US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

In a Tuesday night tweet, President Trump said he would be postponing his meeting with Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen after she shot down any further discussion of a potential deal for the U.S. to buy Greenland. “Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time,” Trump wrote.

Holy **** how can anyone take this putz seriously?

How the heck did this happen to us?

No Trump doesn't think he is a dictator at all, telling companies that they need to get out of China and bring the manufacturing component back to the USA, G7 meeting might be frightful with this maniac running amok

god she has to last until there is a dem president

Well, the precedent has been set that a sitting President in an election year cannot choose a nominee because the American people should have a vote on who will be their leader to select one. Unless of the course the Republicans are complete hypocrites who care nothing about the American people and only about self-interest (NEWS FLASH - they are complete hypocrites). Sadly the Republicans won't even try to put a spin on this one. Hopefully Ginsburg can hang on at least until January.

Democrats will have to take the Presidency and the Senate if the want to even up the SCOTUS, if the Republicans retain control with Moscow Mitch as leader the Senate will become even more Conservative.

As he gears up for a difficult re-election cycle, Rep. Steve King’s campaign is strapped for cash. Individual donations to the Iowa Republican have continued to flow but support from corporate donors and King’s own colleagues have vanished entirely.

Thank you! I will delete post- so much fake stuff floating around.

My Apologies.

Orange Lord just finished taking his carny show to the G7

The agenda included an emergency meeting to address the blazing fires threatening the Amazon rain forest, inflation and sagging development in Africa, addressing the spread of human rights abroad, and discussing an international strategy to combat climate change.

Lets see how that went:

Trump claimed that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged to buy “all of that corn" left in American silos due to the trade war.  Within minutes, the Japanese government issued a statement clarifying that an agreement had not even been drafted, much less confirmed.

At the emergency meeting to discuss how to bring the raging Amazon rain forest fires under control, Trump didn't show, but spent the morning instead..... tweeting at the hosts of various Fox News programs.  When approached about his absence, The Don set the record straight -  "I think I know more about the environment than most people"

He did spend plenty of time, bashing the media, and claimed that he and the other world leaders spent the day laughing at how "knowingly inaccurate" the American reporting of events is.

In the interest of fairness, there was no evidence that he attempted to sell anyone real estate. Although Trump did suggest that the next G7 be held at his Doral golf resort in Miami, Fla., calling it a “natural” location because of its proximity to an airport.

Trump said he would "certainly" invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend next year's Group of Seven (G-7) summit when it's hosted by the United States. Trump also claimed that multiple other G-7 attendees signalled they would support readmitting Russia to the group. But he did not provide any names or specific accounts, and other world leaders have said Russia rejoining would be contingent on deescalating its involvement in Ukraine.

Diplomacy, Statesmanship and moral leadership at its finest - if one can drink enough.

The latest 2020 national poll from Monmouth University doesn't look good for former Vice President Joe Biden.

Monmouth's poll released on Monday shows Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) tied at 20 percent, with Biden behind them at 19 percent. Given the poll's margin of error, that means the three candidates are effectively tied thanks to Biden taking a serious dive since a previous poll released by Monmouth in June.

In that June poll, which was released prior to the first two presidential debates, Biden was polling at 32 percent, but he has since plunged 13 points. Sanders and Warren, meanwhile, have improved by six percentage points and five percentage points, respectively.

Yes that is exactly how a discussion works... drop some cryptic ****. Expect others to pick up on what you are saying... then tell them to go mull it over some more when they ask for clarification.

**** that ****. You want to post some kooky ****- you explain it, it's not for me to delve into that morass of conspiracy Cray -Cray you call a mind and suss what you are alluding to... no thanks- **** that.

Elite progressive journalism routinely expose tweets,  no matter how old , or how interpreted,  in order to shame its ideological enemies as morally repugnant are themselves exposed as same.

The former are expected to be publicly shamed and punished the latter cry foul as if the same rules for morality they claim to hold as truth do not apply to them.

Progressives want their brand of morality to be taken seriously but when its time to show some honest consistency in their beliefs instead they circle the wagons.

And they wonder why theyre distrusted and scorned.

Those are some really broad strokes for that picture you are trying to paint... Can you list some examples of these elite progressive journalists please? It would also help if you are to identify the specific brand of morality.

Thnaks.
