Some good thoughts there: I would argue that we should play Davis and Bennet from this point forward. We need to see what those two bring and if we have our future starter there. Who knows? By game 10 or 12 they may show something great. Willy is not the future of this team. He will not be on our roster next year unless he is ready to accept way less pay as a backup. Nicholls is, well, an okay backup, but there is a reason Edmonton traded him to us for next to nothing... I am not giving up on this season but heh, there's almost no way we make the playoffs this year. Lets build for the future.

Ooops! I hope he doesn't think he still plays for the Riders...they play on Thursday!!

Which Saskatchewan team would that be? What years?

Bombers Opener June 24 ... (also Laine Day!)
blueingreenland replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Willy needs to be pulled, now! Not only as a fan can I see that clearly he has no accuracy, but from coach O'Shea's perspective, from our managements perspective...this is a make it or break it season...the time for ego's is long gone... -

Congratulations to Jordan Reeves...any one who is the son of a Bombers legend is a good guy in my books (even if he plays for the Riders). -
Jamie Nye on 980/650 sports here in Saskatchewan figured Bryant Turner was still one of the 3 or 4 best D lineman in the league...figures he will catch on with another team quickly...he hopes its Saskatchewan

I do feel for the players a bit on this. Most of them are making "lunchbucket" salaries...and that is one of the reasons I continue to love for the CFL and why my love other leagues like the NHL has wilted over the years - CFL players are guys I can identify with... One way to curb a bit of the discrepancy between the higher paid (and sometimes less athletic Canadian players) and the lower paid (often fill-in American) players is to raise the minimum salary in the league by 10 to 20 thousand...doubt the players union would go for that though

Kyle knox...do we own his cfl rights? Did I miss something?.....

Hmmm. Living in saskatchewan I have never heard the media here mention anything about him being a problem in the dressing room when he was with the Riders...seems to me that those rumours tend to rise when a player goes from team to team... I for one would love to see a dominant canadian in our backfield next year...Harris would be my first choice though

True. It's also the case that a player must pass his physical during training camp, otherwise he can be released...so Durant must still pass his physical in the spring...although it's doubtful the Riders would release him if he was almost ready... -

You're calling Cory Watson one of the best receivers in CFL history??? (lol) -

If they have no intention of re-signing the guy, it is a nice gesture to release him now...to give him a bit more time to catch on with another team -
Good! Now Walters can concentrate on the job at hand - turning this team from pretenders into contenders...

My condolences to the family of Lawrence Philips. Yes, he was a troubled individual...but that may just serve to increase the sense of loss his family has at this time... -
Tee Martin may or may not have been a competent quarterback for us...hard to say how he would have done with a competent coach and/or team around him. But congrats to the guy, obviously he has some smarts...

Anticipating Big Changes or Small by Camp?
blueingreenland replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, whatever changes we make, whether big or small, they better be the right ones. Out in Saskatchewan the new coach/G.M. said he is going to hold free agent camps "right after the new year starts". So, we better be doing the same...there needs to be an air of, shall I say, desperation, in the Bomber offices this off season. We have to improve more than any other team does. -
Yes, he was a drug addict and was arrested many times, the last time quite recently. Very sad, but despite the fact that he was a very troubled individual he was a human being who had value (as we all do) and he deserves to be honoured. He was a great football player and the first Bomber I ever remember following as a kid. I am sad to hear of his passing and send his family my condolences.

Chris Jones to Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed
blueingreenland replied to blueandgoldguy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The bet here in Saskatchewan is that Jones will indeed be offered the job with a high pay raise and likely go to Regina unless the Eskimos somehow manage to sweeten the pot for him, but that would mean getting Hervey out of the picture. Jeremy O day would likely be retained as assistant G.M. in SK. -
Eugene Goodlow may have been the best receiver to ever don a Bomber jersey. Unfortunately we will never know how good he could have been as an injury, as I recall, cut his career short...

No way is Paul Jones coming back here. He left here many years ago...in fact IMHO our decline from being a great team in the 80's and early 90's can be partially attributed to Paul Jones (and also Cal Murphy) leaving. We have had a few good years since then but not with any consistency that we had then...
