I would also say I think it's just within the fans nature to blame first and foremost their coordinators, which I'm not saying ours aren't at fault, but I think throughout the league we've seen fans do this.
 
Example, yesterday over at Riderfans, the whole Rider nation wants to crucify George Cortez for everything that goes wrong with that offense.  To us, the answer is simple, it's that Sunseri has no arm and cannot get the ball downfield, and his decision making is uncrisp, and that's why Cortez is limited in what he can call for that O.  But the Rider nation who look at other elements of things in Tino's game or in other ways they believe the team could move the ball, believe in that, hence why they blame their OC when he doesn't do those things.  I'd say the same thing goes for here with Bellefeuille.  What does concern me with Bellefeuille is that he's seemed to have gotten away from RB screen passes completely, and when your offense needs something to not only try to move the ball but also try and slow down a rush, those plays can be that thing.  Now it may not work and when execution isn't happening period, it's likely because your team is just not talented enough to do it, but I do think he should've at least tried to run that play.  But there are so many other factors that go into that execution besides just play calling or selection that you gotta remember before you start blaming the OC.
 
We might also look at say Tom Higgins right now and say, damn I wish we would've hired him as HC, but if we had started out in that same 1-8 start as the Als, I'm guessing we would've been as vocal about calling for his head as the Als fans.  The CFL is like that, your team can go from looking like utter crap to all star level in just a matter of games, or vice versa.  But that's why you gotta let the season play out in its entirety before jumping to conclusions about head coaches or coordinators.

We're gonna go in there and win today.  Bellefeuille is coming out with a brand new pistol screen game that's gonna throw off the Esks defense and have them confused all day.

I'll also say, I'm not really surprised about our current record.  In fact at this point in the season, I figured it probably would be tough to manufacture wins, given how thick the competition gets at this point.  And still, compared to the disaster of last year, this team is still better.
 
I mean, last night was bad, but it wasn't how all our losses have been.
 
4 of our losses, including all 3 vs SSK have been close tight competitive games that could've just as easily been won, which if that happens flips our record around to 10-4.  But with a team like ours, obviously those mistakes will happen.
 
 
And I'll keep saying this, and I know others will need to hear it, even when we were on our win streak this year, I had said this team was not Grey Cup ready yet, and while maybe 1 or 2 of the losses did drive me nuts, overall I've been able to live with most of them knowing that this team is having a lot to learn about the will to win especially late in the season.  Late season is where you run into the biggest tests because at that point, the glitter and glamour of some of your early wins wears off and the will to get up and play every game becomes harder, and our young guns have to learn that.
 
But I think despite that, you gotta give O'Shea rope as a first-year head coach to get it right in the future, because the right players and the right coaches will learn about situations like that.  I think if this team adds the right pieces up front on the O-line and gets a running game that opponents truly have to respect, I think in the coming years they can really become a force to reckon with.  But you gotta take the wins we've had so far as a plus and some extra topping on the cake.  Remember, we had a lot of people predicting only 4 wins for this year, and with us already at the maximum wins I predicted at 6, I think they've taken steps way ahead of what they were last year, it's just gonna take a year or 2 more before they take it to the next level.  Best thing is for Walters and co to keep building with it and not wreck the talent we do have like Mack did.

seems to me, the few times I've seen him, he took the ball, went straight to the o line really fast, no hesitation whatsoever, kind of slashed through,  had some power when he was hit, and made some decent yards.
 
That's what I remember about Volny.
 
I've heard that a coach can teach a player how to stop fumbling, if that's still a problem for Volny. 

So Ottawa has one win all season, and it's in no way Henry's fault, but we're 1-6 over our last seven and Drew Willy needs tough love. Your logic is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Mind you, I'm not down on him, completely, nor am I one of the crazies who wants him fired ..... yet.  But I do think he could 've called that goal line situation at the end a little better.  There was still enough time to try and run Robert Marve sneaks or draws in that situation, or even trick them and have Marve throw on a bootleg.  I don't see any reason we couldn't have called that.
 
But I agree with Grigsby, he needs to sit, and when we're down in the goal line, bring in the rock and let Volny pound it.  I've been saying that for years.

The MO of fans around here, they think they know what a player's attitude is and that's hogwash.  Pretty much all except for Mr Kuale, nobody knows and to suggest such is hyper speculation.
 
The BS about that certain nameless QB who should be starting for Ottawa right now was the same thing, they all said he had a bad demeanor without having any living proof or fact on the matter, it was just hyperbole going around here with no concrete evidence.
 
I sure am glad people who say this kind of thing don't get selected for jury duty.

I think Montreal will be a menace to Calgary, but once again Higgins and his inept offensive staff will blow it.
 
Now Ottawa has the game in the bag as long as they blitz the life out of Sunseri, and if they start Joey Elliot

Etch's D has had problems with this at numerous points in the year, and I think it would be a mistake to say it's not a problem period.  But the run D despite giving up amounts of yards in some of their games, isn't the reason they've lost all of them.
 
I do think we need to get some more big bodies on that defensive front to plug the holes up, maybe even change some of our blitzing schemes and set Teague Sherman up to crash the RB down when he comes in from the corners.
 
But I think this is a work in progress that will be finished by next year.

We always get bad press, short of Bob Irving, because the WFP sucks as a newspaper.  Period.

The only thing I disagree with is calling Wiecek a "sports reporter" rather than a hobo with a laptop.

As usual, the Bomber game will be on youtube again, but the source it's coming from is the ESPN3 replay library, only one it can be got from.  ESPN televised the game last Sunday in the States, but when the start of the Banjo Bowl happened on TSN2 or whatever that was, ESPN didn't have any of their alternate channels pick it up.  So, pretty much left with a replay of the game starting with 2 1/2 minutes left in the quarter.

Somewhat along the lines of what tracker said, that was what some fans were saying about Joey when he was here about not going along with Crowton's garbage system.  If I recall right though, Crowton pretty much made it clear that Brink and Elliot both were getting shipped out with zero chance to even come back to training camp the next spring.  Some of us who saw the boneheaded-ness of that called it out immediately, but for Joey Elliot that may have been the best thing that ever happened to him.  Given what happened to all of our QBs of that year, Elliot could've also seen his playing days end thanks to the dumpster fire Burke and Crowton started.
 
That being said, I don't by any means expect Elliot to tear it up on the Redblacks, nor do I think he'll be pressed into action, but I think bringing him in was the correct call.  It's possible O'Brien could see limited action for them such as in garbage time or something this year, but you NEVER ever throw a young guy to the wolves before he's ready, you guys should know that from seeing damage happen to players like Goltz, so I definitely think bringing Elliot in was the right call.  He may not have a future, and when DeMarco comes back next year could very well head back down south, but you might as well at least see what he's got and use it at this point with Burris on his way out and an offense that needs something to pump a little life in them.
