And I agree, you can't assume anything - like BLM is untouchable. Who would have thought Ray was going to be traded? Ask, then ask again. If that doesn't work ask again

Tate and Hall backing up Collaros (who you should make a big money offer to) would take you from the worst QB situation to one of the better ones. having a designated QB coach with those three should go without saying...

Tate is signed to starters money already though, isn't he?   Not sure the Bombers could afford to make the offer to Collaros if they traded for Tate.  I'd rather have Collaros then live through Buck 2.0.

and i'm still unsure that Tate is Pierce 2.0... i think that the kid has been unlucky and will come good.... but having him behind a guy like Collaros and studying with a good OC and QBC would be ideal (like he has in Huf and Dave ****... QBs make good QB mentors)

A nice thought but just not realistic from a financial standpoint to pay both Collaros and Tate. I agree though that Max Hall would make an ideal backup to either of those 2 as your starter.

Bo's not going anywhere. Are the Bombers that dense?? Clue in, Walters. The Stamps are going to protect him. Same with some of the fanbase here. He's not leaving Calgary.

Collaros is the project, Drew Tate despite his injury trouble is a bona fide starter. You will not keep both guys happy playing second fiddle. One or the other becomes your franchise QB.

I think Mitchell is the better fit in Calgary. Tate is a talented guy but he'd never co-exist with BLM & would be a distraction with his unhappiness. Glenn is an easy going guy & doesn't make waves. I think at the end of the day, the Stamps protect Mitchell & if none of their qbs are taken by Ottawa then trade Drew Tate. Just my gut feeling.

I honestly can't believe we'd criticize Walters for inquiring about another "unavailable" QB.

But, I have to say I am on the Collaros bandwagon now - that guy just keeps getting better.  I would be totally fine with trading a pick just for the rights to negotiate before Ottawa snags him...

I'm in. And maybe, just maybe, we're on the way to building a good OL for him. Some good things shown on Friday night.

I believe we can make deals between the end of November and the expansion draft, so offer Toronto something for Collaros and then show him the $$$.

Two weeks to get a deal done...  starting to look like we don't have much choice other than to annoint Walters as GM if we want a shot at a QB!

Is that true. Some reports say no deals after the deadline and before the draft, others say there will be a period before the expansion draft.

 

Now whatever the case, I'd send a pick, player whatever to Toronto for Collaros. Would something like a 2nd or third rounder work given his impeding free agency?

You'd think Toronto would rather low him to a western team than an eastern one, maybe that will work in our favour?

Also at what point do they start to think about protecting Collaros and letting Ray go?

At most Ottawa will draft 1 QB.  They need/want to stock up NI's in the draft, and drafting a QB gives that team the opportunity to protect more NI's.  Collaros, Willy, Glenn are all free agents anyways.

I would still take Ray over Collaros at this point in time, but oh boy Collaros is making a believer out of me. The only guy I'd rather have is Bo Levi Mitchell. After missing out on Mike Reilly, we NEED to get Collaros in the off season and not settle for a Drew Tate or a Drew Willy type of player.

Glenn's not a winner.  A guy who threw 12 passes before this season takes over the 4th quarter of a close game while he fades away.  Personally I'd have zero interest in Glenn as a starter if I were Ottawa, or any CFL team if I'm setting the goal at winning a Grey Cup.  I'd target BLM heavily, offer Calgary the 1st overall pick in the draft and a high pick in 2015 too.  Willy hasn't played enough, and while I like that Collaros has that mentality where he's able to put it all together in the 4th quarter, I have some doubts that he's working in a great environment for a young QB with Milanovich on a very good football team that would be hard to replicate elsewhere.  I'm not sure Collaros could step onto a bad team and make them a good team.  I think BLM is much more likely to be that guy, he's got the best arm (all things considered, strength accuracy placement) of all the QB's in the league IMO and he doesn't lack poise.  McPherson had a nearly perfect QB rating as a starter with Milanovich BTW.  That's when he was the next big thing.
