Did you consider the possibility that he wasnt guilty?  Like many Republicans also thought?

Also you said the vote was purely partisan which it wasnt.  You were wrong.

Since Mitt voted guilty I guess Trump's wasn't partisan either then.

He can always try the Clinton defence,

"It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the—if he—if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement."[

What does Clinton’s impeachment have to do with trumps?  They were both impeached.  Why are you trying to deflect discussion to clinton?  Does any criticism of trump sting you that personally?

I have no problem with criticism of Trump, he deserves pretty much everything he gets but some people go overboard with it and I just try to bring them back from the edge. I worry about some of you, you shouldn't let him get to you personally. For so it almost seems to be life or death, he's just another bad president, let it go.

Cause there are no degrees of criminality! lying about something personal like a BJ from an Intern is exactly the same as all the **** Trump has done. I mean christ Trump has lied about plenty of BJs I am sure.

Yeah but obstructing justice to cover it up is a crime even if a BJ isn't.

Still scary that they are even debating this. Insane.

Its really the fundamental issue.  Is the President above the law.  Hard to imagine SCOTUS saying he is as it gives the Presidency dictatorial powers forever.  If if the right leaning Justices got for it, and you expect your SCOTUS justices to be above politics, hard to fathom Roberts goes along.

The implication is that if the SCOTUS agrees that Trump is above the law, they can immediately take off their robes and go home forever, as it would mean that he is the ultimate authority and can overrule them as he pleases. Thus they are redundant and no longer needed.

It is impossible to fathom especially considering some of previous rulings out there. Yet here we are. Judges are now political hacks making rulings not based on the rule of law but on partisan sides. And before anyone screams both sides it's only the one side doing this.

You do realize that there is no legal obligation for a president to turn over their financials, don't you?

Just another bad President?  I've see quite a few, but....

Trump is actually a textbook case of a total malignant narcissist.  The childishness, immaturity, raging tantrums, serial lying, egotism, lack of empathy or integrity....are merely symptoms of this deep seated condition...

When it comes to advice even within his own administration, the Don is simply psychologically incapable of accepting what they are telling him. Any Intelligence information that does not conform to his worldview simply cannot be processed.  This is the main reason that a lot of posts in the WH are populated with under qualified flunky's, to tell him what he wants to hear - thus "proving him right".

His internal world is filled with baseless and outlandish conspiracies that fit with his emotional needs.  In Trump's distorted, paranoid view of reality  -  NATO, EU, UN, etc, are all enemies, who rip off the US and are inherently untrustworthy.

Trump’s weird admiration for dictators of all stripes....can be understood more readily, when one understands that actually, they exhibit the same authoritarian, narcissistic and paranoid worldviews, as Trump.  In reality, Donald simply has a higher comfort level with those folks.

His view on government is that it should be based primarily on loyalty to himself, rather than the rule of law or democratic norms.  In his world, only Trump and his allies, his supporters, and their friends are entitled to the rights and protections of the law, and if necessary, immunity from it.  Any disagreement with him is "criminal" "treasonous" or some form of devious plot against him.

Contrary to those democratic norms, all his activities must be shielded from any form of oversight.  Therefore, the traditional balance of Judicial, Legislative and Executive entities, must be upended and institutions like the DOJ, Intelligence community, etc, be belittled, and discredited (he is working hard on those right now)

His base is passionately loyal to him, as over the years, the right wing propaganda has instilled a mindset, featuring them also as "victims" surrounded by "enemies"   Hatred of "elites" manifests itself as resistance to the "Deep State" which consists of pretty well all existing institutions.  All Trump needs now is to design the appropriate salute.

All of the traits mentioned above, have been on full naked display during the pandemic.   Some of us wondered how Trump would respond to a real crisis.  Unfortunately we don't need to wonder, any more.

Trump transcends the usual push-pull of Democrats and Republicans.   Beyond mere policy and beliefs. - this man is a complete menace, and a danger to democracy.

It within the realm of possibility that Trump would start a war in order to boost his popularity as Margaret Thatcher did over the Falkland Islands. It worked for her, as it did for Reagan when he ordered the invasion of Grenada to oust the few dozen engineers from Cuba who were working to update Grenada's infrastructure. Everyone forgot the Lebanon disaster. Thus he is a danger to other nations as well.

Indiana Pol Under Fire for Racist Meme Says He’s Not a Racist.

Bryan Woolston/Reuters

In August, Indiana state lawmaker Jim Lucas was accused of racism after illustrating a post about a black rapist with a photo of a hangman’s gallows. It doesn’t look like he learned anything from that episode. The Indianapolis Star reports that Lucas, a Republican, is under fire again—this time for posting a picture of black kids dancing under the phrase “We gon’ get free money.” Lucas says that just happens to be the picture that popped up in his meme generator when he was creating a post against federal bailouts. “I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he said. “People who want to find racism are going to find racism in anything.” The Indiana Republican Party declined to weigh in, telling the Star: “If you’ve observed Rep. Lucas long enough, you know that his views are entirely his own.”
