  1. The last qb we developed who ended up making an impact was Danny McManus (just too bad he didn't have an impact with us).
  2. 375,000 seems about right to me. Win us a Grey Cup and then ask for a salary is the 400's range. The only guy in the league who might be making 400,000 or more and who hasn't won a Grey Cup would be Zach Collaros (just my guess). All the others - Ricky Ray, Mike Reilly, Henry Burris, Darian Durant, and BLM all have cups. (Not sure about J. Jennings either). My point is- one season with a 3rd place finish isn't enough.
  3. Not really rule related, but let's start the season at least a week earlier. Less chance of a blizzard in Winnipeg or Regina or (Ottawa?)!!
  4. The NFL has full time refs and their officiating is, at times, BRUTAL! Would full time refs improve our product? Maybe slightly at best. One thing that needs to improve, besides all the challenges, is that "ref in the sky", the ref in the booth. He was supposed to correct the mistakes, but the guy did next to nothing.Waste of a salary if you ask me.
  5. Did u guys notice the massive hold on the last play of the game? I was curious if a flag was thrown...cause Calgary seemed to get away with holding all season long. Anyways, the right team won in the end. I was cheering for Ottawa cause they haven't won in 40 years...and Smilin Hank is ever so slightly less annoying than BLM.
  6. I am guessing the Argos bring in a new QB next year (unless they re-sign Ray), in any case, unless Drew Willy takes back up money he will be looking for work with another team.
  7. My expectations for 2017 record wise would be about the same as this year: around 11 and 7. I don't expect us to win on Labour Day, and maybe not beat the Lions back to back, but I also expect us to beat Calgary at least once in 2017 and not get off to the horrible start we did this year. West should be tough next year too, but the Bombers should have as good a record or close with the Riders hopefully sucking again.
  8. Well, there are a few things I would like to see happen: develop/sign a dynamic, mobile Q.B., sign a stud middle linebacker, draft/sign a good canadian receiver, and sign a stud rush end. Now, what do I think this team will do in the offseason? Kyle Walters may try to sign a middle linebacker if one comes free in free agency; he will also try to draft a canadian receiver and offensive lineman...but if it was just up to O Shea, he would go with the status quo because rightly or wrongly he is loyal/stubborn to his players and coaches.
  9. I think we need a consistent kicker...one that makes those 61 yarders...
  10. It's not a Grey Cup announcement...so says Glenn Suiter
  11. When I saw this thread title I thought it was a joke. Honestly, many on this board expect the offense to score 40 every week and the defense to give up 10 points or less. Now if we had a qb named Dunigan, Brock or Clements maybe we could score 40, but we don't. If we give up the continuity that we have in the offseason and cut ties with LaPolice, it is just as likely that we will regress next season. We are not perfect, and yes I have been frustrated at times with O Shea/ LaPolice (mostly with their loyalty to a quarterback), but we are building in the right direction here and even if we lose on Sunday I will consider 2016 a success in a very good western division. Go Blue!
  12. Still frustrated that MOS leaves his starting qb in NO MATTER WHAT. I mean really, even Cal Murphy took Tom Clements out of the 84 Grey Cup for a time because he was bad...
  13. Wisdom would dictate that they sit Smith. If they make the best decision with the best talent out there he sits. Unfortunately we know that many football decisions are political, so to sit one of your prize free agent acquisitions...well
  14. I am for one division. Why reward mediocrity by giving teams with poor records a playoff berth? Why not reward a team with the 2nd best record (like the Bombers) with a bye the 1st round. Yeah, there are drawbacks, but I am more for it than against it.
  15. Apparently NFL viewership is down due to protesting Colin Kapernick's anthem stance... but I am rather surprised CFL ratings were higher this week (as I think overall, our numbers are down too for different reasons)
  16. I have liked a lot of what O Shea has done here. He has been patient, he is good with the fans and media, is respected by his players, has shown competency in the specual teams and by surrounding himself with experienced coaches. I believe he deserves an extension, regardless of whether we win a playoff game or not - if we go 3 -3 the rest of the way we end up 11-7 (very good record any way you slice it). My only significant criticism of O Shea was when he first came to Winnipeg and soon declared Willy his #1 (before training camp). O Shea may be too loyal to some players, but hopefully he is learning from past mistakes. Walters on the other hand - extend him and the scouting department...NOW!
  17. Yup! I think the accuracy throw started at like 20 yards away and got further away. It's interesting that I consider Warren Moon the best ever to play in our league (with apologies to Doug Flutie), but it was Brock who won the Schenley award as league MVP 2 years in a row. Had Brock stayed in the CFL with the Bombers I wonder if we would not have won 3 or 4 cups with him (after the evil empire of the Edmonton Eskimos lost Moon to the NFL).
  18. Anybody remember the half time show (alluded to earlier) when they had cfl players competing against one another and Brock was in it? I remember the QB competition and it was Brock against Lancaster and Wilkinson for the accuracy throw. Lancaster had a wobbly throw but I remember him winning that one. Then there was the arm wresting competition. Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight. Brock was in the lightweight division and won it easily. Then they encouraged him to take on the Middleweight Champ and he beat that guy too. Then they challenged him to take on the Heavyweight champ and Brock said, "No Way!" (I think he might have given the guy a run for his money.) Man, I miss Brock.
  19. Could we sign Brock for one game and let him throw a couple of deep ones?.
  20. Easily my favorite Bomber of all time (2nd would be Joe Pop, 3rd Stegall). I was devasted the day he was traded. I loved the '84 GreyCup, but did feel sorry for Deiter. Still remember the day I folowed him all over Polo Park Mall, finally getting up the nerve to ask for his autograph.
  21. Like I said before, some fans are only satisfied if we win by scoring 40 plus points a game and hold the opposition to under 10...if we only win by a field goal they will pick apart the deficiences (and there are always those) and then when we don't win the Grey Cup they will say, "See, I told you guys so!" Whatever...I know this team needs improving and so do the coaches and players, but's let's enjoy this VERY rare LDC win!,
  22. It was stated that these salaries are the most expensive 2 qbs (combo) in the league at just over 600,000. One would have to think that Burris and Harris together would be well over that 600,000 mark. Didn't Ottawa sign burris for around 400,000 - and I can't see Harris signing there for chump change. Also, what about Calgary?
  23. I have to defend Durant a little here too. The argument that he played well under a great o line doesn't cut it. What QB has played well under a bad O - line? Some of you may remember a younger Tom Clements in Saskatchewan years ago. They had a bad O line and he looked bad too. Calvillo all thoses years in Montreal had probably the best line in the league. My point? An average qb and a great Qb BOTH need a good O- line to succeed - and Durant, at times, in my opinion, has been a great QB in this league
  24. Have to agree with you Adrenaline X on Durant. While Durant, IMHO would be our starter here, he is no longer a top 3 qb in this league, neither is Ricky Ray for that matter. Time moves on. The top 4 qbs play for Calgary, Hamilton, Edmonton and Ottawa (Harris, not Hank). Durant might be 5 or 6 . Durant might have 2 or 3 good years ahead of him, but he has not looked good this year under an injury riddled offensive line
