Funny, ties in beautifully with the "Hillbilly theme".

At this point difficult to make changes to the RB's or the O-line so I hope Marcel can quickly come up with a different plan of action for the Argo game.  If we see more of the same play calling ineptitude I'm going to lose it.  Is the lateral dead and forgotten?  Run outside, that is the only place that Ford finds success and it's going to be the same for for either Grigsby or Cotton with this O-line.

The Ti-Cats are also over emotional on the defencive side, perhaps an ill advised reflection of the character of their head coach.  Numerous times they were jumping up and down screaming at the officials and eventually they were punished for these outbursts with unsportsman-like conduct penalties which diminished their chances of winning further.

    Cuz you asked so nicely....

Rider's offense was almost non-existent before they started running Messam.  Continue with that and our offense gets more chances with the ball, their defense gets tired due to lopsided TOP,  they lose the field position battle and the game.  The yards weren't meaningless, although your posts are getting more and more so.

Messam did more in 1 half of football than Volny's done in his career.

Messam is a valid backup for an Import RB, which saves a DI.  Volny?  Not so much.

Messam turned a loss into a win against a Western Division opponent who's above Regina in the standings.

Ford didn't crack the Bombers defence open behind the same O line in the same game.  Messam did.

Messam wasn't getting 7 yards down the field before we touched him.  He was breaking first contact then going downfield in a lot of cases.

If Messam does nothing else for the rest of the season, he's already earned his paycheck.

Messam's size and strength would net him more yards inside the tackles than Grigsby, give us a DI back and give us a change of pace.

Re-watched this play numerous times on CFL.ca and saw a few things.

-Willy was out of time.  He had a rusher coming from his right that was within a foot of him when he released the ball.
-Pontbriand or whoever was on the right end of the line was tag teaming to his inside so he missed that rusher.
-Grigsby was being covered by a D-Lineman that was late to arrive, it's clear Willy had to get it up and over this player who was running with his hands in the air so it was a very good throw.
-The greatest threat to the reception was the man covering Denmark, if he would have been watching the QB more closely he would have seen the ball coming and perhaps fought to it. If Denmark would have taken his man to the corner there would have been a lot more space around Grigsby and less risk of a knock down.
    -Best of all, it worked!

Even with the original play call I don't recall the Bombers successfully executing the throw into the corner this year although I know they've tried it numerous times.  Seems to me a long throw in confined space is usually a bad idea, especiallly when it's a rainbow.  Grigsby was a good choice as the receiver as the Ti-Cats were probably all over Kelly and Denmark but he's the wrong choice if you expect him to fight for a ball.  In his own words he was scared to jump for it but luckily the pass landed right in his hands.

Why the hell does Wetenhall need a board of directors when he owns the team?  He can run it badly all on his own.

Give your head a shake man, yer playing too many video games.  Nobody that plays professional football is a "pansy".   Would you like to be steam rolled by a 300 lb. lineman?  Doubt it.

He has already proven that he can be productive in a better system.  I wouldn't write him off yet and expect him to show his worth in the seconds half of the season once the Ti-Cats get their act together.  They've got a lot of vet talent on that club that probably doesn't take kindly to getting thumped.

Shouldn't have to explain this but here we go.  It's okay to call Glenn a lousy QB for playing a bad game but not Ray?  How about considering that each individual player is just one component of a team and not solely responsible for wins or losses?  Even if they are the QB they can only perform well if their teammates provide adequate support and in both of these games that was not the case.

Biggest tragedy was cutting Ford without giving him a chance to show his stuff this year especially since he was the incumbent.  I'm all for giving the ball to Cotton now as I believe he is the best of the three but you can't convince me that Grigsby was ever better than Ford.  Ford was just as ineffective running inside but he was deadly when he got to the outside and he was also a great kick returner.  Oh well.

Don't care for "told you so" posts but to each his own.

As for Kevin Glenn, I think he has proven time and again that if given the right situation he can be a very productive QB but it is very dependent upon the level of protection he is provided to operate. Last night the BC O-Line was porous so the results were predictable.  Glenn is the "anti-Reilly" he's not going to be able to do much on his own but given good protection and good offencive weapons his ability to operate an offence at full throttle far exceeds Reilly's.  Much like Calvillo in Mtl. who was just an average QB and wasn't having a H.O.F. career until Popp and Trestman built a team around him and most importantly an O-Line that protected him.

I think if anything the 2014 season has shown that on any given day any QB out there can be reduced to utter ineffectiveness by a great defence.  It's already happened to Durant and Ray on multiple occasions and dear Willy himself was rendered impotent against the EE's defence last week so Glenn is no exception.

Did not realize Glenn was so short, at the end of the game when he was shaking hands with Willy it looked like he was a midget reaching up for a lollipop.

Can't blame Willy for that.  Willy may be the best passer in the West but he's going to have to start moving the pocket around to buy himself time.  Time for Marcel to go back to school and come up with some variations to his game plan.
