CFL Week 2 Games (Non-Bombers) Thread

Tonight, BC @ Calgary (Calgary -1.5)

Rourke starting per depth chart, for what that's worth.  Mike Reilly was limited in practice all week and is questionable to play, but is listed as the backup. For what that's worth.

Takeru Yamasaki remains at PK after missing two short field goals and a convert in the game the Lions lost by 4; the Lions do have import kicker Stefan Flintoff on their practice roster.

For the Stamps, Ka'deem Carey returns at starting tailback after a horrendous fourth quarter that sparked the Argo comeback last week.

Whoever books this stuff has Calgary favored by a measly 1.5 points, which seems kinda low to me, but I am not much of a gambler.

cfl.ca was 6-0 Stamps
MBB was 37-3 Stamps

Just like those tall brains above, I picked Calgary in the pickems, which means that Rourke will absolutely go off on them and the Lions will cruise 45-18.  I have a perfect record to preserve!

I don't understand why people are shitting on the rider fans that come to this board - of course they are going to pump the tires of their team when they are doing well... They are not being rude or i

Brutal clip right at the start of that return.  Two things wrong with the block, the Al who threw it was running back toward his own endzone without getting in front of the guy he drilled from behind and two the guy he blocked was already engaged in the open field by another Alouette.

Montreal looks to be the best team in the East & it's not even halftime. So much for the "Super Team" in Hamilton., eh Justin Dunk?? They are going to be tough.

Thought I saw 2 blocks to the back on that punt return

In 2019 they changed the rules so you couldn't blind side guys like that. Even if it wasn't from behind unless they changed the rules that should a been called. I didn't see the 2nd.

The refs and the booth are both clueless.

So far they look good.

For the first time in ages the east might be good. Mtl ham to vs wpg ssk and bc.

looks like it.

harris looks a bit rattled, last pass was kind of akwardly thrown.

Elks offense looks out of sync. They have some great receivers, especially Walker but they can't generate any offense throwing the ball.

Man he had walker open too

Hey Yakishima that's how it's done. Three points from the 47 for the Als 2 for 2.  You watching?

glad chip cox is gone.

I didn't know you were allowed to attempt kicks that long any more 🤣

Harris kinda flopped

Costly penalty on Sewell

Great job, Sewell. Lol.

Looks like Sewell is ready to step in and take his place as resident idiot.

Honestly I think the contact was minimal.

Hey they command center is awake today. Those guys owe the blue some drinks.

So, why didn't we have an automatic review last night?

edmonton punter got his helmet at a flea market it belonged to henry janzen!

Elizondo should be fired already. He's awful.

Harris ****ing sucks too.

They can't stop the run, can't stop the through the air, can't stop Montreal's special teams.

Edmonton is going to be in for a long year.

This is my understanding. All turnovers are automatically reviewed. The ruling on the field was NOT a turnover but an incompletion, so there is no automatic review. O’Shea challenged without a timeout to burn in case he lost, so by rule he cannot challenge and the team gets dinged for delay of game.  So the first good outcome that actually happened (turnover) was missed, the second result of the play (incompletion) gets overturned by the penalty, and the ultimate third result is an advance by the Argos asif the pass was completed in the first place. Gaffe by O’Shea.

Now the part I am unsure about. I think they took out the mandatory league review on everything in the last 3 minutes because they changed the rule to allow coaches to still challenge plays inside the last 3 minutes if they have a timeout, and gave coaches more than one challenge if they get the first one right.

Edmonton is going to be in for an awful year. They're one of the big surprises of the season. Most pundits thought they'd be contending.

Still early. I'm not ready to write the Elks off yet although I've done that for the Stampeders. Shoulda kept Arbuckle & let BLM sign with the Argos.

Adams seems to have matured as a pivot since 2019.  Als have talent at receiver but you gotta have a good QB. Happy for Khari.

Things have seemed inconsistent this year at the very least.
