown...  🤣

B.C ..HAM and the Riders are notoriously bad for that....acting like a bag of assbags on the simplest of plays

I think Peterson only got 7 yards on that one on a 1st and 20 after a holding call.

I could be thinking of a different one... I'm sure Awe had over the top celebrations on several insignificant plays

There was a couple but yes being down in the 4th quarter was the one that stood out.

Not getting a penalty (especially one that comes with a fine) is cause enough for Awe to celebrate!
