US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

Do doubt that Barr was just waiting for an excuse  to spring Manafort.

I wonder if Trump still wants to throw out the mail in votes in California, or only when Democrats win?  A shame that result since its Katie Hill's old seat and she was shamed out of office.  Disgusting.

My understanding is that it's a pretty red part of California. Plus I can assume the US is no different than anywhere and by-elections are very poorly attended.

Yeah and the Wisconsin one isnt a big victory either as it was a big Trump district, filled a seat held by a Republican and the winner was several points down from previous.  But the spindoctors will spin.

That seat is up again in November. It's going back to Democrats in the fall.

Seeing Trump and the GOP trying to gaslight Americans again with this Schiff knew nonsense.  No one needs Adam Schiff to tell them what is in plain view.

As predicted by many, Trump is going to go full monty as it becomes increasingly clear that he is losing electoral support, as well as the support of the sane GOP who realize that he is leading a parade over a cliff. His outbursts will become wilder and more frequent.

The rhetoric is only going to get worse and worse especially if Trumps plan to get States to hurriedly open up backfires, I can't wait till they start arresting all who Trump thinks have wronged him

How much will these scaled up outbursts from him and his followers sway the undecided to vote for him or not vote at all come November? Considering how he got elected in the first place, this strategy seemed to work.

Is he the guy that said Trump would live to be 200 and was the healthiest President of all time and weight 210lbs and was 6'5"?  Cause if so, now we know why he was willing to lie.  What a joke.  I bet someone here is a big fan of his. lol

The biggest issue right now is voter apathy.  Especially among the young.  If people vote, he loses easily.  Even with the cheating and collusion and dirty tricks.  People have to vote.  If they dont, they reap what they sow and will be responsible for the fall of the American empire.

The biggest issue right now is controlling the narrative and the Trump team is in full on attack mode.

Judge in Michael Flynn case throws a new curve ball — suggesting the Trump ally may have committed perjury

Judge Emmet Sullivan is clearly not happy with Attorney General Bill Barr’s handling of the Michael Flynn case.

In a new order on Wednesday, Sullivan appointed retired Judge John Gleeson to step into the case and argue against the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the charges. Barr has directed the department to withdraw its criminal charge against Flynn, the former national security adviser to President Donald Trump. But many legal analysts have argued that the arguments for dropping the charges of lying to the FBI, in the face of Flynn’s guilty plea, are completely inconsistent with the department’s practices. It’s clear that Barr is carrying out his and Trump’s mission to tear down the work of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who first brought the charges against Flynn.

If the last 3 + years of lunacy doesn’t encourage one to get out and vote then yup enjoy your sow.

Soooo, the trump admin just burned one or more sources of intelligence to push a ******* conspiracy theory? Yeah, that just happened.

White House reporter says Trump’s jealous fury at Fauci finally boiled over: ‘You could see it in his body language’

Written by Travis Gettys / Raw Story May 14, 2020
President Donald Trump’s jealousy and anger toward Dr. Anthony Fauci boiled over into public view, according to a White House correspondent.

Associated Press correspondent Jonathan Lemire said the president has privately been seething about his public health adviser’s positive approval ratings, and he was obviously angry that Fauci delivered bad news about the coronavirus pandemic during his testimony to Congress this week.

Thanks to Trump, and Fox, now realize that Dr. Fauci is clearly a disloyal, dictatorial, Chinese collaborating, one world globalist, double dealing swamp buffoon.  Just another enemy of the people.

Or simply yet another scapegoat

And unlike the completely awesome POTUS, Fauci has been living in an ivory tower.

Gotta get that shot in before he testifies

Can a President be impeached twice?

Quote

The Foreign Emoluments Clause prohibits the president or anyone else in office from receiving “any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State” without congressional approval. D.C. and Maryland claim that money earned as a result of foreign officials staying at his hotel to curry favor with the president constitutes such an emolument.

The Domestic Emoluments Clause says that the president cannot receive any emolument from the U.S. or any individual state other than his or her salary. The lawsuit alleges that Trump is receiving such emoluments when state officials stay at his hotel.

In a blistering dissenting opinion, Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III wrote that what is really “clear and indisputable” is “that this action should never be in federal court” in the first place. He said he would order the district court to dismiss the case entirely, and that “the federal judiciary has sorely overstepped its proper bounds” in the case.

The dissent notes that if the president is violating the law by receiving illegal emoluments, Congress has the power to impeach him for it, which they have not done.
