Personally I'd have gone white as the vet receiver, but that is minor IMO. The big issue, as it was last year is decisions in the front 7 on D, defensive line in particular. Basically they are saying "we are OK with Thomas playing the whole game if we need and we don't need depth there". Which is ludicrous when you look at the ages of the starters....

Maybe my brain isn't working this morning but who is on the IR?

Vaughters is as big as any of them and he's starting.

That's what they did. Just not showed the most in the preseason games. There was a whole camp that most of us have no idea what happened at because there is no one to report on it.

2nd year guy Wheatfall beat out Mitchell and White to make the active roster.

Sterns beat out Mitchell and White to make the active roster. Reports are he has chemistry with Zach.

Hall made a few catches in a preseason game. So what?

Vaughters was picked up as a cut prior to free agency. Logan is hurt.

Dressing 4 DT's says that?  When half the defensive snaps we'll probably only have 1 on the field?

I think they are kind of thin on the edge but it's also been a conscious decision of the DC to change their approach to pressure.  I don't agree with it, but they have built for it.  More basketball style defense from the first 2 levels of the D, which can be disruptive but often isn't consistent.

Well for me the issues is that Kornelson is your depth... now maybe the guy is some hidden gem, but I doubt it, and I doubt he was the absolute beat option for that spot. An injury happens and he is it for depth on the DL and that's a concern.

I was walking at Polo Park a few years ago and proudly wearing my 2019 Grey Cup Blue Bombers cap. Suddenly, a guy (seating near the Apple store area) yell at me: "You Winnipeg-ers, all you do is whine, whine, whine".

At least on this board, he's right. 😁

He’s still pissed at losing the PPI parking concession.

I get the frustration but the signing bonuses are a sunk cost no matter who plays now.

Mitchell got 63K upfront, 148K overall, so $85K for the season,  ~$4.7K per game

JJones got 15K upfront, 120.5K overall, so $105K for the season, ~$5.8K per game.

It's game 1, so $10.5K to sit.

*numbers from 3downnation so who knows if accurate

Sorry. I'm an accountant.

FWIW I really want to see JJones play and would prefer him on the roster. Hope he gets in soon.

Mitchell it sucks to burn the bonus money but whichever of the 3 vet receivers brought in showed the most in camp gets to play.

Overall much better depth position than last year at receiver and LB.

I wouldn't panic, they have 4-6 games to sort out the roster, pending injuries. I'm sure all 4 receivers fighting for the two open spots will get a second look, who cares if they extend TC competition into the season if they can afford it, and decisions made are not written on stone tablets.

Considering Lawson is possibly going to be eased in...and Kornelson....well is a huge question mark...showed less than Schmeck...and he didnt show much...so that reeks of Thomas being on the field.....alot

Lawson and Ayers too.  Plus if things went haywire with injuries they'd roll with the 30 fronts exclusively.

Kornelson might surprise some people.  Look at who is getting picked and not in CFL Drafts these days, and who is getting cut.  There's no participation medals anymore.

I haven't seen many DT's come through Canada West who were as disruptive as him.  He's not just a gap filler, he'd finish as many plays as the Bisons LB's.  Huge motor, great tackler.  Strong as ****...think he has multiple weight room records in the Bisons room.

Faster than Schmekel, stronger than Schmekel, more explosive than Schmekel.

I'm willing to be surprised by Kornelson for sure.  Also i have a hard time with Ayers as the DE depth.... guy is listed at 227 lbs. I just think that ALL THE LINEBACKERS!!!11! Isn't optimal roster usage. I'd have used a DE as the last DL spot rather than another DT.

And considering Persons has played OLB as well as DE in school...is faster than anyone on our defence other than a few dbs...also faster than pretty much all our receiver's...I'm sure he'd be useful on ST's and as an actual dlineman.

225 to 230 range isn’t impossible to play edge at. If you’re quick and have good hands you could have a hay day with slow tackles. He’s got the tenacity and intangibles but man I’d rather see him polished in camp and pre season then eased in if that’s the goal.
If any thing I’d probably toss tony jones to edge in a bind.

This.  When I suggested sitting Sterns and hiding an extra Canadian it wasn't a knock on Sterns.  I actually liked his play in the preseason, he made a couple catches in traffic and held onto the ball.  Its just that when we roster that extra american OL and decide that we're going with Jefferson, Vaughters and Adams as the only 3 true american DL on the depth chart, its absolutely mindboggling how dumb the roster usage is with american spots.

OL is the single most important spot on the team.  BC is playing 4 Americans there.

Vanterpool is a giant upgrade on Dobson and either Wallace or Eli at this stage in their careers, Wallace on the way up, Eli just kind of meh in general and past the midpoint of his career.
