Official GDT: vs Ham 08/03/16 Game Day We All Play!

Heading in now from Victoria Beach, but looking forward to the game. Weather could be sketchy late afternoon/early evening with severe thunderstorm activity in the forecast. Here's hoping it's tapered off by kickoff!

On a stormy weeknight we had approx 17k fans in the stands AFTER a 2.5 hour delay... Can anyone dispute Winnipeg's claim to be the best fans in the league?

  • A completely ridiculous insane night that was totally worth it. Barley Bros for pre-gamers, to the stadium at about 7:15 and never left till 1am. By far the most I've ever drank at any "event" type th

  • My wife left, but I stuck it out to the end!   Well worth it.  Home by 1:30, and that 6:00 alarm wasn't welcome.   Well worth it though.  Feel like we may have turned a corner.   Lots of Bombers

It's almost over. They are playing tonight. It's impossible to reschedule the game to a time other than tomorrow even that's hard to lots of logistics envolved.

lightning moving on....but wind is swirling round.......looks like O and S...will be in the wee hours  of  the morning. ..

looks  you better head back to the LC and get more Gin, going to be a long night.  Just sent Mrs. KBF to the Walmart here to get more beer...

TSN keeps showing the stadium and it has tonnes of lightning....  could they not play tomorrow?

They are playing tonight probably be about 20 min till they start warming up.

Cue the promo lets go

Storm stalled over the stadium.  No confirmed start time.

First game in 17 years as a ticket holder I've left early.  If it was just me, I'd probably still be there .. had my daughter with me tonight .. to her credit .. she wanted to tough it out.

The league is botching this one big time.  Call it!

agree.

We left. Still in the south end. Bursts of lightening  every 5 minutes. Just call it.

I am directly north of the stadium 3 km, nine storeys up facing west.  The sky is clearing up but it looks like at least half an hour until it arrives.  However southwest it is still dark.  I can no longer see any bolts of lightning but I see the flashes.  This indicates to me that the lightning has proceeded past my current point of location.

So, if they start at 10 pm, it'll be a 1 am finish. It should've been called.

Are people actually going to be there if they do start the game?

How will they honour Milt tonight with the game starting so late & so few fans in the stands? He deserves a lot better.

Feel sorry for Milt.

There goes home field advantage but also means less boo birds as well

With no contingency to re play the game that will be fair to both teams waiting it out is the reasonable, logical thing to do, imo.

After so many years, there should be rules in place that will help make weather decisions that delay games like this easier & make sense.

First game I've been to live this year. But everyone is in good spirits. Rain stopped. Lightning seems to have stopped also.

Maybe refs will be inspired to call a speedy game.

They do. Can't play in lightning. Wait until it stops.

I am sitting in stadium facing west have not seen lightning in over 15 min

A lot of people left but still more than an Argo game! Lots staying.

That's not enough. Talking time delays. This a 2 1/2 hr delay on a weeknight when people have to work the next day.  There has to be some common sense. A huge % of fans have left.
