Looking Ahead: Winnipeg Vs BC

figured I'd get the ball rolling on our next match up, and big game against a division rival.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how we let Martese Jackson put up the 4th best return night in cfl history. Was it we were playing that bad on a few of those drives or he was just playing that good?  I think after making a good 2nd half adjustment, we really limited his returns after that.  I hope whatever we did in the 2nd half carries over vs BC as Rainey is always a dangerous returner.

I think our DL will have another big night as I don't think much of BC's OL.

So far BC has relied on 4th quarter surges to snag their 2 W's, otherwise the games were tight and winnable for the opponents.

This Matt Nichols lead team have been road warriors the last while going 7-2 on the road last year (including that last play fg to win by calgary) and currently 1-0 this year.  Do they feel less pressure on the road? or do they just enjoy spoiling parties?

If the bombers want some league wide respect, I think a big W coming out of Vancouver goes a long way to establishing that.

Our secondary will have it's hands full with Arceneaux and Burnham, I'd imagine Heath and Randle will be their cover guys, but I have a feeling Arceneaux will want to torch Loffler as this will be the first time seeing each other since Loffler laid the lumber to him in the WSF

Really doubt they take Carmichael out at this point.

It would be very surprising if they stuck with him through 2 bad games then took him out of the lineup after a decent one.

That and he plays HB. It's not as easy as having a new guy come in and play the corner.

I also doubt Fogg is back in the line-up just yet.  He only had his 1st practice a day or 2 ago.

We're going to need to generate a lot of pressure and hits on Lulay.

I agree.. he did much better as a defender last game.. wasnt noticeable.  his ST play tho.. was a bit suspect.  hopefully thats corrected.

with that said, Walker did play pretty well as well when he was in. I don't think it would be that much of a detriment BUT I don't think Roc is coming out after his very solid performance.

The reason I say I need to rewatch the game is I'm not 100% Carmichael was even playing, or played much at all vs the argo,  his stat line for that game was 0's across the board. I find it really hard to believe he went from being lit up like a christmas tree to suddenly #carmichaelisland.  Walker for sure had 1 DT that game and I recall seeing him more on the field

Ok I'm watching the game, and it looks like Carmichael was matched up against Khalil Paden. It was nice to see randle and heath switch sides of the field to follow SJ Green to keep these match ups in check.  So ok I'll concede Carmichael didn't get burnt by Paden, but looking at Padens career numbers, I don't think he's burnt anyone

Brian Walker definitely was on the field on a semi-regular basis but it may have only been in dime packages.  I wasn't watching substitutions that closely.

God forbid a rookie improves with more time.

what a mind-bottling concept huh.

that or he lost his case of nerves.. or made adjustments lol.   heaven forbid OP actually listens to other posters on the board who suggested this as well.

That doesn't always tell the whole story though.  He would have had a tackle on Green in the 1st quarter but the play was wiped out due to an Argo penalty.

Bubble thoughts by SJ Green...

Pretty sure that was what Whittaker was thinking when he dropped that TD pass.  It looked like he tried to take a peek to see if a hit was coming before he had the ball secured.

Walker subbed in for Heath at end of the first half and was brought in in dime packages a lot.

Was on return and cover teams too and was very noticeable in a good way

Really liked him in pre-season as well.  I think they found a good one.

Will he be able to shoulder the pressure?

Happy to see Walker getting some attention. Only 21 years old, too.

Impossible!! If his first game is bad... he's bad forever!

Darren Bauming show the other day he interviewed a Bomber DB, think it was Heath,  who said Carmichael was coming along really well.

I like Darren's 60 minute football program.

bad news -- no Mo Leggett this week. Yikes. Robert Porter starts in his place...

What happened to him? I don't remember hearing about him at all this week.
