Here's the thing.....I am fully on board with the belief that Davis hasn't really lived up to expectation as a developmental 3rd stringer. The Fever wasn't supposed to be a project...he was just a guy to run short yardage and be "veteran" help, if needed. I could be convinced that we get rid of either or both.....but I *REALLY* appreciated what The Fever did in his short yardage stuff last year, and would hate to **** that up. We were basically automatic every time. If we bring in Glenn or Durant, they're not doing that. If we bring in another developmental kid at #3, can he run the Jumbo/Wildcat stuff as well as The Fever did? Does it matter as much as I think it does?

Absolutely agree. LeFevour was money in short yardage. I don't recall a short yardage play that didn't work.  It would have been nice to see a couple of successful passes in the plays that followed when he was left in. It seems that's all he brings. If we re-sign him and get a veteran backup like Glenn or Durant, we don't develop a future  QB (not that we ever have)... Unless we find a future development project who is great in short yardage.

  2. I'm not sure exactly who is to blame for our defensive issues. At times we were rock solid and then gave up some big plays. I don't think it's all on Hall. In the West Semi, no way Bowman should be wide open in the end zone twice or Gable running up the middle at will in the second half.

Players were obviously out of position on those plays and they need to be analyzed. Was it all player mistakes or the defensive scheme.  I tend to think its a combination of both.

I think we have the talent on defence and I also think Hall's defence looked very good at times. Correct this and we win. This is what O'shea will try to do.

I agree that LeFevour didn't look good. However, he has at least shown something at some point. The stat line for Davis from the last game is a bit deceptive too. It doesn't look too bad because there is no official "Stood there, looked confused, and got sacked" category. I think starting LeFevour is the right call.

Agree, I think it may be that LeFevour was more decisive in his decision making process. Davis seemed to struggle with decision and hold the ball too long.

Mind you , LeFevour's decisions were bad, and many throws were not accurate enough,  but he was quick to pull the trigger

If he can hold back on some of those bad decisions and take off and run, he may do better.

  4. We've seen both LeFevour and Davis do much better than this. I, along with everyone else was very surprised that these two didn't take off and run the ball more themselves.  Both of these guys have wheels and can gain some yards and extend plays with their feet. I think it would have opened things up a bit and spread the defence out more. I don't think the play calling was set up for them to succeed.

If we have to roll with Davis and LeFevour, hopefully Lapo will put in some plays that allows them to succeed.

Actually not really the case....there was some real issues off the flied/behind the scenes which basically forced the Bombers hand in dealing him and saving face for both the organization, and for Roberts himself...was nothing to do with not producing, but played a part in his production not being Charles Robert's good but still better than most in the league

Actually, his last year as a bomber/lion his production was quite  a bit lower.  Fred Reid came on with a pretty good YPC average. Not sure what was happening behind the scenes but I do remember this.

I suppose the same could be said for just about any player at the end of his career.

Roberts was a CFL all-star every season he was a starting running back and the top special teams player in the league in his rookie year.  He averaged 2000 all purpose yards for an entire career.

Harris isn’t even close to that kind of production.  His best season prior to 2017 was 1830.

No question Roberts was awesome. The question is : who would you choose, not who had better stats. I choose Harris. He does more that carry the ball.

Yea I recall him getting lots of praise then he was cut the next day, lol.   wasn't sure if it was to pursue another option or what.

Walker Jr was injured in training camp. 6 week recovery time and was released. (June 12)

"O’Shea indicated Sheppard will be out two weeks; Walker Jr. will be lost for six weeks and Coates won’t play against Edmonton on Thursday."

Ya. Hes really the only actual surprise to me. Apodaca also but not really because basically i dont think cutting a 4th string qb is as surprising as cutting a starting DB.

With that said, the one position the bombers have no problem finding guys is DB.

Yes, we seem to bring in a new db every year who replaces the previous year's great find. They must like what they see in one of the new guys.
