Lock of the Week 1 2025

Alrighty with the preseason done and the regular season only a few short days away its time to start the Lock of the Week contest.

Rules are pretty simple.

1. Every week you must pick a player that will score a touchdown. Passing touchdowns don't count. Receiving, rushing, return (interception, fumble, punt and kick) count as a TD

2. There is no limit to the amount you can pick a player. If you want to pick Dalton Schoen  every week than you can.

3. If you fail to correctly pick then you acquire a strike. If you correctly pick you do not pick up a strike.

4. If you miss making a pick for the week you will acquire a strike.

5. All picks must be made before kickoff of the team that your selected player is playing in.

6. 5 strikes and you are out of the game.

7. Last one remaining or the one with the least strikes at the end of the year wins.

8. In the highly unlikelihood that players are tied at the end of the year - the winner will be the player who has selected the most different players thought the year.

Prize for winner is $50 Bomber Store Gift Card

  • QB sneaks shouldn't be allowed in lock of the week. There, I've said it, and it's a hill I'm willing to die on.

For once, I think you're actually not wrong... I'd back you on this.

Pretty tough to administer a rule like that, and there would be a lot of grey areas. Is a sneak on third down only, from the 1,2 , 5 or longer, what about a fake handoff and the QB runs off tackle. What about a running back who comes and takes the snap on third and short and  scores(has happened). What if the punt holder is a QB and picks up the hold and runs it in. There would need to be so many rules and the administrator would have a heck of a time trying to figure each scenario and there would probably be a ton of arguments. Best to keep it simple, there are many times a third down QB gets shut out in a game.

My team has gone 3 seasons without being able to do one, so I say why stop at Lock Of The Week? I would love it if the league adopted this rule too.

Easy to administer... QB runs inside the 2 aren't allowed.

If someone picks a receiver or rb - and they score on a direct snap...

A touchdown is a touchdown and that’s the point here. Picking dude who will score a TD.

That's OK cuz they ain't a QB.

Milanovic-Litre count?  he's not a quarterback.

QBs are allowed and encouraged to score TDs in football tho. Some QBs are brought in specifically for that really.

I'd get on board with this, even though I took a QB this week and got it correct

That's a rule solving a problem that doesn't exist. Making a simple thing complicated for no reason.

No QB sneaks isn't complicated.

Solving problems that aren't real by adding unnecessary rules to something does complicate it, even if it's just slightly. There's no good reason to not allow QB sneaks.
